Yeah. I'll also be putting out an end of season ROM after the postseason begins. Either way. NES reproductions is $25 a cart, while a powerpak let's you put as many games on as you want as many times as want.

Without all the mumbo jumbo....how exactly does the powerpak work?

We're starting to jones for a USA vs Japan season of Tecmo Bowl, but we'd like to test everything out in 2 player mode to make sure everything is legit.

Perfect.  Based on how many edits you make, I'm thinking the power pak would be a useful purchase.

We already know what we'd want the WR run teams to look like on the playbook....but I really need to sit down and conjure up an appropriate set up for LA's pass plays and some legit coverage schemes.

We can put any play in any slot you desire.  The only thing we currently can't do is have both a fixed blocking scheme for LA and a broken one on the same ROM.

I should be able to make any of the other changes you want VERY easily.  The other nice thing with the 32 team ROM is that you can set alternate uniforms, so if USA New York plays vs. Japan New York, you'd have different uniforms, which I think is nice...

Interesting about the fixed LA and regular LA not being able to coincide on a rom.  why the heck is that?

We've always wanted japan NY to play USA NY and so on and so forth, so the different colored jerseys are a must...otherwise you are unsure who are blockers and tacklers on kick returns and on some run play in a lot of traffic.

Well, it's not impossible.  It's all in the play instructions...the LA Run 1 has a set of offensive play instructions that it reads when you choose that play.  The fix is to change the blocking byte for the invalid blocker on the original ROM.  In order to keep the original play and have a fixed version, you'd need to add a completely new play to the game that was basically the same as the original and just fix the blocker on the new play.  Play instructions are currently one of my weaker spots of knowledge in the game, so I'm going to actually sit down with jstout one of these days and get learned up on it so I can A.) Fix some of the exploitable routes, and B.) Create my own new plays

wow.  i really just had in mind making LA a 1 back team and implementing a different playbook all together.  Marcus Allen as a WR or slot guy, and spread Christensen out as WR.

Sounds like you are really looking to shake things up and keep both in.  Great idea, and good luck with that.  If you can fix the block scheme with LA, then we are all about it.

Well, the block scheme with LA is already fixed, so we have that option, I just figured to keep the original ROM flavor, you'd want it broken...

One point of note, if you do the single-back set for Bo, it could potentially make him super nasty.  In our league, we had a guy with Bo + Indy's playbook and it was pretty much impossible to stop.
