Hi,

A group of us at work recently re-discovered the joys of RBI with the FCE Ultra emulator...

We've managed to start network games using dee-nee.com, but the lag is atrocious during the day.

I'd like to set up an in-house server, but I don't know where to begin.  I've taken a (brief) look at the source code I found at http://www.mavetju.org/download/ (version 0.98.13), but I don't see anything that jumps out at me as server code.

Is there a FAQ or other online resource for building your own server?

Best Regards,

David

David...how many people do you guys have that play and where are you guys from and how good are you guys?

You should Join Joe for his RBI Orgy:  the Allann Tramel Invutashonal Turnamint.

I do think that an additional server is a great idea.

So far the 2 dee nee servers have been sufficient at night.  I've never tried them during day time hours.

Joe Dirt: we have three players.  The other two guys are mediocre; while I'm absolutely spectactular!  >> (insert other hardly detectable self-promotion here) <<

So, I guess apart from the two dee-nee servers, there are NO other FCE Ultra servers out there?  Who set up the servers at dee-nee?

Best,

Dave

Greetings. FCEU is no longer in development, so unfortunately there's not much information or support for the network server. Also, all source code from FCEU's site at sourceforge is no longer available. The last version of the server code I have is available here:

http://nightwulf.rbicentral.com/fceunetserver-0.0.3.tar.bz2

I have no idea if a newer version was released. I happened to have that on my hard drive, and I've been unable to find any further releases. The most recent version of FCEU does not work with this server. You'll need to use FCEU 0.98.10 (available here). This appears to be a Windows build of the emulator; I'll see if I have a copy of the source lying around.

Mostly I'm suprised you didn't comment on the spelling in the subject

The Raiders are a successful organization

I told you dicks that I only cringe when RBI names are misspelled.  Pay attention, people!

there are also folks complaining about the lack of Bobby Grich, Dwight Evans, and Willie Randolph.

"GYM?  What the hell's a GYM?

Ohhhhh, GYM."
"Thank you Mr. Toilet Bowl..thank you for being cool on the side...you're the only one that understands me."

The online servers were setup by me, but all I did is really compile and run the thing...

From what I have seen, 0.3 is the last version of the FCE server released.  It would be nice to make it work for the newest versions of FCE, especially some of the hacked ones that are still being worked on.  That being said, I'm not about to touch it, think it's all coded in C++

Hokeycode

OK, so I can't spell.  'Builing' should be a word.

Thanks guys for the info.  I'll see if I can get a server running at our office.   If that works out, I'll push a server live at our co-lo.

Best,

Dave

PS - Our office is near Yosemite, CA.  Our co-lo is in San Francisco.
