DC Factory great way to load RBI ROMs; Need help at the plate...

I found a ton of usefulness (?) for my old Sega Dreamcast -- R.B.I. ROMS! (of course, I bought my Dreamcast on eBay for $40.00 three years ago) I went to the DC Emulation site and proceeded to burn about 10 discs that would not boot up on the Dreamcast. Then I tried Dreamcast Factory (http://dcfactory.cjb.net/) and found it create discs of R.B.I. originals and homemade ROMs. All played on the Dreamcast! It is a blast...

Of course, I also bought an old NES at a garage sale for $15.00 last month and had to purchase R.B.I. 3. It's based on the 1990 season -- the year the Reds won the World Series (yes, I know I'm living in the past!).

I'm still working on my timing at the plate (it's been 10+ years since I really played the old NES). I strike out too many times against the computer because I swing at bad pitches (any tips?). Of course, once the computer pitcher tires is when I make my comebacks...

As a Reds fan, I love the R.B.I. Arcade ROM that's been "Tengenized." George Foster bats left in this game; something I'm going to fix in R.B.I. Editor (another ingenious creation).

When you play RBI on your DC, does it play smoothly with the DC controllers or are there any minor problems you have as compared to playing on the NES?

ive played on the dreamcast a number of times, and it is a lot diffrent, for some reason the timing seems off as compared to the NES version, the dc controllers also can seem a little sluggish at times, especially with the quickthrows.

Sorry, I'm just not a fan of the software people come up with to package emulators and ROMs together. It undermines the biggest foothold emulator authors have against legal action (i.e. the software is not packaged with copywritten material).

It's also not exactly a good idea to start downloading software from a site hosted at cjb pointing to binaries hosted at a dyndns.org domain that suggests that you must update WScript. If nothing else, look for information at the emulator's homepage for instructions on burning and/or DIY image creation software there. An excellent tutorial is available at the DreamSNES site.

Plus, where would Dee-Nee be if we weren't tormenting the newbies? It's practically a time-honored tradition at this point!

Actually, the controls are pretty good. I played with a friend about a month ago and he had trouble making consistent throws to second base from the outfield. I didn't find it that difficult.

The "curvability" of pitches appears to be even more sensitive than the NES, but I'd have to play my NES more to really test that out.

I've never lived in Cincinnati but come from a city without a major league club. Therefore, I adopted the Reds as my team in 1975... My license plate even reads "Go Reds."

I had problems originally throwing to second. Seemed half of my throws went to first instead. Replacing the controller fixed the issue.

Overall it plays great. Fake Wumpst and I play this way every time he's in town. It's also convenient to grab every (RBI) ROM in existence, apply the "2 player pause" and "same teams" to each, and burn them to one CD. The "speed up" functionality on the analog stick is also a fantastic feature. It's become second nature to skip through the intro music, long obviously foul balls, homeruns ...
