Hey guys,  I decided to continue the discussion over here because I guess it's more appropriate. Yea, I noticed taking a step backwards playing RBI Baseball for the first time. I had played part III for over four years so it would be a while before I get use to the differences. One thing about part III that i like is the INSTANT REPLAY option. I use this to verify controversial home runs or hits off the foul line (or glitches). I wish RBI Baseball had more teams, I am use to the full MLB roster on III and I was disappointed when the Cubs werent there. (Cubs were in last  place in 1987.) At least Awesome Andre is on the All-Star team. I usually  dominate games in III but I was giving up mad homers (Boggs clocked one long) . The overall game play is different. The fat players is the hardest thing to get use to.

If you have invested four years in part three, then part one is defintiely going to suck for you.  All the extra features and teams will spoil you, the original is going to be very basic.  Of couse the simplicity is what most of us like about the original, but it's the game we're used to.  It all depends on which version you tried first...

that is probably true gantry... depending upon which version you play first will determine the version you prefer.  for most on this site... the original is all we need and i speak for most when we were disappointed that tengen changed the format for the second and third versions.  as for the little fatties... i guess there must be plenty of fast food restaurants outside tengen field cause these guys arent missing any meals... for the second and third version, the players look anarexic.  i will take plum and healthy any day over those callista flockhart look-a-likes.

I remember the day I rushed off to the mall to get RBI 2(3 is the same anyway) I was so excited, it was a hard thing to find, in my mind I pictured the same game but with new rosters and teams. I turned it on and saw the new field, skinny players and dinky bats, my words were if I can remember, "you gotta be shitting me, what the fuck happened."  I still played, some things i liked, lots of teams, chaning your lineup before the game was cool, but thats about it.

RBI 1 is the best game by far. You got 10 teams, you get to know the players the tendecies, classic, every baseball player I know knows the game and ranks it number one. The last time I played one of those mlb, triple play bullshit games was when, I tried to intentionally walk a hitter and they pulled the ball down the line for a homer. I said that's it I'm done.  I feel bad for the guy who was deprived of RBI and had to play part 3, play the original, place part 3 in the garbage, and never look back. OUT!!!!

maybe if those a-holes at tengen get their act together they might come out with a retro rbi game with updated stats/players/teams but with the same fat bastards and game play...  that would be the shit... will it happen,  probably not... so i am happy to continue playing the original, greatest baseball video game ever created!

We have wanted a new RBI game also.  We have talked about having all of today's teams along with all the players.  But we do want all the same fat-ass players and killer graphics and game play.  How great would it be to have RBI with Pedro facing Jason Giambi?  A fat Pedro Martinez bringing the cheese to a fatter Giambi.  I can see this being a 6-drinker.

they have some updated versions on the rom but i am not sure if they just changed the names/stats or if they really made the players different...  the link is on this forum somewhere.  all you have to do is download a modulator and then check it out...  i have no clue what that means, that is where my little brother comes in...  he is the one who understands this computer bullshit.

There is an option not on part I which costs me several hits each time. On part 3 a player on defense can slide or jump for a ball, and playing the original version I had missed many balls that I could of slided and grabbed but instead rolled all the way back to the wall. Besides that I probably can get use to the change, would you like the option that lets you dive for a ball or jump when the ball is bouncing over you?

you have to remember that the players in the first version are fat and they might hurt themselves if they tried to jump... give them some credit for they dive once in a while and they make nice catches with their bare hands.

Mr. Wynne, that thing you have next to your name, where the rest of us have fat RBI players, is really annoying.  I can barely read what you wrote because that moving shit distracts me.  Anyway, Like we said before, you can't go into RBI Original wanting your players to dive or jump or moon the fans or whatever the hell the players do in part 3.  You have to accept the game for what it is worth.  I don't want to see Darrell Evans diving for a ball down the line unless he wants to.  I need him healthy for his next huge at-bat.

i concur dill completely,  these players are paid cause they can hit, not cause they flash the leather.   as long as we keep that in perspective, we'll be fine.

Hey I thought this site was about RBI, Gantry made it clear on his site, that he didn't care about part2 or 3. There is no comparison between quality of games, the original is the only one that should be even talked about. LONG LIVE RBI

i guess rbi three is still technically rbi but in name only for the game is nothing like the original...

rbi 2 and 3 should do nothing more than collect cobwebs.

I'm not a fan of parts 2 or 3, but I don't really mind if people discuss it on this board.  The more fans of RBI we get on here the better...

we kinda hit this on the other topic, but there is no game like RBI the original...ill admit, i too was thrilled to play the new game, and some of the options, like all the teams and some classic squads was nice, but quite honestly, its like apples and oranges....RBI stands for everything i believe in as far as computer gaming goes...when they tried to tweek it too much, it went downhill....its remarkable how much character a game full of identical participants can actually have

you mean  "white tony gwynns".

i have said this before but i think that all the speedsters in rbi except for tim raines fail to live up to their potential... lenny dykstra killed me the other night, the guy had been hibernating for 14 years...

at and gibby make up a lethal combination of speed and power...  hands down the top 1-2 combo in the game... even if allstar teams are considered.
