So, with the move basically done, I'm thinking about hosting a small tournament for people here in the LA-area. I know that TBG is in. Who else is based in SoCal? Crashing Bore, you are, right? Consider yourself invited. Also, you NoCal fucks (tm Darkside) should come down as well.
any date you wanna throw out there?
No.
Seriously, the last weekend of April would work well - Mrs. Man Freddy is out of town that weekend, so I have the place to myself.
i would think that is going to be open for me too. do you have a preference for saturday or sunday?
Either one would work for me - I guess it depends on who might be available other than the two of us.
What about Noah G and crew, he's around your neck of the wood ain't he? If so, you should probably PM/email as he doesn't check the forums all that often...
Noah's up in Northern California. He was going to move down to Costa Mesa, but that was before he broke up with his girlie girl. Certainly Noah (and any other NoCal/SoCal/Arizona/wherever) players are welcome to play.
Interest so far from:
- Me
- Teddyballgame
- Fryak
- Dennis Kim
Wow, Dennis Kim contacted you? Haven't heard from him in ages... Perhaps he'll bring his RBI Hammer of the Gods trophy/cup...
will you eat the popcorn i bring in my pocket this time?
Only if you pop it solely by using the heat generated by my thighs grinding together when I walk...

done.
fighton...didja ever contact marshall dostal? hes in the rbi cotut and lives in your neck of the woods. he may also wanna film some of it for his rbi/cotut documentary.
i am interested. if you set an official date i will give you the yes or no
You should go to OJ's house
Bumpst.
I'm setting an official date of Sat., April 29 for the LA Tournament. So far, I have interest from:
- Me
- TBG
- Fryak
- Dennis Kim
- Broiler
A $10 entry fee, depending on how many people we get it will either be winner-take-all or pay 1st and 2nd place. Probably some sort of round-robin pool play, so everyone should get a few games in at least.
Anyone else interested? There will likely be a celebratory dinner/night of going out afterwards as well.
i have a triathlon the next morning on sunday, but i should be able to make it for the tournament portion. it's nice to know that i can donate $10 dollars to hang out at your house though.
It's the least I can do for providing you a microwave to make your popcorn.
usc....fine
usc, what time on saturday?
It depends on when people are available. Again, it also depends on the number of people, but I would think starting around noon would work. If we have more people entered, maybe we'll have to make it later. Really, I'm game anytime (because my wife is away).
Feel free to requote that last part.

i am going to the giants game on friday night so i couldnt leave until saturday morning. but if you make it around 2 or 3 i could definately make it. also, i will only come down there if i am guaranteed a trip to jumbos clown room

This can be arranged, both the timing and the trip to Jumbo's Clown Room (I live very close). Have you been before, and are you fully prepared for what awaits you inside?
i lived in hollywood for a year. you could say i was a regular down at jumbos.
Explain the essence of the clown room, if you would.
It's either the worst or greatest strip club in the world, depending on your point of view. On a good night, it's a punk rock kind of strip club, with the type of girls that Gantry would get major Bonerage over. On a bad night...it's dancers with fresh scars. Courtney Love used to work there before she met Kurt, as an example. It is, however, never a dull moment.
There was a joint in Atlanta called Tattletales that sounds very similar. My friends and I called it "Where Strippers Go to Die". It is also full of fetish type dancers- old ladies, giant hairy bushes, bodybuilders, tattoo's all over. Basically the greatest place ever. I forgot to mention that I coerced an old lady stripper into making out with me. She had a son my age. Gross? Or very, very hot?
Jumbo's Web site (http://www.jumbos.com/), featuring a gallery of Safe For Work pictures.
Also, the answer is "both".

thats funny, jumbos clown room sells shirts that claim that jumbos is "where strippers go to die." jumbos has amputees, skinhead nazis, overweight mexican trannies, all kinds of great shit
If one of you doesn't buy me that T-shirt, I will hunt you all down and kill you.
Done.
usc, you can officially count me in. i am going to try to persuade caveman to come too
Good. Dennis Kim (from The Hammer of the Gods group in NoCal) is also in, as is TBG and probably Fryak (former Dee-Nee poster). Also, probably Marshall (the guy that interviewed TBT for his RBI Baseball Documentary) and one of his friends.
And if anyone is interested, I started a MySpace for RBI Baseball in LA at http://groups.myspace.com/losangelesrbi (http://groups.myspace.com/losangelesrbi).

if only he'd take off that damn rubber it would make it so much easier on me

Holy crap. Next time I'm in SoCal (third week of May,) you're taking me. That is that.
theres a good chance caveman is in.
caveman is out, but he would just make northern california look bad anyways. i will be bringing my A game, so you better practice
hey fighton, hook me up with fryak and i'll see if he wants to drive together.
since usc lives pretty close to it, i think we should probably go to crazy girls as well as the clown room. ah, the memries
I'm less a fan of Crazy Girls - Cheetah's was the better "normal" strip club for me, just because a friend used to live with two of the dancers, so we always got in for free and had free drinks.
FYI, I'm in Las Vegas for work through Thursday, so I'm going to be on the boards rather infrequently the next few days. If you guys need to reach me about the tournament, feel free to call my cell phone.

I can do my best. I may move back to the bay in Sept. When is the tourney? I hate LA by the way.
the tourney is this weekend, you dolt.
We've got less people, and I know that Dennis Kim can't start until 4 p.m., so let's push the start time back to 3 p.m. officially...
Also, Fryak is out, so no free ride for TBG.
i was going to give him a ride, if he was cool.
on my mustache? perhaps?
but i never emailed him.
so how many do we have officially entered?
As of right now I only have four confirmed - me, TBG, broiler and Dennis Kim. Another guy and his cousin (fister) were supposed to come, but I never received a confirmation from him.
Starting to suck...
no way dude... it won't suck. i should have enough popcorn for everybody!
sucks
to show my dedication for rbi, i still plan on coming.
Worst. Tourney. Ever.
No way...you fuckers will have a good time. But who will be the odd man out for the lemon party? I think it will be fighton. He probably likes to watch.
i am going to try to make the top four.

you'll probably even be in town, but won't stop by or have the decency to call. elitist.
OK, Anthony and his cousin will be in attendance (confirmed), so we have six people playing. Games will start at around 3 p.m. - everyone should have my cell phone number who needs it.
UPDATE: Broiler is here. We are watching The World's Strongest Man on ESPN2 and waiting for everyone else to get start.
this is tbg...
i came through the door and met broiler and the other couple guys from the la area. fighton handed me a fresca as soon as i walked in the door. delicious. fighton and broiler are facing off with dt v sf respectively.
This tournament sucks
Can you confirm the Taco Bell tattoo?
i'll put it this way, the tattoos of taco bell and pac man are as real as the strikes you throw, joe dirt. i mention that becuase the first pitch broiler busted out on me in our game just now was one of your specialty pitches on the outside black.
tbg: ok, so pretty much i'm the worst player in all of caclifornia. broiler just spanked me with the cadinals. 5-3 . i need to diversify my team selection and pick someone other than california. i have yet to win a game. i'm 0-4. the pizza is great though!
broiler = I am a big fan of
fighton here: I hate losing one run games. Especially after I come back from two down in the ninth to tie it.
I argh a pissed off pirate.
tough loss in the finals to the non deenee ringer. but i had a good time hanging out with tbg and fight on. it was worth the drive
Anyone have the complete results?
I'll try to get them up later today. The head-to-head records were:
Michael (non Dee-Nee guy): 4-0
Broiler: 2-2
Anthony (non Dee-Nee guy): 2-2
Teddyballgame: 1-3
fightonusc: 1-3
Broiler went to the championship game against Michael because he beat Anthony head-to-head. We played 1 SP and a three-game series.
My only victory was against Broiler. I as getting really screwed with the BOPs - two games where I had four and at least two others with three. All at crucial times, as well. Having to throw those extra pitches kills one with 1 SP.
After the tournament, we watched "Bloodsport" on Spike TV. Overall, a quality night, and I'm glad we were able to get five people out there.
yeah, thanks for hosting fighton. i had a good time talking to everyone and distracting myself by getting to know people instead of concentrating on pitching.
i was surprised at how many bops there were with detroit... most of my opponents played as detroit so i got to see a lot bops that i didn't capitalize on.
apparently i need to play with blinders on, earplugs in, and tape over my mouth to get an advantage concentration-wise in order to have a more competitive showing.
whoever had broiler with the over in "which dee-neer would show up wearing a belt buckle" is the winner. awesome. pics will have to be had.
the visiting guys (mike & anthony) called a bop a "noonan"

Were they good guys? Douches? How'd they hear about the tourney? And why aren't they on dee nee?
they were alright. anthony seemed a little more personable. mike didn't take the games too seriously, but he was relatively quiet.
i think fighton got their email addresses from dennis kim (hammer of the gods) or through the old socal rbi yahoo group, i can't remember exactly what he told me. i think they would be invited back.
LA sucks...the tournament would have been better if it was in Boston
you could do your own tournament, negative nancy
If I wasn't so lazy, I might
allright then, lazy larry
Bdawk, kane, gdavis, and malnu. now thats a tourney!
is attezz and octo in the ballpark or are they a long ways away?
Did Dennis Kim show up? My money says no (just like the COTUT and the OH Tourney).
he called and cancelled last minute because of work

8 hours from Boston, but I've driven it quite a few times and it isn't so bad, especially if you leave at 8PM and get there in the middle of the night.
Seriously, I suck.... I totally assumed things were still in the "gathering" stage and had no idea it already happened. Next time I'll make a front page update to promote the tourney...
Were Michael and Anthony part of Dennis Kim's tourney?
pics?
i just hung my tournament consolation calendar that teddy provided.
Is it a 1986 California Angels calendar? TBG...that bastard!
Still waiting for pics, I'm very curious to see what TBG really looks like.
Can't be worse than TBT.
hey now joe dirtbag...i got a haircut...and a real job. well, i got a haircut.
Michael and Anthony (not Michael Anthony from Van Halen) had e-mailed Dennis through the Hammer of the Gods site, and Dennis passed my invitation on to them. They were both a good bunch of eggs, and fairly decent at RBI as well.

i thought we reconciled this a year ago? you said you didn't want one after all. cheater...
nobody gets pics of me, i prefer my anonymity. suffice it to say that i have been getting along in rbi due to my good looks up until my lackluster showing at the tournament.
