Much ado about nothing, probably shouldn't have said it but there is NO way they should fire him for saying it.  That puhl sucks, espn should hire us to come up with their options.  How can "I'm Keith Hernandez!" not even an option?

JoeDirt - What is your take on Hernandez's comment, Hernandez in RBI, Hernandez's acting career and Hernandez's clutch hitting in RBI?

Total horseshit that this was even brought to my attention by the media. People are such bitches these days; I for one don't let a sports commentators stupid remark get under my skin especially when nothing bad was even said. Those who were bothered by this comment were definitely picked on in elementary school.

I disagree.  Criticizing a woman for sitting on the bench?  That's pretty fucked up.  And his 'apology' was something like: "I love you women.  I always have."  What the hell is that?  That's like saying "Jews shouldn't be in baseball... Just kidding, kikes.  You are good at doing my taxes."  I don't think he should be fired, but he should be called out for saying something stupid.

He can say what he wants.  How many gold gloves did you have?  You have no right to criticize him.

Sir Gantry--I refuse to respond (other than to respond that I'm not responding) until I get clarification on my vegan/cheese issue!
Title: Re: Keith Hernandez rules
Post by: Gantry on 04/24/06, 06:29:12 PM
I don't know your issue, but vegan cheese sucks.  Hope that helps!!!!

And to clarify, Hernandez deserved to be called out.  Still shouldn't be fired, that's just fkn  silly.  If we were going to fire announcers for saying stupid shit, nobody would be left...

"My question for Gantry is why no cheese?  I mean, c'mon, I can see why no meat in the name of animal rights.  But the animal wouldn't be alive if we don't want to take the milk and make the cheese ('cause we breed 'em).  That animal is probably happy about the arrangement.  Same goes for milk, I guess...but with the stipuation that I think milk is disgusting and I'd rather eat my own testicles."

Suck it, Zettler!!
Title: Re: Keith Hernandez rules
Post by: Gantry on 04/24/06, 07:04:02 PM
The dairy industry is just as bad as the meat industry.  Ask any mother how they would like to be constantly impregnated from the age of their first period on, injected with hormones, ripped from their child days after giving birth, then as quickly as possible starting the cycle over again until they can no longer produce children.   Once that happens, they are killed...

I'm quite sure they would rather have never been born than live that life...

Now back to Hernandez, it looks like he has now been reprimanded by  the team (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2420288)

So, on a sidebar here Gantry, if you were to live on a farm, where you butchered all your own meat...and milked your own cows...then, would you eat/drink these things?  Since you wouldnt be supporting the meat/dairy industry?
Title: Re: Keith Hernandez rules
Post by: Gantry on 04/24/06, 07:16:34 PM
Assuming I have the same mindset I do now, no.  I don't think it's right in any way/shape/form....  But if I grew up on a farm I'm sure I'd have a different perspective on life.  I'd probably have some good fkn cheese to eat though...

i believe gantry gets a 7 layer burrito minus the cheese...i think he called it a 5 layer, cause he had them hold somehting else in it as well.

5 layer kinda looks like Slayer....metal shows up in most any places, or at least vit would say that i could find metal anywhere if i looked hard enuf.  which i see nuthing wrong with.

ok carry folks, im done.

Announcer say stupid stuff all the time, this is a non-story.

I think ESPN is just testing the waters to find out if they're able to make the news the way Ted Turner did in the 90's.

Plus, they're probably jealous that nobody (GDavis?) watches ESPN in the New York metropolitan area.

I accept your answer Gantry.  Well thought out!

So to answer your I'm Keith Hernandez questions, I hate you!  You and ult must bring it up almost 2 years later!

Actually, I give Foster credit for that HR.  It was a good pitch--he just hit it well.  I'm more troubled by the game itself 'cause Foster got a wallzie on a total pop fly that carried to wall, but it hit at the VERY BOTTOM of the wall.  I haven't ever seen a walzie like that before/after he did it.  And in that same game, I also hit your stereotypical walzie, but was farted by the very game I love.

Couldn't agree more. Who gives a shit. Color guys are paid to be colorful.  To punish him for doing his job and having a good time is ridiculous.

You should hear some of the shit Gracie says.  Let's not forget his "slumpbuster" story.  Free speech bitches.

Not neccesarily, however, it's still a non-story, it was a three hour game, so obviously almost the entire story written was taken out of context.

I think ESPN is just upset that Keith Hernandez was talking about the Pads and SNY sports wasn't spending every spare second talking about Bonds and putting up similar graphics about Bonds.

I actually passed the same thing when I was in Columbus for the spring game last weekend and meant to post something about it.  On the way home, I also passed Dryden's Dash Thru Carry Out.

couldn't tell you for sure, but it isn't too uncommon for other mascots to travel to pittsburgh, as the parrot gets a bit lively.

it's possible that it might have been it's birthday or something.

or maybe a legit form of cock fighting went down.

the over/under was 2.5 rounds for the parrot.

To be fair, Roger McDowell framed Hernandez in that national tragedy.

And a lot of men, and women, think that certain areas should be free of the opposite sex.  Look at all the women only fitness clubs.  I was also eavesdropping on a conversation at an airport when one of them gave the best argument I've heard against having women in the military.  The person who gave that argument was a 30 something year old business woman.
Title: Re: Keith Hernandez rules
Post by: Attezz on 04/29/06, 11:12:53 AM
What was the jist of the argument against women in the military?
Title: Re: Keith Hernandez rules
Post by: BeeJay on 04/29/06, 11:38:14 AM
That having men fighting alongside/against women disrupts societal roles that go back thousands of years.  When men return from service, women would be viewed as equals in every respect, meaning that they'd be fair game for both the good (respect at home & work place), but especially the bad (violence, rape).  It was a long discussion, but basically men would lose the protective instinct towards women that humanity has held for so long.

Are men raping other men in the business world and I just don't know about it or something?
