Title: quick throw bop
Post by: broiler on 03/09/07, 05:09:36 PM
i just got an old NES advantage for $10.  I am thinking of testing the quick throw bop theory with the turbo button.  if i just sit under the ball holding the turbo throw, i predict more bops.  any predictions?

i will also test it on grounders

Yeah, I bet you are covertly planning to disguise that nes advantage at the tourney.

Sorry, I missed the part about the theory.

I've always thought this was a complete falacy

looks like as soon as i prove this theory you'll be chalking up another thing you've always been wrong about.

Are you trying to spread the word that quick throws cause bops because you've yet to master it and are afraid everyone else at the tournament will have an unfair advantage?

I'd say so.

 What? Quick throw get to the base faster? They one hop? Wow. OMG. I never knew. That explains Tony Armas always stealing on me.

excuse my lack of clarity.  i was NOT refering to the simultaneous control pad + A quick throw.  i was referring to jumping the gun on the throw.  like starting the throw before it hits the glove, causing a bop

That should never happen....ever. I love it when it happens to other people when I fake steal with an average runner. When I see that, I don't go back and take the bag.

Broiler, you got any other theories/fallacies in the making. I like this experiment.

I say play as long as you can till you hit a bomb with a pitcher...should only take an eon or two.

Do you know about the HUM BABY conspiracy in RBI? Why do you think the Giants have the best team. Not even Nightwulf can crack the matrix on that one. The Force is with the Giants.

Long post of nothingness. My bad.

It's not a "theory." It's a subjective observation which has been shown to not exist.

"Prove" away.

Only computers are capable of subjective observations. If the idea exists, eventually the matrix can be recoded in order for the idea and theory to be truth....on some levels.

You talking to nightwulf right? I am just posting shit about the convoluted universe where facts are not available yet due to our collective psyche, spirituality, and technology.

They say technology is good for us. How do they know?

Shit changed when Tron was released.

None of your bops are coincidence. That's the purpose of the random number generator.

So why not set out to prove the "pinch hitters whose last names begin with 'H'" theory? Haven't seen a crusade on that in a while.

I used to think that if you hit down at the exact instant the ball touches a fielder's glove it will cause them to bop.  I did it three plays in a row but it's very difficult to get the timing, and it could just be coincidence.

i am out to prove this theory because i have noticed that most times i bop i feel like i am throwing the ball before it gets in the glove.

i wont try the pinch hitter H theory because I have never noticed anything of the sort.

nightwulf, please dont be intimidated that you are the Anaximander to my Pythagoras

i have noticed that most times i bop i feel like i am throwing the ball before it gets in the glove.

i have contended in the past that this happens on most plays and it's our subjective/selective memory/falibility that we only notice the early throw, or think we notice the early throw when we get feedback from the nes via the bop.

as far as pinch hitter "h" theory:

these are the guys:

ca = hendrick

bo = henderson

dt = heath

ny = heep

that's it.  only four guys.  the top three are good hitters regardless of the ph boost, so these theorists are only kind of wrong about danny heep.  now if the legend started out that "pinch hitters whose last names begin with 'h' are the best ph's," or that "you can pick the best ph by having 'h' in his lastname" there's more validity to that than thinking he's magic because his lastname starts with "h."

although, i believe they'd be wrong on all accounts, they at least identified the second-best ph in terms of power on each team, kinda...

armas > henderson

jones > hendrick

madlock, sheridan > heath

johnson, teufel > heep

Maybe you haven't, but someone did, and because of that idiot every "tips" website on RBI lists it as absolute fact. Neither "theory" is more or less valid than the other.

nightwulf, please dont be intimidated that you are the Anaximander to my Pythagoras

"Intimidation" and "irritation" are two very different things. While I'm at it, I'd rather be Pythagoras.

I'd also like to note that this thread irritates me because every time I read the title I get "Blitzkrieg Bop" stuck in my head.

Broiler, kudos if you know your triangles, but you aint no Pythagoras. Unless you are a numerologist and believe that everything in the universe is vibrating at a certain rate and is expressed in numbers that give everything certain  physical and mental characteristics. The Matrix is tricky my friend. I can only show you the door, but it is you who has to walk through it.

Anybody know about the "humm baby" theory in RBI and with the sf giants? It was the slogan for Roger Craig's Giants in 87. There is the cheese fellas.

It's from LOST.  Hugo is the fat guy - he won a lottery by using some numbers he got from a guy in a mental institution and had horrible luck from that point on.  The numbers keep showing up on the island.
