Title: Fantasy RBI League
Post by: Darky on 03/17/09, 12:05:15 PM
It's gone too long without a league up and running.

Who is interested? I'll go ahead and run the damn league since Fighton has life going on.

The team owners from last league will retain their teams and names, except for a couple of owners who did not take the league seriously. I'll mention them later after gaging interest.

I'll be the commissioner and run a clean league. The Empire will be managed by Ryno in the event that this league happens again with renewed interest...and I'll have a hair trigger if Ryno does not win.

Okay, discuss. Same rules as before unless suggested otherwise. Basically, nothing will change except for the league not taking a year and a half to complete.

Were at 5 so far.

And it's looking really good for Re-Peat to acquire a team, I shall consult my council.

Ryno, if you don't want the Empire or don't want in, let me know.

Let it be known that the Empire will have a team and manager, but I'll be drafting the players. We were runner up in the last Fantasy League and I expect nothing short of a championship.

Also, GDavis...I expect him to be in since he is the defending champion.

I keep it clean, maybe ultimate can run the rom for the Empire games...or somebody else who is really trustworthy around here. I can see a problem happening if my team goes undefeated.

Of course there will be a draft. That's one of the best things about the fantasy league. Everything is the same as when Fighton ran the league. Snake order draft.

What do you mean out? What? You going to Iraq or something to work? The league needs the OC....no excuses. Contact BDawk to run your organization if you need help.

Also, Ryno will not run the Empire. I'll run the Empire. Ryno can apply for his own team...

Looking good so far...

More details after the weekend. Let's see who else pops up in here.

Alliances will have to be formed since we have more than 8 players.

Players with bad credit due to disappearing from the last Fantasy League=Rack and Ryno.

It's my first time doing this kind of league so I'd be willing to be part of a duumvirate with one of the experienced players who's in the doghouse for dogging it last year.  Dog.

Rack, what happened? Why did you drop out? You had a spot man. In any case, your wish is my command. You are out and Mike D will take the final RBI Fantasy spot.

So here it is so far:

1.Darky
2.Attezz
3.Ultimate
4.Re-Peat
5.TBG
6.AlecTrevylan
7.BeefMaster
8.Ryno
9.nomaaa
10.Rack Mike D

Also, a reminder on the rules:

Quote from: fightonusc on 09/28/04, 01:18:39 PM
I'm leaning towards that solution, dvldog. I definitely want to limit to 2 SP and 2 RP only - we're not going to have a surplus of pitchers to go around, and if someone drafts four SPs, it causes a real headache. Especially since the computer will use all four pitchers in the simulation.

So, unless anyone has a major objection to it, I'll go with having your starting line-up consist of three OFs, four IFs, and a C, and your bench can be any four players.

The only change will be that a SP can not start in consecutive games. This is not up for debate.

I'm thinking about starting the draft on Friday. Sound okay?

I like this idea, but does this mean that you're going to be maintaining two sets of ROMs?  Leaves a bit more room for error (although I don't suppose it's all that likely).

Word of warning - lots of folks are away from Dee-Nee on the weekends, so a Friday start will result in the draft being interrupted for a couple of days right away.

Also, might not hurt to post a spreadsheet or something with position breakdowns for bench players, to make sure someone doesn't draft a player for an illegal spot.
Title: Re: Fantasy RBI League
Post by: Darky on 03/23/09, 05:39:27 PM
Points taken Beef. The SP pitcher thing is no prob. All I have to do is flip flop the pitchers in the rom or?

And yes, I'll post a spreadsheet. Apparently I don't have mine any longer...it evaporated when my computer crashed last spring, and I did not back it up. I think TBG has such a spreadsheet with all the players and positions. Do you have this TBG?
I'm doing a search and looking for said spreadsheet in other Fantasy threads...not easy.

I need more thoughts as to when to run the draft...and maybe it can be spread out over a week or so. Friday may be too soon. We need this spread sheet to give a people an idea and prepare.

Why wait until Friday to start the draft?  Might as well post an order and just start it now, unless this causes some kind of complication I'm not seeing.

I want to give everybody a chance and heads up to prepare for the draft.

Those contact, speed, and power ratings that each player has does have a lot of significance. I have a formula and a list for the top rated players based on a equation with the power and contact numbers. And another one representing other factors when i introduce the speed number element.

I took over Ryno's team in the last league (Ryno went AWOL), and turned his paper airplane into a space shuttle with a series of trades and re-arranging his lineup. I got to the finals as a first timer.

The Force will be with me this time around.

Also, I need help with the draft. Or do you guys trust me drawing names from a hat? I can tape it and attach the file.

So right now, I am shooting for Friday and I will inform all the league owners by mail.

I have done this and it does make things more interesting.  I wouldn't recommend getting specific with the outfielders though, just infielders.

If more specific (but not too specific) is the order of the day we might do 2 corner infielders and 2 middle infielders.

I think the first season actually had specific positions (not sure about the OF, but I'm pretty sure it did for IF).

Or maybe this post was just making a reference to ryno's picking four outfielders in the first five or six rounds of the last draft.

Apparently you guys missed a post in which I quoted Fighton's rules...dorks. Nothing changes except for the starting pitcher rule.

Again...your starting line-up shall consist of three OFs, four IFs, and a C, and your bench can be any four players.
2 starting pitchers
2 Relievers
[/b]
A starting pitcher (sp or rp) may not start in consecutive games. You may use any pitcher in your rotation to start a game.

Attached is an excel file of the players and their positions. Learn it, Know it, Live it.

The draft order will be announced on Thursday. The Draft shall begin on Friday at noon EST...

And start thinking about your team names. And if you want to bitch about the Empire's press releases, do it now...cause there will be a weekly press release coming from the Empire. And their will be a RBI Fantasy League Weekly magazine that I will post...and I will do the stats.

Basically, you draft an entire RBI-size roster (8 starting position players, 4 bench position players, 2 starting pitchers, 2 relief pitchers) from the pool of players in RBI.  The drafted teams are put into a ROM with the same ratings they have in the game, and they play against each other in "Watch Mode".  It's like fantasy baseball if you could make the teams actually play each other, rather than just accumulating stats.

Thanks for the help Beef.

My bad to the newcomers. I assumed you guys knew the rules and how it works.

I want to add that you can make your own line up from week to week...you are the manager and owner of your team. There will be 13 games and two divisions as before when Fighton was commissioner.

Also, one more change for this year. TRADES! The first three weeks, there will be no trades. Then there will be a 2 week trading deadline.

Any other questions?
