OK, so we're looking to fill a few more manager positions for the Fantasy RBI League. We're looking at having eight teams, and we have a few more spots to fill. I'd really like to get the draft started this week, so if you're interested in participating, either respond here or send me a PM.

Here's how things are going to work...

The Draft

- The draft will be conducted as soon as we have eight players signed up for the league.
- Draft positions will be handled by random drawing, and will go snake style (i.e. the 8th pick in the first round gets the 1st pick in the second round, etc.)
- The draft will last for 16 rounds. You must draft 12 position players and four pitchers. Of those four pitchers, two must be SP and two must be RP. There is no positional requirement for hitters.
- Any player on the RBI Baseball roster is eligible to be drafted; this includes players on the All-Star teams. This means that not every player will be drafted, and hopefully no one therefore has to get stuck with Stinky Sullivan on their team.
- The draft will take place via the Dee Nee chat room at a time agreed on by the members of the league. Non-league members are encouraged to attend the draft, root on their favorite teams, and boo the Jets when they select Kyle Brady.
- Trades are fine, but must be approved by the commissioner (me). You can drop a player at any time before the last week of the season and replace him with a player from the free agent roster; again, this will be approved by me. The trade deadline is two weeks before the regular season ends, and your roster for the last game of the season will be your roster for the playoffs. However, you can adjust your line-up (starters vs. bench players) at any time during the season.

Season Play

- The eight teams will be divided into two four team divisions - these divisions will be decided as part of the random drawing for draft position, and you'll know your division before the draft begins.
- Each team will play six games against their division opponents - three at each home stadium.
- After the regular season, the top two teams in each division will play in a Best-of-7 Division Championship series (home field determined by better record, with tiebreakers being a) Head-To-Head, b) margin of victory, c) total runs scored, and d) team HRs). The two division winners will meet in a Best-of-7 World Series.
- The commissioner (me) will simulate all games on a weekly basis. Whenever possible, I will attempt to simulate the games on the Dee-Nee server, so anyone else who wants to can watch the games.
- All rosters must be submitted to me 24 hours before your game is scheduled to be simulated. If you do not get a roster to me, I'll assume that you are using the same roster from the previous week.
- I will post screen caps of the final score, along with the box score and as many details as possible.

I think that those are the details for now. So, go ahead and sign up ASAP, and feel free to ask me any questions, or make suggestions on how to improve things.

I'm in.  I need to redeem myself after dominating season 1's regular season and choking in the playoffs.

A couple of questions/issues:

I might be reading it wrong, but we don't have to have guys play their RBI positions?  For example, I could have Lemon and Chili on my team?

My issue is the chat room.  As we all know, it doesn't work too well on my computer.  If I can get a heads up, I'll fix it, otherwise I'll just drive down to school.  No big deal, really.  I'll do whatever necessary.

Last time I think Dove and JoeDirt were involved.  That's right, I'm calling you fuckers out.  And Metbs as well.

To answer fknmclane...

- Yes, I'm throwing out the idea of not being forced to have three OF, one C, etc. Let's face it, we all make a lot of substitutions the way we play the regular ROM, and we frequently win up subbing an OF for a C or a 1B for a SS. It just seems to make a lot more sense to just scrap any positional requirements, except for pitchers.

- Honestly, it slipped my mind that you were all hosed with the chat room thing. If it's going to be a huge issue, we can handle the draft via the board, and give each player 24 hours to make a selection to the board. Or, you can get on YM or AIM and I can message you as the picks happen, and you can make your picks to me.

- JoeDirt and Dove are definitely invited from Season II, but I can't hold spots for them if they don't throw their hat into the ring.

- Chubbs needs to fix his damned avatar.

SEASON III BABY!!!

BeefMaster

I'd also prefer to do the draft on a board rather than in the chatroom - it's much easier for me to check the board than to schedule an undetermined block of time, especially if I'm working on the day of the draft (I can still do the draft from work; I did last time).

I'm willing to play under whatever rules, but my comment is that it would seem like there is more draft strategy if you have to have 1 player at each position, otherwise drafting is easy, you just take the best available hitter.

OK, then we'll do the draft on the board instead of the chat room. What should the length of time be that a person has to make a choice? 24 hours (I think that was the Season II time, from my research)? 12 hours?

To play devil's advocate about this, my thought was that even with unlimited drafting from the AS rosters, with eight teams to fill, you would still have to dig somewhat deep to complete your roster. But I can see your point, too. As a benevolent dictator commissioner, I'm willing to consider other feedback about this before making a decision.

Maybe we could make categories.

I would suggest:

- 3 Outfielders

- 4 Infielders

- 1 Catcher

- 4 Pinch-Hitters from any position

- Pitchers - I don't know if we should have any 4 pitchers or 2 starters and 2 relievers

Just some suggestions.  It's your baby fightonusc.

fightonusc

I'm leaning towards that solution, dvldog. I definitely want to limit to 2 SP and 2 RP only - we're not going to have a surplus of pitchers to go around, and if someone drafts four SPs, it causes a real headache. Especially since the computer will use all four pitchers in the simulation.

So, unless anyone has a major objection to it, I'll go with having your starting line-up consist of three OFs, four IFs, and a C, and your bench can be any four players.

OK, I believe that makes eight players. I'll get the draft order together and post shortly with that and draft instructions.

i like how you're doing this, fighton.... how will we treat the filling of positions if we want to start a (RBI traditional) bench player how will we agree on if he should be IF or OF? is there a stat website we can agree on as far as innings played at that position or games played at that position?  at least that way we could all be working from the same list.

Also would you have to start 4 IF, 3 OF and 1 C, or just have them on your roster?
