I've attached the ratings sheet here.
A few points of note:
Anyone with a good amount of AB's that hit over 300 but had weak power (Joe Mauer) got the new groundball attribute and a power of 875 or better...
I didn't do as much with the bench numbers as I would have liked, but they should be representative of 1 good pinch hit with their +64 power for first AB, and there are some benches with guys that are good enough to keep in the game.
Pitchers were difficult to rate, but it's a combo of different things that mostly represent ability to strike guys out. I kept the pitch speeds mostly on a similar scale, but some guys throw heat, and they should be represented. Guys who only throw heat will have their curve/normal speed be pretty fast, as this is rated for 1SP per game anything goes play, so you won't be pitching down+A all the time. Guys like chapman should still have their identity in that style.
Look it over, let me know if there are glaring roster issues, rating issues, etc. Next year, I start this earlier with my newfound rating tools I created and we're ready earlier. Anyways, once I make sure everything is stable (and I fix a weird bug I found) I'll post the ROM and take orders for carts (in a different thread).

Updated the following pitchers:

Verlander 12/8 (from 9/7)
Dickey - 10/5 (from 9/6)
Kershaw - 12/7 (from 9/7)
Gonzalez - 11/6 (from 9/7)
Medlen - 8/5 (from 11/5)
Swapped KC and Toronto uniforms
We can still fix roster issues before we release. Fixing things like overlay are easy and we might as well try to be mostly accurate.
Ill look into your ratings tweaks, but RBI is difficult to rate with the limited attributes we have, and really the game is about the Homerun, so power rules.
That said, I've tried to make run manufacturing and other small ball stuff be represented best I can. Sme guys who had nice OBP I bumped up a little bit, especially if they had low power, so there are a few guys who I made a judgement call on. I also mostly represent the previous year, but guys like Joey Votto need a little bump because of their pedigree.
Lastly, speed is based off of SB and triples, so some guys might be faster than real life.
That said, ill take a look at your suggestions. I tried several times to apply to a rom and I'm getting out of memory stuff, so I have to find in my rating sheet what is causing it.
Hopefully ill have that and other fixes up tnight.
I'm actually more excited about this then Cubs opening day Monday that I'm going 2...Good job Turd!!!!
GREAT work Turd! RBI nation thanks you. And since you asked for feedback I offer this:
This kind of fits with Shitpaw's post but a few notes
1) the Yankees
- Vernon Wells to Yanks Bench (from Angels Bench)
- Yanks do not have a catcher in the lineup, doesn't Cervilli need to be in there?
- move Hafner to Bench)
2) LAA
-Drop Wells from Bench (Sorry I don't know whose the best replacement for him, but I heard they signed Bill Hall)
3) BOS (echoing ShitPaw)
-As a sox fan (who will play this hacked version endlessly as the Sox, please please please) get Overbay off the Bench (esp. since he's with the Yankees now). Not changing this will both drive me mad, and jinx the Sox.
-Jackie Bradley Jr, should either be in the OF or on the bench (as the replacement for Overbay)
-Shitpaw noted Iglesias should be on team but he will likely be sent down in a week once Drew is back so I think the only other chance would be Nava on Bench (drop Ross).
- Buchholz should be the number 2 SP
--and shoudn't Lester's numbers be better than Dempster's??? Just asking.
4) Toronto
Might be a typo but you have the Tampa Bay pitchers listed TWICE (once under TB and but also under Toronto)
5) Washington
Might be a typo but you have the Texas pitchers listed TWICE (once under Texas and but also under Washington)
6) CIN
swap order for Broxton and Chapman in bullpen
Thanks boys. Will work on this when my relatives leave and kids are in bed.
Just a quick review of the Cubs and Sox, take these with a grain of salt since you may have a formula that come up with your numbers.
Anthony Rizzo should have more power (850?)
Keppinger should have less power (800?)
Konerko should have more power (900?)
Beckham should be faster (129?)
I would also put Beckham in the Sox starting lineup over Keppinger
It looks like the pitching staffs for some of the last teams are messed up (Washington, Texas, Toronto) some copy paste issues?
Price on Toronto, Darvish on Washington, ?? on Texas
Yeah, that's part of the bug I was talking about. I need to fix that tonight...it's more likely a character out of place or something.
Actually that sheet has to do with the fact that I included some players with more than 6 characters in their name. I fixed that but haven't uploaded a new sheet. Stay tuned.
I think Middlebrooks must have heard you. So far today he's 4-4 with THREE HOME RUNS.
Quote from: ShitPaw on 04/05/13, 04:42:58 PM
... Middlebrooks's power seems too low, compared to Gomes, but that's a judgement call. I see Middlebrooks as a power hitter more than I see Gomes as one, but it's hard to tell with the limited at-bats by both players.
HR and Contact numbers (or labels) are backward in the text file.
Not sure where you got your numbers for Aaron Hicks on the Twins, since he has no MLB stats prior to this year. I assume you're using projections or minor league equivalencies of some sort, which probably don't give him many steals, but the main strength of the kid's game this year is going to be speed, and 121 just seems ridiculously low.
Thanks. I'll look into that. As for hicks, I didn't have time to pour over rookies and I wanted to get the rom done. That said, when pointed out, I can look at it closer step one is getting a beta rom out.
I assumed as much on Hicks; no problemo.
God this is slow going. Alright boys, I think I found all the errors. Ill try to release a beta tonight.
Looks like I have everything ready to go. Last thing is to spend 10 minutes goign through the benches and putting highest powered guys first...
Just looking through old posts...Keppenger has high power, but he's got a groundball attribute that makes him hit more for average than for HR...that was given to anyone with 300 BA and low power numbers. The rest I bumped around a little based on yoru suggestions.
Version 1 of the ROM in the top thread...let me know if there are any issues...the website was updated with a few new pics too:
http://www.rbibaseball.us/ (http://www.rbibaseball.us/)
I need to give that site some love.
Played a game with the Indians and couldn't manage a hit.
...scary how accurate this is, man.
2 guys at 840-850 range is pretty bad. Couple that with it being defensively juiced for CPU opponents, it's not your fathers RBI, provided you pitch close to the plate to keep it honest.
Turd,
Your MOD is beautiful. Thanks for spending all the time you did on it. I played a few games as RED SOX last night and then looked over the ratings again for that team. If you are still open to some small tweaks I really think Ellsbury needs a better speed rating. Shitpaw addressed this in a different thread. Ellsbury's speed is listed at 127 but is atleast as fast as Victorino (rated 147), and arguably one of the fastest ball players in MLB. I couldn't even steal a base with his current rating, any chance you could bump it up to 147 to at least match Victorino?
I believe I dropped victorino down to 144 last night as a cap...
Victorino last year had 39 stolen bases and 7 triples (595 AB)...he def. deserves max original ROM speed for that...
Ellsbury had 14 SB and 0 triples in 303 AB. Given that in the past, he's stolen 70 in a season (what?) and 39 last year, I would buy him as a 140+ guy...
New ROM ver 1.1 available.
Notes:
Capped speed at 144 for all players, lowered Victorino slightly, gave Ellsbury max original speed (144)
There isn't much to base low AB guys' speed off of, so I keep them low until they produce...as for the other change, we're getting into the slippery slope of morphing the ROM as the season goes on (a drawback of releasing after the season started), so I think that should stay as-is for now...if it's a glaring mistake and a true starter or role player got missed by me and it would have been known before the season started, that's a different story...
As always, I'm open to discussion. The ROM is made better with community support...I can't wait to put this on my arcade and play some games...
Kind of makes me wish the league was back up and running...never got enough guys to try and play online, unfortunately. That said, I'm down with playing some dudes online if people want to...
Fair enough, I'll give him 130...
You know what I need for these roms is an assistant. A guy who looks over the ROM afterwards and picks up things like this...maybe a guy who has better power but was injured and didn't get the PA's the previous season, or finding speed issues with players who aren't represented by their stats...
Not that it'd fix rookies, but maybe taking a 3-year average would help with some of that...
Alright, 1.2 is available in the top thread. From this point forward, I'll be batching up any changes and putting out nightly builds so that I don't have to tweak so often.
Heh, funny you say that, I was just looking at the phillies...I feel like Utley should be higher too with this awesome OBP. I might tweak those two guys...

Apparently I've been under a rock for awhile and didn't know the groundball attribute was a real metric of R.B.I.
As recently as a few years ago I recall it was considered hogwash. Does it just primarily create GB's and line drives with little amounts of flyballs?
The old GB attribute is hogwash. The one I refer to is an actual hack out in where you can control the number of HR/ground all ratio. It uses a byte that was on every batter that was previously not being used.
Have you ever incorporated the groundball attribute into the original rom? Would such a thing perhaps make the speed of the Cards/Astros more viable?
Can pitchers homer in the 2013 rom? I think that is one facet sorely missing from RBI was the fact that no pitcher could go yard. If the mere threat was there on a perfect pitch/hit it would make the game a little more interesting. What about the DH rule and switch hitters?
Calm down, my friend :)
No, original ROM I haven't, but you could put the original ROM roster on my 30-team ROM and you'd be just fine.
Pitchers are base hitting stats in this ROM, so they aren't likely to hit a HR. There is no DH hack. This ROM does have a switch hitter hack, though.
Lastly, I forgot to do error ratings, so I need to set that up. Expect a new ROM tonight or tomorrow...
New ROM in top post...
what determines error ratings? sorry for the newbie question.
I used the team errors as a percentage of the average...then just assign a number 4-12 (original ROM range). That number basically determines how often the player in the field gets a BOP...higher the number, more often a bop will happen...the number is a fraction out of 255, so:
at 12, the fielding team will yield an error 4% of the time...
Here's the blurb from NW's original editor:
This page allows you to change the error probability for each team. Note that these fields only affect the chance of fielding errors (commonly referred to as "BOPs").
Any time a fielder is about to touch the ball on a BOP-eligible play (that is, after the bat has left the ball, but before the ball has hit the wall, unless the ball hit the wall before touching the ground) a random one-byte (0-255) number is generated. If that random number is less than the error probability for the fielder's team, a BOP occurs.
For example, say a team has an error probability of 10. When a fielder on that team is about to touch the ball (on a BOP-eligible play), a random number from 0-255 is generated. If that number is less than 10 (0-9), then the fielder will make a fielding error. This team has a 3.9% (10/256) chance of making a fielding error on any eligible play.
Setting a team's probability to zero eliminates the possibility of fielding errors. Setting it to 255 would cause that team's fielders to commit a fielding error on almost every eligible play (99.6%).
In an unprecedented run of bad luck, my buddy's team had 3 bops in a span of 4 hit balls. What are the odds of that?
Previously I'd seen maybe 2 out of 4-5 hits, and perhaps even 2 in a row, but the 3 for 4 was really devastating.
Can I assume the rom you posted is the regular (non-juiced) version? If so, do you mind posting the juiced version after the kinks are worked out of the first version?
The posted on ROM is the juiced version...kinks ar emostly worked out with the ROM, just slowly adjusting players as I see fit.
I played my ROM on my arcade with Milwaukee and lost to Nubs 7-4. Braun was 4-4 with a homer though...
WHEW! glad to hear the one posted is the juiced version! I've eeked out wins all the games I played but each has been very close and I was surprised at the quickness of the COM fielders. Good to know that I've been playing the juiced version. I thought this was the
regular one and I suddenly got shitty at this (that scared the beejesus out of me as to thinking how fast the fielders would be in the juiced version). Cool. I think I'll play with the one you've shared till the weekend then send in my order. Does that work with your schedule for producing them?

Yep.
I'd say. That's why I listen to team experts instead of trying to do the impossible and keep tabs on every team/player.
Updated first post...it's still 1.3, the same roms, no player data changed, I just added the juiced and non-juiced version (with code n for normal, j for juiced). I also updated the copyright info in the game to display that on the main screen so you know what version you're playing.
*bump*
because the ROMs are awesome.
Played 3 games of 2013 RBI this weekend, 2 on the NES and one on the arcade. There is simply no replacement for playing vs another person in the same room.

I often say the same thing about masturbation.
Version 1.5 is available in the top thread along with change log...
bump
I'm going to be taking edit requests for version 1.6 of the ROM...this will NOT be a complete overhaul of the ROM, but I would like to correct a few ratings for players who have been surprises this year both good and bad, as well as for players injured for a long time...
Current planned changes:
Increase contact/power for Jean Segura, maybe give him high power with the grounder hack to keep it in the yard
Drop Corey Hart to the bench
Any other tweaks you think should be made? Let's hear them...please, only glaring items that need some fixing to keep the updated feel...
Nothing? The crew will be the only ones getting any love then for 1.6 will I'll release in the upcoming week or so...
Ciriaco released from Padres this week
I'll put out a tweaked update after the break. Not goign to go through the whole damn ROM, but I will make adjustments for certain players and try to update the major trades...
Of course, I was just noting it. He was a bench guy anyway so no biggie either way. I do agree that Chris Davis needs a power bump. He's clobbering balls this season. I'd need to look at Matt Harvey (Mets) again to see if he might need a tweak too. But I think its a great idea to wait until after the trade deadline for a new/updated rom.
(Bump)
Because with the playoff starting its the pefect time to play a few games of Turd's sweet 2013 hack.
I'll be getting an updated stats database in November, and will start working on the ROM for 2014 shortly thereafter.
If all goes as planned, we could have a really good setup for selling carts this next season. Hopefully no more demand issues...
Any chance you'd make a 2013 playoff edition rom (just the playoff teams with modified/corrected rosters)? I'd me happy to help with rosters, though I'd need help with ratings.
I just got Internet back at my house and in the upcoming weeks I planned on actually putting together a rough draft post-season ROM. That way when the regular season starts for next year, I really just have to shuffle players around...when I have time I'll post that ROM. Just odn't know when I'll actually get to it.
Cool! And I'm serious about helping with roster info if it helps-- just let me know. You do GREAT work with the ROMs!
Sure thing, stay tuned in the upcoming weeks.
I'm just waiting for the lahman database to come out. Then I'll get working on a rom.
