Title: RBI 2014 Project Thread - Beta version 1.1 released!
Post by: Turd on 12/09/13, 09:03:37 AM
Hey everyone, just a heads up that I'll be starting the preliminary stuff for the 2014 ROM.  Once I get everything setup and the lineups take shape, I'll be once again asking for people's expert assistance with lineups and rotations.  Baseball.

Hells YES!
I'm finishing up finals this week, then I'm free. Let me know if you want help with projected lineups or rotations for AL teams

WIll do.  I'll always need lineup advice, though it might be kind of early, I need to start somewhere.

The Twins are going to be such a terrible RBI team this year.  Brian Dozier led the team in homers last year with 18, Mauer was the only regular with an OPS above .750, and their "speed" guys (Aaron Hicks and Pedro Florimon) didn't get on base enough to steal all that much.

Yeah, and compounding that is the fact that I rate my roms on a per-season basis and not on a 3-year average.  I like my ROM to represent a season in time.   (though admittedly, I have been thinking of changing it to an average, maybe it'd help people have a little more enjoyment when their player has a down year).

I like the way you do it, and the Twins have been so bad lately that three-year averages don't help them.  Willingham would've been better, I guess, but Mauer was about the same as last year and was hurt most of 2011, and a lot of the young guys struggled last year, too (Dozier, in particular, was awful).  They're just not a great baseball team, and they don't even have the token power hitters to put up good RBI numbers.

feel free to start posting projected lineups, though I'll likely ask again to shore them up when it gets closer...

Thanks, beef! My biggest hurdle right now (and every season) is rating their pitch speeds.  It's the only piece of data I have to manually look up for each player.  But, once I get the data, I just convert into RBI speeds and tweak here or there.  I've got the Brewers and the Twins done.

The good news is I'm starting REALLY early this year, so I should be sitting great when things heat up and all I'll really need at that point is to react to trades and free agency.

I'm trying to work out a donor-less cart sale again this year as well as working on a newer, cleaner website...

If I had time, and I don't, I'd rate an "alternate ROM" that had 2 different starting pitchers and two different relievers, and maybe a slightly different lineup.  That way you could have almost a full rotation, and a little difference in your lineup.

Too bad my ol' partner that used to help fell off the face of the earth, or I'd have some help in that area.

If you or someone else do happen to keep track of the "alternate ROM" players for RBI1, we could get some good synergy going.... you'd be ready to plug the full roster right into our RBI3 modifier and spit out a complete 2014 preseason with 10 pitchers & 14 batters per team.

OK, so I play RBI regularly still, primarily with my son--and I play it the same way I've been playing it for the last 20(?) years...on my NES with the original game cartridge.  I have some questions if anybody feels like answering...can you play online?  against other people?  if so, do you actually play on your computer, or can you somehow play on your tv/using a controller?  I have also seen on-line screen-shots of contemporary players...is this only on-line stuff? or can you somehow get games that have more than the original teams that we all know and hate...I have more questions but that's enough to get started...thanks if you have anything to say.--MVH

Yes, but only with an emulator on a computer

Quote.is this only on-line stuff? or can you somehow get games that have more than the original teams that we all know and hate
Yes, I put out a 30-Team ROM every year with updated players, that's what the thread you're currently in is for.  You can play it on a computer, or get it put on a cart and play it on an NES.

I hope to be selling cart versions this year again. Any more questions, ask away...

Sorry, have no idea about anything you said...I'm beyond old school...I don't know what an emulator is or a ROM or a cart or a cart version...all I know is I play RBI original version on an NES...I have wireless internet and a modem (Comcast/xfinity), but wouldn't have a clue as to how to play RBI on a computer...do you use keys? or a mouse?  that sounds like zero fun to do it that way...by the same token, I think I'd enjoy playing others and see who out there has game..
Title: Re: RBI 2014 Project Thread
Post by: Turd on 12/13/13, 10:11:42 PM
A cart is short for cartridge, what you put in your old-school NES.  A ROM is the data that existed on those old NES carts ripped to your computer so you can play it on your PC.  An emulator is a piece of free software that "emulates" the NES, and it's the thing that plays the "ROM" (or game).  You play it on your computer using NES controllers or gamepads or whatever. I have actual NES/SNES controller adapters that let me plug my real NES controllers into my computer.  You can buy them at retrousb.com.

Otherwise, what we do is we take that ROM, edit all teh new players onto it, and then "burn" it back to a cart to play on our NES.

Make sense?
Title: Re: RBI 2014 Project Thread
Post by: mjvanhekken on 12/13/13, 10:17:23 PM
That makes some sense, yes--thanks.  How much-ballpark (lol) do those adapters go for to play with a controller to your computer?  Also, how much would it cost me all in to get whatever tech I need to play the way you're describing...also, where or how do you get your hands on the ROM updates?  They're not sold in stores are they?  Lastly, know any good places on-line or real world to get a decent working NES console anymore?  Thanks again for the time...
Title: Re: RBI 2014 Project Thread
Post by: Turd on 12/13/13, 10:22:03 PM
You're totally hijacking my project thread, brother, but I'll let it slide.

The adapters are like, $27 a piece I think...

The ROM updates are not sold in stores.  They are done by me, for free, and you can get them at rbibaseball.us.  My 2014 ROM is currently in development.

To play the way I'm describing, you need:
Nestopia (emulator)
Rom (the game - get at rbibaseball.us, or there are also some ROMs on dee-nee.com's homepage)
A gamepad or other way to control the players on the PC.
Playing online is another whole monster I won't get into, since by the sound of it, you need to get your feet wet first in just playing the game on your computer.

Lastly, we will possibly be making the 2014 rom into carts and selling them...covers the cost of the circuit boards and whatnot.  We'll see how that goes...

This is my first post here but I hope it helps, I'm an avid RBI baseball fan and same goes with the Cardinals, who may be particularly tricky to place due to several players stepping up big mid season and a few big free agent adds.

Carpenter 3B
Peralta SS
Holliday OF
Craig OF
Adams 1B
Molina C
Ellis/Wong 2B
Bourjos OF

Bench

Wong/Ellis
Descalso
Jay
Robinson

the bench is definitely up in the air

Pitching

SP Wainwright
SP Wacha
RP Martinez
RP Rosenthal

this I feel pretty solid about, Wacha coming off a crazy hot last two months / playoffs would be probably who people would want to see in the game, but Miller or Lynn would make sense if that's too risky.

welcome to dee-nee, cansco.  Thanks for the contribution.  I'll match your lineup with the one I put in place and make appropriate changes.

Don't worry about things being in flux, the same goes for my Brewers.  I just need to get a base down.  After things iron out, I'll post the rosters and let people make any suggested changes.

My thought for the pitching staff was to include Wainwright and Miller and then if I made an alt ROM I'd rate the #3 and #4 pitchers.  That said, I try to make the ROM a mix of realistic personnel + who the people would most want to see in the game when playing.

So, as long as Wacha makes sense and has a good shot to be a heavy part of the team and is a fan favorite, I'd consider putting him in over Miller.  I sure as hell won't be playing with those stinky red birds, so it matters a bit less to me ;)

Anyways, thanks for stopping by, feel free to follow along with this post and offer up your thoughts as the project progresses.

Just a progress update, I've been able to automate a lot more this time around than last time, so I'm pretty close to being able to just putting in lineups, doign a little manual work, and having a base ROM ready to go.

I probably won't release it until things solidify any more, but we're so fucking far ahead of schedule, that editing a ROM no longer feels like a chore.
Title: Re: RBI 2014 Project Thread
Post by: Turd on 12/20/13, 07:43:59 AM
Someone mentioned Yu Darvish...not a bad suggestion either.

So, a little nugget of an update, I think I'm going to offer a second ROM that is basically the same ROM as the first with the only change being including the #3 & 4 guys in the rotation instead of #1 & 2.  This way people can play with 4 of the 5 pitchers for their team if they desire.

My question to you is, should the relievers change in the second ROM as well? Or should we just stick with their two most notable RP's for both ROMs?  Whether or not I do it comes down to timing, but I have a lot of stuff automated so time *might* not be a factor, but I still wanted to get thoughts on whether people would like to see consistency in both ROMs.  The drawback of changing the RPs means that you'd probalby get your closer in one ROM but not the other, or you'd maybe put your best reliever/closer in one ROM and your second best in the second ROM and they wouldn't be together...

I'm sure this has been asked ages ago, but any chance we can find room in the RBI ROM for another 2 pitching slots?
Title: Re: RBI 2014 Project Thread
Post by: Turd on 12/20/13, 07:54:32 AM
I'm not sure. I could probably ask, but I'm assuming that'd be more difficult than you think because it'd affect the AI on how the CPU subs in pitchers.  Just adding them isn't a problem, but actually having the game utilize them is a different story.  Plus, I'm not sure how we're doing with available space left on the ROM...last I heard there isn't even enough room to add any more teams, and more data = less space to add hacks and other cool shit (though admittedly we are approaching a saturation point where we have MOST of the hacks we have desired for a long time).  Most :)

That, and I have two hacks on the discussion table right now that will be awesome if they actually come to fruition.  I'll keep them under wraps until I find out the feasibility of them actually happening.

Precisely why I need to make sure it's possible before I promise anything.  The game is awesome the way it is, but I have some ideas that could enhance without breaking the core of the game.

Alright, prelim rosters completed. Any team experts who don't speak up will result in their team's roster being defaulted to what's in this text file (barring any updates or signings)

I'll likely set a freeze date on this to try and get some of the camp stuff fleshed out and then cut it off so we don't get into roster creep...

I posted the text file in the first post, but here's the link:
https://forums.dee-nee.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=29103.0;attach=28198

Let me know your thoughts and I'll start working on the ratings, which at this point is pretty easy...

Twins' center fielder is Alex Presley, not Ryan Pressly.  I'd like to say that Pinto will start over Suzuki, but Terry Ryan has made statements to the contrary (and, actually, there's a decent chance they start Pinto in AAA, in which case the backup catcher is probably Chris Herrmann).  I'd consider it unlikely that Parmelee makes the roster if Kubel also does, but no one seems to have any idea who would be the backup center fielder.  If you want a guy who's close to a lock to be on the roster, Eduardo Escobar is probably the best bet, although he's terrible.

Pitching-wise, replace Fien with Jared Burton or Anthony Swarzak (Burton is the setup man; Swarzak was their best righty reliever last year).  Hughes over Correia would be defensible in the rotation, but neither are all that good, so whatever.

I think the Rockies looks pretty good but some minor changes: they've so far announced a platoon in center (so Stubbs will only play against LHP) and Cuddyer will bat second (!).  Also, it appears DJ LeMahieu has the edge over Rutledge for 2B because he hit better last year (and he's a much better fielder). I would change it to look like this:

odd note, on the text file it has CC Sabbathia in BOTH SP slots for NYY but on the board it correctly lists Sabbathia and Tanaka.
Similar duplicates showing up on LAD too. I downloaded the txt file twice and the same issues emerge. Is it something in the file? Or just my dumb computer when I open the file?

I'm a little late to the party, but I'll throw in my 2 cents on my Tigers.  LF was going to be somewhat of a platoon involving Dirks and Davis, but with Dirks now out 3 months it will be a mess.  The more sure thing may be to put Iglesias at the bottom of the lineup as a starter because he should play everyday once his shin splints calm down.  Early on it seems like Ausmus is leaning towards Kinsler leading off and having Jackson hit 5th or 6th.  Rondon could also be an option as the set up man instead of Alburquerque.  Who knows.  I guess it comes down to whether you want to put Dirks or Iglesias as a starter.  I don't know how you like to handle injuries.  Totally your call.

I bought the cart last year and had a blast with it.  You guys do amazing work.  Thanks!

the three letter abbreviations bother me. I'm sure the three letters couldnt be trademarked or anything, so i don't see the trouble in using the first letter or the team name. I think St Louis should be StL or STL no matter what. IMHO.

We are facebook friends, I think. I posted a video of him kicking ass from this Saturday.  What kind of details are you looking for? Like stats? There are only two kids on the Kindergarten team, he's one of them.  He's wrestled 7 matches thus far in two tourneys, and is 6-1 overall.  He took home a gold medal and a participation ribbon (this last tourney didn't give out medals to grade K).

Post by: Turd on 03/11/14, 08:33:47 AM
He just turned 6.  He freakin' loves it...he was positively dominating the first 6 kids, but his last match the kid was probably slightly better than him...a little faster and stronger and had control of him most of the match (plus he got the wind knocked out of him 10 seconds in, so that isn't good for the tone of the rest of the match).  That said, he went back out and fought really hard...he's a natural talent and will likely only get better...all his coaches are raving about how "if he sticks with it he'll be a great wrestler."

It wasn't high on my list of sports, but my wife and I have come around, considering how much fun he is having, and thus we're having fun.

At the risk of sounding like a gloating dad, he's actually quite a good lefty power hitter in baseball, and has natural talent in basketball as well.  He sure didn't get his athletic prowess from me.

Awesome - the keys to young kids wrestling are enjoyment and he doesn't freak out when he loses.   Some kids have a tough time with the second part, which affects the first one.  Keep it up, you'll have the next Ben Askren on your hands!

Regarding the Braves: Medlen is out for season. Beachy is visiting the Dr. and may need another Tommy John's surgery.
Minor is also injured right now.

So I imagine the top two out of the rotation now will be Tehran and newly signed Santana.

TURD,

Just checking in on the ROM. I have a mass amount of work to do this week... which of course means I am looking for a distraction to put it off a little longer. ;-)
Any chance the ROM (in whatever draft version its in, pops up this week?)
Also, I know that I, along with others have been posting any SERIOUS injury updates (like player out for the year), are you still looking for us to post those? Or is that slowing down the process? Is that info better shared after a draft is released but before the final version or CARTS are created?

Not slowing down the process, I haven't been able to do any work on it this week.  I'm going to take the rosters as is (with posted updates) and make changes.  I have about a few hours of work to do on it yet and then I'll release the beta version. STay tuned, perhaps I'll get some time one of these evenings. I've been going to bed early due to exhaustion.  Been workin' too hard at my real job lately!

Interesting project idea that I'll probably never get time for...rate 25 players per team and write a web page that lets the players select the lineups and generate a ROM based off of that...

I guess it remains to be seen just how well the new RBI does and if it still warrants a project...

Alright, so the Tigers have had a bunch of guys hurt and made some trades (acquired Romine and Gonzalez to split time at SS to replace Iglesias).  Things still aren't too clear, but here's where things could be as of now.  The pitchers you had initially look good.  I think the lineup could be something like this, keeping in mind that you could put any one of several guys from the LF or SS platoons in the 8th spot.  Dirks would be the guy to put there if he were healthy.  No worries if things are already set in stone.

Thanks for all the work you do.  Looking forward to it.

Ron Gardenhire was quoted the other day as saying that Aaron Hicks will probably get another shot as the starting center fielder, pushing Presley to the bench.  Assuming Kubel does make the roster as the starting DH, as has been assumed (he still hasn't been officially added to the 40-man roster), that still leaves the last RBI roster spot up in the air - Josmil Pinto, Chris Herrmann, Chris Parmelee, and Chris Colabello are competing for two spots.  Pinto and Colabello probably make the most sense (best backup catcher, righthanded RF/1B), but Gardy's talked about carrying three catchers so Pinto can DH, and Parmelee is out of options, so still not clear how it will shake out.  In order of preference on the RBI roster, Pinto > Parmelee > Colabello > Herrmann.

So maybe not Kelly in the 8th spot for the Tigers.  Better to put him on the bench and go with Davis, Gonzalez, or Dirks (injured for now).  Really isn't that big of a deal though.  Everything else mentioned before looks pretty good - especially the boobs and beers.

I really do want to get it done. But honestly this new game coming out and the show are really darkening my motivation.

Don't get down. Your ROMs are sweet and may have more accurate stats than rbi 14. And we already know the gameplay will be the only choice for old-timers who love that RBI feel (even your juiced version is preferred as at least the games are close)! So close to the finish line, just power that baby out and then relax and enjoy it and we'll see what "MLB: the show" and MLB's "RBI 2014" offers.

I've had a little more downtime, so I've been able to get a good head of steam on this project.  Plus, I leave for Minnesota for 4 days for training next week and I'm going be bored in the hotel room for those days, so I'm sure I can finish this up by end of next week.  Maybe earlier...

Yeah, it's good, but won't reach full potential until it hits my console...that said, I still feel the desire to play the original.  I just wish somehow we had the DH hack working for my ROM.  I think it's really the only "necessary" thing missing.

Well, I'm done with the ratings.  Things left to do:

Clean up ratings which involves adjusting guys with a lot of blown saves, etc
Adding some missing players from when I first started the lineups
Compile everything to the ROM (which is always challenging since my editor is flaky and I haven't fixed it.  I often need to massage some things to get it working...

I'll release it when I finish the stuff in this post, with cover art to follow (I don't want that to hold up the beta).  The rosters will be a bit out-of-date, but I will definitely be fixing and updating those.  It's easier to manage once we get the base ROM completed.

Also, I will probably be tweaking some of the drop ratings after the fact.  If you have any guys you know of (like RBI Empire posted in the off-speed pitch thread) that have special characteristics, list them here.  Even if it sounds obvious (Kimbrel's slider).  With so much to compile, having a list always helps.  You can list guys with a special pitch that just has to be represented.
Title: Re: RBI 2014 Project Thread (preliminary 2014 rosters attached)
Post by: RBI Empire on 04/16/14, 12:39:29 PM
Unfortunately I'm only really familiar with the Braves. So, yeah, Kimbrel and his slider. R.A. Dickey is another guy that you might want to make unique. Maybe really high stamina and really slow fast ball and drop pitch. I can't think of any other guys that have crazy breaking pitches or are that unique.

Where do you get your pitchers data? Do you use fangraphs?
Title: Re: RBI 2014 Project Thread (preliminary 2014 rosters attached)
Post by: Turd on 04/16/14, 11:36:17 PM
Hey RBIEmp, yeah, I get my stuff from fangraphs.  I have some stuff that rips all the pitch speeds from there and does some combinations of things to get breaking speeds and whatnot.  It's not an exact science, but hey, it works!

Anyways, the Beta A version of the ROM is posted at http://www.rbibaseball.us/

Please note that these rosters are slightly out-of-date.  Feel free to post any updates you'd like to see here and we'll discuss!  There will be plenty  more releases, but for now, it's at least a great base to start playing if you should desire.  Included in the download is a regular, a juiced, and roster text.  Go get it!!

P.S. None of the surprises are in this ROM, it's still "in-progress."

I'm from Texas, so I see a lot of AL West games and I'm happy to help with those teams, and some other things I saw at a quick glance

Astros -- Martinez isn't on the team anymore, I would replace him with Springer who has very good power and speed and so so contact (went 37/40 HR/SB last year in the minors, bats righty).  I'd put him in the line up in the 4 hole and move Grossman to the bench.  You want to also want to swap Corporan with Villar and bump Villars speed rating by 1 or 2.  They'll probably call up Singleton for the rest of year at first, but we can wait and see on that.

LA Angels -- main line up is good...their bench needs and update: CPena and Green aren't on the roster.  You can replace them with Ian Stewart (low contact, above avg power, avg speed) and JB Shuck (good contact, no power, above avg speed), both are lefties

Twins --  Presley isn't on the Twins anymore.  He's replaced by Hicks - switch hitter, low contact, low power, above avg speed.  On the bench, Mastro isn't on the roster anymore...they've got a lot of injuries, so they may shake up the roster later, but I'd say Escobar would be a good replacement, switch hitter, decent contact, no power, average speed

Yankees-- Ryan & Nunez not on the roster...I'd replace them with Solarte (switch hitter, avg cont, avg power, avg speed) and Anna (lefty, pretty vanilla offensively).  Anna may not last all year on the roster, but I'm guessing Solarte does

Mets - Davis traded to Pirates

A's -- flip Donaldson and Lowrie in batting order

Pirates - Swap Davis (from Mets) in for Ishikawa

Mariners -Peguro for Almonte (switch hitter, avg contact, low power, plus speed)

Rangers -(Soria is closer) could swap Feliz with Ogando

i'm sure it was a mistake, but you have shin soo-choo's power set at 140. every time he makes contact, it's a nubber to the catcher.

GREAT ROM again TURD!
just played on beta C (juiced) and had a few suggestions/corrections

Red Sox:
Sizemore bats R but he's a lefty
Middlebrooks should have a bit more power (move from 812 to 835)
Napoli should have more power (move from 843 to 860)
Carp should have lower power (move from771 to 760)

NY teams: the Uniforms for the teams are switched (currently NYY is in Blue/Orange and NYM is in Black/grey)

Also, when I played and used all 4 pitchers in the next game (without resetting it) I was only offered the two relievers and no SP. IS that intentional? Shouldn't there be at least one SP available?

Lastly, please remind me the value and range of CNT (Contact?)
Title: RBI 2014 Project Thread - Beta version C released!
Post by: Turd on 04/22/14, 12:13:23 PM
Contact is the penalty subtracted from power when you don't square up. There are 6 zones on the bat and each zone multiplies the penalty. 0,1,2 etc.

Thanks for the updates! I'm not sure how the unis got all messed up, that was pretty much set.  I'll look into it and the rating increases.

That's standard RBI behavior.  If you're playing a no-reset series/season, you can't use any starting pitcher in consecutive games.

Nope that's from the original game. You're only supposed to use one SP per game in a series.

Post by: BeefMaster on 04/22/14, 01:00:41 PM
Turd, is the .txt file in the first post up-to-date?  If so, the Twins roster could use a couple updates - Presley (Alex, not Ryan) ended up getting waived and picked up by the Pirates, and Parmelee got sent to AAA to start the season.  The opening-day roster would've been this:

Dozier
Mauer
Willingham
Kubel (DH)
Arcia
Plouffe
Suzuki
Hicks
Florimon

Colabello
Escobar
Pinto

Nolasco
Correia
Fien (or Burton)
Perkins

They just picked up Sam Fuld from the A's, but he wasn't with the Twins to start the season and didn't replace any of the guys that are on the roster above (they had added Darin Mastroianni after Willingham went on the DL, and they waived him to make room for Fuld).

I would note that, as terrible as the Twins look in RBI based on last year's stats, they are currently second in the majors in runs per game.

For the NY teams, you're right.  Dammit.  This is why I'm doing betas for the first few releases.  When I go to a full version, I'll be definitely thoroughly testing every team.

As for Boston, thanks for the suggestions on power.  This ROM (and all my ROMs) are rated based on last year's stats (and a little gut feel) and are rated in relation to all the other batters.  The only exceptions I make are generally if a guy has high average with a good number of AB and low HR, or a high OBP as a lead-off guy with not a lot of HR.

I'll probably keep them where they are right now until the next big ratings cutoff.

I'm contemplating a 3-year average next year to determine ratings instead of just a single year to take some of the weight off of a single year in terms of how it affects a player.  We'll see how it goes, that might get kind of nutty.  One year at a time!

Happy to help. As for the power changes I made those two upgrade suggestion because both Napoli and middlebrooks have a lot o power (especially Napoli who hits them farther than Papi or anyone else on the team). Middlebrooks just needs more power because that's truer to his hitting-- though hes also a high K guy so maybe its offset by affecting that rating.

Don't forget the switch of sizemore to lefty

And a new one: I just played as Dodgers and all looks good except Figgins is in the minors-- with no sign of a call-up. Does anyone know who should replace him on the roster? Maybe the backup Catcher: Butera?

Turd, I think you have the Tigers starting lineup and pitchers perfect.  For the bench, Dirks and Kelly look good.  Romine is a switch hitter but other than that looks good.  Lombardozzi is on the Orioles.  For the last bench spot, I think there are two guys to consider, Danny Worth and JD Martinez.  Worth is a utility infielder (boring for RBI purposes, but more sure to be with the team long-term).  Martinez is an outfielder who just got called up from Toledo after hitting 10 bombs already this year.  I guess he was in the bigs with Houston the last few years.  It would be cool (for me as a Tigers fan) to have some pop on the bench.  Not sure how long he stays in the bigs though.  (l Looked at the roster right below the version C download link.  Hopefully that's right)

Are you still considering doing carts again this year when you get the rosters set?  I coach HS baseball and we set up a TV with and NES and RBI 2013.  All of us 30-something coaches are big into it.  Just moved it to the storage shed/press box now that the weather has warmed up.

Thanks for the work you're doing.

Batting orders for SF should go something like this:

CF - Pagan
RF - Pence
3B - Sandoval
C - Posey
LF - Morse
1B - Belt
SS - Crawford
2B - Hicks

Although they just moved Sandoval to the 5th spot (with Posey and Morse sliding up to 3-4) in this last series, so you might want to wait to see if that sticks.

Ah, completely forgot to double-check on your website.  Hicks actually bats low in the order rather than leadoff (Presley was originally projected as the leadoff man before Hicks won the center field job), but that's not a big deal, and the roster's 12 position players are solid.

If you haven't frozen the roster yet, may I suggest the Braves line-up look like this?

1. Heyward
2. BJ Upton
3. Freeman
4. J. Upton
5. Gattis
6. Uggla
7. Johnson
8. Simmons

The bench looks good. Schafer is definitely the fastest player on the team but Heyward could use a slight bump and should be faster than both the Uptons and Simmons (maybe 131?). He was hurt a lot last season but the year before he had 20+ steals and he flies around the bases.

Also maybe lower Simmons Cnt too. He only struck out 55 times in 658 plate appearances last season, the fewest on the team. Compare that to Johnson who struck out 115 times in 547 plate appearances. That is if Cnt effects that sort of thing.

I can't really argue with your pitchers. Looks pretty good with a mix of lefty and righty.

2. Miller SS
3. Cano 2B
4. Smoak 1B
5. Hart RF
6. Seager 3B
7. Ackley 2B
8. Zunino C

with Hart not in RF (He DHs a lot now)
Almonte
Miller
Cano
Smoak
Seager
Saunders
Ackley
Zunino

I'm excited to see this year's art work for the Cart and/or the box. I'd like to have a cart of this years ROM made. There are a few online people who do this. I think they can be made for $25-35 each. Nesreproductions.com or thenesdump.com are two good spots I've used before. I bet others are interested in owning the cart but if not I may just order one. I'd love to use whatever artwork Turd has made-- last years was FANTASTIC! But no worries, if you'd rather hold on that I might go ahead and get one made with no or just  generic artwork.

I wish it was PAPI but I think Turd broke the tie vote and went with Chris Davis.

Yeah, sorry, it was Davis.  Chris Davis epitomized the RBI spirit with his huge power season...though looking back I kind of wish it was Papi too, as it seems people trickling in would have liked that as well.

To quote that New Era commercial from a few years back, "You no Big Paaaaapi!"

I really don't care who's on it.  It will be cool either way.

Lurker coming out of the dark here. I wanna get this in the Playchoice 10 at the arcade I run. Shit's on free play, too, so everyone can come have some fun. The TSB 14 I'm running in there now is pretty awesome.  I don't even need the cart as it runs pretty wonky in the cart (I have to open 'em up & run 'em bare for stability), just the innards.

That is amazing.  How do you get the data onto the boards to run?  Is there some custom hardware/software combo that you use to write them to an existing board or something?

I was thinking this might be a problem because the arcade and NES ROMs aren't exactly the same, but then I remembered that the arcade one is the "Vs." series; I think PlayChoice 10 ran regular NES games.

Pics! That's great...if you ever get any stories or fun games you play with the updated ROM, please post back.  The more RBI content we get here the better...

Could anyone who is intersted in a cart please PM me their email address? I need to see how much inventory we'll need and whatnot...consider this as a "sign up to receive more information when it becomes available" sort of thing :)

Hey guys, I should have an update on price today, I've been told the carts are ready, and those who showed interest early will get an email with the details before they go on sale to the public.
