Does it really matter? He'd probably drafting Maury Wills first anyway, only to trade him later for Steve Sax.
No matter how bad his draft is, I have a feeling Darky will make it to the finals.

I flip-flopped/reversed Tempo's draft order from his NES league - explained that in the signup thread. Besides, I've drafted next to last twice and last in the last three drafts, and there are perks as GM and league commissioner considering the work I'll be putting in for the league. There'll be no mistakes this draft or dumb trades this season - back to Empire style management and baseball!

The Empire always expects to be in the finals! As long as I don't fuck up this draft and trade away talent, the Empire should be really strong. Our advanced scouting has done a sound job to prepare us for this draft. Aaaaand, no worries, every step will be taken to assure that there'll be no "hand of god" suspicions. And if Fighon is willing to sim the Empire's games, that would be great. Also, we took Ryno's team and turned it into a contender in season IV when Fighton ran it, but lost in the finals after turning that team around and getting to the finals. Then I had some good drafts in seasons, V and VI - didn't make the finals in season VI.
This pool of GMs will make for a tough draft and the draft itself will be a challenge since you just can't take any OF. I wonder if Ryno will draft all lefties again!
I may have my pick ready by this weekend just to get it out there. Our scouts have seen enough from the Arcade players, and yes, there are certain players who play below/above their ratings - so more of the ghosts in the machine!
I'm tired of getting fucked over in every fucking fantasy arcade rbi draft. Darky is pulling some crazy bullshit shenanigans and I don't appreciate it!!!!!!!!!
Lol
GDavis, do you think the observer effect has any affect on the games? ;)
The first pick is not as advantageous in the arcade version as it is in the NES. The middle to the end of the draft list will have two hitters who should hit over .600 and should have 18 jacks a piece.
Last pick on a whim sucks chocolate salty balls.
Does it suck less than the guy who is running the draft giving himself first overall because he felt like it?
All I did was reverse Tempo's draft order! Blame him!
Quote from: Darky on 08/30/18, 03:34:06 PM

Wait, so rather than actually have a legitimate process, you ACTUALLY intentionally gave yourself the first pick?
So tempo is the real sonofabitch here? You just can't trust a white Sox fan.
If I had pulled a stunt like this in the last fantasy league, someone would have flown out to LA to personally crucify me.

That would have been Darky.
I think it's entirely possible we could have a lockout before a draft even happens.
The first 6 players who top the power ratings are all at 975. Then the next 5 players are at a power rating of 945. So Frankie Says Relax! I can understand there is some fear of what the Empire will be capable of by finally being able to draft early!
btw, Fighton, are you going to have time to sim my games that the Empire plays in for the season?
So you are saying:
Don't worry that we didn't have a fair randomization of the draft order, because here are some numbers.
Is that right?
Also, it's pretty crazy that Davey Johnson has such crazy high power numbers. I never realized that he had one Brady Anderson-like season where his HR numbers more than doubled his second-best season.
Interesting to see such a wide swing in contact rating. 0-40.
There is an issue with the SP in the file you posted. You listed Clemens and Cy Young (sb a reliever instead of Tiant)
I strongly disagree with Jack Clark being listed at 3B (only 9 inning of 3B in his career, none with the Cards), Leon Durham also never played 3B

Ah man, huge issue that is fixed and will update the spreadsheet in the first post where it's attached.

I did too and initially I had all the players in the positions they started at the most. However, I had to move around some players from 1B and RF since they went too deep past the 10 for starters. 3B, LF, and CF got way too thin after the first 4-5 players and I didn't want to have a bunch of talent on the bench and limit overall choices for everybody's starting 8. So for the sake of the quality of the league, I was forced and even encouraged by some members to move some players to even out 3B, LF, and RF. I even had to move Lansford over to 2B to ease the pain for the 10th spot for second basemen. I hope you understand that there was just too much of a dropoff in contact/power at those mentioned positions and I didn't want to have quality players riding pine.
The official spreadsheet has been fixed and updated in the first post in this thread.
This is weird.
The draft will be very fascinating. I'm sure there'll be crazy surprises in the first 4-5 rounds.
so when is the draft again?

Thursday. Read the opening post in this thread - dates and times are there. 30 minute window for picks and remember, you can't just draft any OF, it has to be by position. If there was a draft to do your homework, this one is it.
I'm quitting if I can't get Jody Davis in a favorable draft slot.
it's like he took something fun, flipped it & reversed it
I'll try and post all the players and their positions on the opening post of this thread if it allows me to fit in whatever X amount of characters are allowed. If not, I may just open a new thread for the draft in case anyone doesn't have excel access.
So after the draft, I am thinking of getting the season going and hopefully will have half the season done before October 11th which is the date I go to Vegas to start my 7-week vacation. The season and playoffs should be done before Thanksgiving - 2-3 slate of games a week so it'll be bonertown for FRBI junkies who need to be fed games in short intervals.
Darky, why not just make your pick and get this started early?

For the 1st pick of the draft, The Empire selects: CF Hack Wilson
(https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/WrcAAOSwrURXPe2w/s-l300.jpg)
Need a ruling. By picking before the official draft date and time, the aforementioned drafted player is given to the last on the draft list and the drafting team forfeits his original pick. I'm right...certain of it
pretty sure dark side has to select nes version al pedrique
So moved. All those in favor?
Been up since 5 AM and in class until 9:45. I'll try and pick when I get home if I'm not asleep before I walk in the door.
I will take SS Ernie Banks
Strassy going with Mr. Cub
In an all-time draft I clearly need to go for the 3rd best player of all time.
Davey Johnson 2B
I have no idea how a 40 contact rating will play out - but I can't pass on that awe inspiring power.

I guess I'll take Dave Kingman.

Yeah, you guys just make sure to get your picks in before the weekend ends. I explained in the other thread how there'll be a no tolerance/waiting policy starting Monday. If all the picks aren't in by Monday morning at 9am dee nee time, Ryno is free to make his two picks. And I won't hesitate to make my next two picks on Monday or any day next week even if 4-5 people wait it out. Anyone who waits next week and gets skipped over, that'll be your bad.

Ryno, just 1 pick today since we have to wait for Beef and that your next round pick will be valid at the 9am time slot that is in the schedule. So choose one of the players you just selected and that player won't be official until 9pm.
If Beef magically comes in to make his pick and decides he wants WClark, he may take him since Ultimate picked earlier than his 8:30 time slot. Then Ultimate would have to re-select. Doesn't look like Beef will make it though.

I'm... not sure? As far as I can tell, the pick should have been legal even though it was late. Darky please to comment.
He probably just crossed it out in the wrong thread. He's been crossing out drafted players in the other thread so that we know who and who isn't available.
cool cool
Thon is crossed out. When I woke up today, I got caught up on Beef's pick and then did other stuff and forgot to cross out Thon. I do my best to cross out the drafted player in the other thread as soon as he is drafted to make sure we are all aware of who's left. And of course, I immediately update the drafted list in this thread.
I crossed out Thon hours ago btw, hahaha - you guys didn't even double check!

I'm going to add my two cents and say changing the schedule on short notice is unwise. It's quite possible that people won't see the change and may miss picks as a result.

I informed about the change on Friday and last night. Just about everybody made their draft selections over the weekend, so I assume they are aware about the change. If not, we'll make sure to inform everybody if they are not aware. if there are complications, I may be inclined to give elbow room for late picks for only today.

Well, I did warn everybody on Friday about the strict policy and that I would draft even if more than one person was skipped. I'm not the first to not wait, but regardless, everybody was told to check the schedule and to make proxies and so forth. Blame yourselves for lollygagging, I'm not the bad guy here.
you're the fucking Empire. You are literally the bad guy here.
...I wasn't the one lollygagging. I figured not being an obsessive asshole and having some courtesy would be the proper thing to do. It doesn't really matter since I wasn't going to pick those guys, but it's highly unscrupulous for you to pick when I had just made a post about waiting for GDavis
Tempo - I appreciate you being a gentleman. I was unable to pick because I was in Jiu (Jew?) Jitsu class
I made the policy really clear on Friday and specifically clarified the situation you just mentioned in that I would draft if people waited for others to make a pick. Courtesy would have been for GDavis to know his time and find a proxy if he was going to miss his pick.
No problem. My biggest dee nee pet peeve is people taking drafts way too seriously...and skipping someone who just posted that they were waiting for someone else is prototypical behavior of that type.
Take a pick away from tempo for complaining about how seriously we take drafts. Now!
You made the rules clear and insisted that everyone stick to the schedule and then you changed the schedule.

Definitely one of the worst. .658 OPS. He was pretty much an old-timey white version of Ozzie Smith, without the backflips.
Ray Schalk seems to be even slightly worse. Of all HOF members, he had the fewest home runs (11), lowest avg (.253), lowest slugging % (.316), and third lowest OPS (.656).
He had a huge entry in one of the Baseball Hall of Shame books I read a ton when I was a kid. I want to say he was the guy who made them pass a rule against stealing first base, although I am not 100% sure of that and not about to google it before I post this.
I never even considered that stealing first base could be a thing. It would be interesting to see.

I looked it up, and I was wrong - it was Germany Schaefer (https://www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Germany_Schaefer).
With runners at first and third, Schaefer stole second, hoping to draw a throw for a double steal, but the catcher held the ball. On the next pitch, Schaefer then took off back for first, again hoping to draw a throw. The umpire ruled that it was legal because there was no rule against it, so the rules were changed in the offseason to explicitly ban running the bases in reverse order.

You don't seem to be taking your last pick very seriously tempo.
I have two guys left to pick but have no idea what's what. Darky shit the bed near the end here. Up until that it was the smoothest draft ever.
Will update. Been busy here at work today. Also, not that hard to keep track of the very few left you lazy bastards.
Both threads are updated. Sorry about today, but due to very little sleep the past few days because of continuous 24-hour shifts and getting up at 7am everyday with 3-4 hours sleep, and then had an eventful day at work, when I had time to get to my computer at work, I opted to rest since I needed that rest to regroup and have some kind of clarity rather than brain fog. I am a night person and usually get to bed around 4am and get up at noon, so I've had a jetlag type of effect.
You guys should have had your own draft spreadsheet to keep track of everything. And any more bitching about Lord Vader's league, then Fighton or Tempo can run the league so you guys can watch a full year go by to see how it all plays out :D
I'll take alou . And burleson.
Darky, I draft 3B Brown, not fighton.
And that concludes the draft, phew!
I inserted a pick for GDavis, Tempo, and then I took the big bad Radar!
I'll have to set some things up this weekend to prepare for the epic opening day. I will fix my youtube account so I can try and go live for the games.
