Title: Fantasy League "Straight Pitch" Pitching
Post by: Stock on 02/02/05, 11:15:45 AM
My vote is for Straight pitch (press "A" only); no fast/slowballs  Don't really have a preference if you want to move your pitcher around on the mound or not, but voted for "middle of mound".

Personally I think this is best for Network Play as there are less foul balls.  (I intend to play this as a drinking game, so I want more home runs anyway ;D)

I voted middle of the mound with fastballs and changeups only just because that's how we always play but I'm open to anything.  Not a big fan of slowballs though.

Me neither.

I voted anywhere on mound, any straight pitch, but mind either way.   Whatever you guys want to do is okay with me.

voted anywhere, any straight pitch.

I figure if you screw around and foul off 2 pitches, your punishment should be the ol' knuckler. . . .to swing or not to swing. . . .

Anywhere...
Any straight pitch...

I think you should suck it up on the knucklers.  If I want to throw all knuckles, can't you figure out that it's coming and keep the bat on your shoulder?  You do that a few times and I'll probably think twice about tiring my pitcher so easily.

The Knucklers have it?  My only concern was with the lag.  I played Lips online last week, and I literally had to push the "A" button before the ball left the pitcher's hand.  Let's hope there will be less of a lag.  I think there might have been something wrong with the server too.

The rules will be any Straight pitch.  (ie no pushing left our right while pitching.)

I'm flexible.  No knucklers would be fine.

I don't think there is a problem throwing "no knucklers" if both teams agree to it before hand.

However, if there is a difference in opinion, the Knuckers have it.

This should be a friendly league.  No money, no blood!  (yet, at least ;) )

There should be a post on this page (or the other thread) that is continually updated with the latest version of the rosters...sheesh--you're no fightonusc, are you?

A little late for the topic, but I personally don't mind what we do.  I really don't think you should be able to throw 2-strike knucklers, to me that diminishes the purpose of straight pitch by adding strikeouts.  My 2 cents...

isn't that what you get, though, if you are lame enough to go to 2 strikes in straight pitch?  remember, this isn't the drinking rules...

As Stock said, these kind of details can be agreed upon between players before each individual game.

Good point, we typically take pitches and foul off alot.  Can you pull off an IBB with 4 slowballs?

Just to confirm....

1. Any straight pitch is legal (including knuckeballs), as long as you do not press left/right.
2. You can move around on the mound.
3. You can use two starting pitchers in a game

Correct?

4. The rules don't apply to JoeDirt (I really not sure if this needed to be stated or not)
