Another RBI Fantasy League?

So I was reading this thread and, seeing as how the idea never panned out exactly as proposed, I've considered taking on the challenge of running a full-fledged RBI fantasy league, where instead of drafting teams to play against each other (like Stock's and USC's leagues), we draft teams to accumulate stats, like regular fantasy baseball. For those that may be interested, there are several major things that need to be worked out:

1) Will the league be run H2H or roto?

I prefer H2H for a couple reasons, namely: a, we can have playoffs and a league championship matchup; and b, unlike roto (where league finishing order is almost set by the 2/3 point) a team in the bottom of a H2H league can get hot and make up ground quickly, which keeps managers interested in the league and promotes interest/excitement.

If interest is good, I see no reason why we can't do a second league with the other format.

2) What stats do we use? A typical 5x5 league won't work that well in RBI because of SB's and saves. Because the CPU only tries to steal a base with the top 5 or 6 guys in speed in the game, several teams would wind up with no possibility of SB's.

Saves could be a problem, because there aren't that many in RBI. They can be used, however.

If we want to keep five batter and pitcher stats, I propose replacing SB and considering replacing SV. For hitters, maybe SLG, OPS, Hits, total bases? For pitchers, I would think Losses would be the most logical option. Of course, I am open to ideas.

3 and 4) How many teams should we use, and how many forum members should play?

I'm all for using the AS teams (just to expand the pool of players, and thus allow more people to participate) which would allow as many as 10 people to play. (There just aren't enough RBI players to go above 10)

And finally, 5) How many players should we draft and in what positions?

Here's what I was thinking: 3 IF, 2 OF, 1 C, 1 UTIL, 1 SP, 1 RP, 1 P, 2 Bench (this uses up all 12 regular players on an RBI team). Maybe throw out the bench and add a second UTIL and P to use everyone. Or use no bench (but 1 UTIL and P) and have a small free agent pool. Of course, if we draft every RBI starter for our league, people are unfortunantly going to end up with players like Santana.

Position eligibility would use USC's list, unless there are any objections to this.

If we draft 12 players for each team, the number of RBI teams we draft from equal the number of players in the league. So 10 teams used = 10 players.

Other smaller details (daily/weekly lineup changes, draft rules, etc.) can be worked out at a later date.

Anyone interested? If you are, try to leave opinions on some of the stuff I've written here (specifically, whether or not to use SB and SV, H2H vs. roto, and drafted players/positions).

Head to head would be a pain in the ass to run, but that just means I wouldn't be willing to run it that way if you are good luck.

The Raiders are a successful organization

I should probably also mention that I'm not planning to start the draft or anything for another week and a half or so. Plenty of time to join and work out details.

i'm always good for a team.
how many teams were you planning (sorry if you already mentioned it, it's late and you wrote a lot)?

Congrats Nomaaa.  Dee-Nee's new Sandwich King.

Was planning to use ten (which would pretty much mandate using AS teams).

If we just use the standard 8, then it'd probably be 8 players.
