Why would you want to let your opponent save 3 pitches on his stamina?
If he wants to put you on intentionally, then make him walk you.

I think its completely ethical to swing at attempted bean balls.  Fuck them!  Of course my friends and I play with an IF rule as well.

I dont mind the If rule...with a ground ball at least you have a chance to beat it out...no chance in hell to beat out an IF with a runner trying to reach 2nd or 3rd.

I personally observe the infield fly rule, but I agree that it is a problem in tournament situations where people are playing for money, so I have no problem with JoeDirt's stance.

Shooty

Maybe people should just stop hitting so many infield flies.

Or, you could bunt the runners over.
I just don't agree with giving someone a benefit with hitting an in field pop up.  This is probably the worse thing you can do as a hitter, so I think you should get penalized to the max for doing so.

Ha.

I bet if you try to intentionally walk JoeDirt he makes sure it gets to a full count.

Situational.  But yeah, if the situation calls for it, I would.  Sometimes if you put 2 strikes on yourself, your opponent will be tempted to face the guy.

Also, Riley and I DO have our own set of rules...just not the IFR.  For example, if Riley says, "plunk 'em," then I crowd the plate and let him hit the batter.  So there.
