FIP or ERA?

I've been rating ROMs for years, and I think the results are usually pretty darn good.  I use a combo of ERA and K/9 and some other voodoo to get the base curve values for the pitchers.  I'm thinking of using FIP instead of ERA because it more accurately reflects the pitcher instead of other factors...

What do you guys think of this stat and its relevance?  I know some people don't like ERA, but it does reflect mostly the ability of the team to not allow runs when the given pitcher is on the mound.  FIP isolates that even more...

What are your thoughts?

I'm a big believer in FIP (or xFIP, depending on how nerdy you want to get), so I think that sounds like a swell idea.  The fact that they put it on the same scale as ERA would make it pretty friendly to your existing formulas, too.

Agreed...I'm gonna mess around with that...
