To consolidate threads, all the game recaps are going to be posted in one thread. Videos of all of the games can be found on the Official Fantasy RBI League Web site at
http://fantasyrbi.rbicentral.com/Media/Media.html. Standings, stats, etc. are all going to be there as well. But, I still want to have a place here on Dee-Nee to post recaps on talk about the games.

So, we start the week with a battle between two teams seemingly headed in opposite directions - the Poopydicks and the OC...

Game Summary:

It was all Kirby Puckett all the time, as the pudgy slugger went 5 for 5 with two home uns and drove in five to lead The OC to a 17-7, seven-run thrashing of The Poopydicks in a Fantasy RBI Baseball League game played at Tengen Stadium.

New OC (3-2) addition Mike Schmidt paid early dividends, smacking a two-run home run in his first at-bat with the team to give them a 4-1 lead. George Bell added a three-run home run in the second inning to push the lead to 7-3.

"It's just to be away from that owner," said Schmidt, referring to Da ShitPaws owner and GM ShitPaw (aka Murdoch, dvldog or Big Baby Jesus II). "That guy knows his baseball, but he's a little cuckoo in the hoo hoo, if you know what I mean."

John Tudor appeared tired from his lengthy All-Star game appearance, giving up 10 runs in four innings for the Poopydicks (3-4).

Unfortunately, no video of tonight's game - something about the file being corrupted. I didn't even know that rdub could get to files. At least there wasn't much to see, other than Clemens nutting up and my hitting continuing to go into the crapper.  Anyway...

Game Summary:

Roger Clemens knows that if the Fighting Tony Danzas have a chance to make the Fantasy RBI Baseball League playoffs, he'll likely have to carry the team on his shoulders. And that's exactly what he did Tuesday night, as he gave up five earned runs to go the distance in a 16-6, eight-inning victory over the punchless Creamy Pirates in a game played at Tengen Stadium.

Clemens' performance creates a quagmire at the middle of the standings as the league reaches its halfway mark. With two games yet to be played this week, both teams are among four tied for third place with 3-4 records. The top four teams in the league will reach the playoffs.

The Fighting Tony Danzas jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning and never trailed. Tim Raines paced the hitting attack by going 4 for 6, including a home run, with four RBI and three runs. The Creamy Pirates managed just six extra base hits against Clemens. New addition Paul Molitor had two doubles in three at-bats, while Cal Ripken added a three-run home run.

By Raines, Ripken, and Santiago, no less.  Raines is the only one I would think would normally go yard.  I'm just happy to see Trammell get more than 1 hit in a god damn game, and with the addition of Rob "The Truth" Wilfong we will be unstoppable.

And by unstoppable, I mean easily beaten.
I ain't no god damn son of a bitch
You better think about it baby

Especially if you put yourselves in situations where you don't have to bring in a pinch-hitter....

Six runs? We only got six god damned runs?

Oh hell, no one's listening anyway...

A leading contender for game of the year. Back and forth, and it came down to the last at-bat. A classic battle between the pesky underdogs with nothing to lose and the league leaders trying to avoid an embarrassing loss.

Game Summary:

The Nimrods have made a habit of winning close games, but even their manager Ultimate7 couldn't imagine the twists and turns of their game against BeefMaster on Wednesday. BeefMaster rallied from an 8-0 first inning deficit to take the game to extra innings, only to lose to a Will Clark home run in the 11th to fall 28-27 in what was probably the most entertaining game of the Fantasy RBI Baseball League season thus far.

"This is giving me a freaking heart attack," said Ultimate7 after the game, taking a long drag from his 15th cigarette of the evening. "I can't...I can't take this shit anymore."

Clark had a career day for The Nimrods (6-1). He was 7 for 8, with two home run, two doubles and two triples, while driving in six and scoring five. Andre Dawson also had two home runs for The Nimrods, who won their fifth consecutive game.

BeefMaster (2-5) scored three times in the bottom of the ninth to force extra innings, capped by Ozzie Smith's pinch-hit RBI single to tie the score. Reggie Jackson broke out of a season-long power slump by going 5 for 7 with two home runs and seven RBI. Dave Henderson added two home runs and six RBI, while Glenn Davis was 6 for 8.

I've already watched the first 2 segments of this game, so I'll read this later but wanted to add a few comments before I forget.

Baines got a pinch hit walk off Fernando, I think this was the seasons first BB.

My 1B bopped a line drive and then ran by the ball so that the RF had to come into the infield to pick up the ball (hilarious)

Garner got robbed of a HR that was called foul by a blind umpire.

Can't wait to watch the 2nd half of the game, nice work USC.

- Actually, I think that Ojeda walked three or four guys in the Stiffs first game. I know he has four walks for the season...

- But isn't the pinch-hit walk the most anti-climactic thing?

- I cant only reason that Clark has stunned and momentarily concussed by the force of the shot, and that's why Dawson had to come in from RF to make the play.

- I remember the Garner fair/foul glitch HR. It was as bad as that gets.

- The second half of the game is better than the first...

Game Summary:

The Stiffs slipped further behind the league-leading Nimrods, while Da ShitPaws became serious playoff contenders with a thrilling 14-13 victory over The Stiffs in a Fantasy RBI League game played Friday at Tengen Stadium. Mark McGwire was 5 for 5 with three home runs and four RBI for Da ShitPaws (3-4), who have won two straight games.

Asked after the game if he was surprised by the team's recent play, McGwire stamped his hoof twice for no. This is the same manner in which he responded to the grand jury questioning of him in the recent DeeNeeCo. Steroids scandal that has rocked the RBI Baseball community.

The Stiffs (5-2) had a chance to win in the ninth inning, thanks to pinch hitter Dickie Thon's two-out, three run home run.  But without another pitcher in the bullpen, they were forced to bat Tom Henke, who popped out to end the game.

The result creates a logjam in the middle of the standings. Six teams are within a game of third place. The top four teams advance to the playoffs.
