This might be weird...let me try and explain...

We are limited to 10 teams on the current rom.  Say you wanted to have more teams...you'd have to create a second rom.

The save state contains the index for each of the two teams (0-9).  If the two teams for the game were team 1 and team 2,  the state would contain 0 and 1

I'm thinking a nice way to get around this would be to have a patch that you could set the "rom number" in code somewhere and then the resulting indexes that get written to the save state are calculated based off of that, so:

Rom 0: Teams 1 & 2 would be index 0 & 1, respectively
Rom 1: Teams 1 & 2 would be 10 & 11, respectively
Rom 2: Teams 1 & 2 would be 20 & 21, respectively
...

Methinks this would be a super easy patch...either to simply write the rom number to the save state and then I could perform the calculation on the indexes myself when reading in the save state on our website, or the indexes could be calculated and written to the save state automatically. Either way is fine with me.

Nightwulf, seems like something you could do in your sleep...

If you could add more teams to the ROM, you would greatly improve the "homemade cart" industry

Some guys in the tecmo community added the 4 expansion teams I the new version to make 32 teams. While it'd be cool for RBI, this thread is talking more about a simple workaround for the limitation.

I'm not sure this approach would work for a homemade cart - if I'm reading this correctly, the teams would exist on three separate ROMs, and I don't think they'd all fit on a cart.

Of course, the overstuffed ROM is 256k (I think), while the original is 96k, so if you could hack in the extra teams to the overstuffed version, that might work for a 1-ROM solution.

Someone has done the same thing in RBI 3 (all 30 current MLB teams instead of the original 26), although RBI 3 had some extra team data already in the ROM (multiple Tengen teams, historical playoff teams), so I don't know that as much ROM hackery was needed.

Yeah I'm not looking to add the teams to one cart, just to basically write the rom number to the save state.

Has anyone created an editor yet for TSB that doesn't take a tenured computer programmer to figure it out (ie... like Nightwulf's RBI editor)?

I would kill to be able to make my own homemade TSB cart/ROM.

I said it once and I'll say it again - stock is smart

tecmoturd, check out this RBI rom, it has 15 teams on it.  achildprodigy made it.  hope this helps:

Actually just the rom number would be the most flexible, it'd allow for 255 ROMS  if needed.

I wrote one myself for generating yearly edits but it's not terribly flexible for another user. BAD_AL made an awesome one (which is what I'm basing my RBI one off of) over at www.knobbe.org/mx. Search for tsbtool supreme. Edits jerseys, players, attributes, and sim values. Only thing it doesn't do arwteam names, which is weird. If you can't find it, finds me on aim and I'll hook you up.

Yes sir!

Try out the TSB 2000 manager. Here is a link also to Tecmo Builders if you have any questions. Also a section with step by step if needed. I figured it out myself and believe me I have 0 programming exprience.
