Cool, Beefmaster should be around shortlyeventually.

:-\

Where's the Beef? The dude sure is sitting on his next two pics.

Will Clark=too streaky

but when he's on, he fuckin rakes.

I'm still in good shape, got my players still danglin around. The Thrill was not at the top our scouting reports...he played for the Empire last year...dude thought he was all that. Like he had over 900 for power. He's not an Empire player and does not fit in our program.

anyone ever notice that if you drop a deuce on someones windshield in sub-freezing temperatures, its pretty damn hard to get off once it freezes.

The Raiders are a successful organization

ryno

i'm out pretty much all day tomorrow --- 11:00 til 7:00 CST.   If we're going to draft tomorrow, I can send in picks.

I'm in school all week so I'll be available by text. . . .. otherwise, I'm going to have to draft in the evenings.

If everyone would get online at the same time, this would take very little time.

I picked Raines too early

Probably.  The problem is that he may have been gone had you waited.

proxy picks

I'll send Darky the guy who's #1 on my draft board right now, but it's doubtful that he'll drop to me.

Almost as doubtful as the draft being up to my pick by the time I get back tonight...

i know i'm the retarded backwoods yokel, but wouldn't it be a good idea to send darky a list ?

If I'm 3 picks out, I send darky 4 names (in order of how I'd want them).  That way, I pretty much get who I want.

Proxies typically suck, but are a necessary evil of these kind of drafts.

TβG

ryno, you have a pretty good idea, but there are some rounds where things can go haywire, like the tim raines pick is always touchy.  also once pitchers start going, a lot of people have different philosophies on that.  in my opinion, rounds 1-6 are very crucial.  pretty much you can proxy round 1 and MAYBE 2, but after that things get dicey as far as Raines/other leadoff men, and pitchers/catchers.

then be prepared to be pissed off at me next week. . .  .. classes from 7:30 til 7:00 and no internet access til the evening.

TβG

you could possibly team up with someone else to work the draft with you.

i'm not saying you can't or shouldn't proxy.  there are some positions such as beef right here with #20,21 where he could easily proxy those.  pretty much any time you start a round, it's a very strong position to start a run on whatever you feel is valuable.

Darky

Beef was not in a good position to proxy when he was last logged on...

If anyone is within 1-2 moves, then proxies make sense, where ever you are in the draft.

I'll get Darky some player rankings and draft strategies

not necessarily...  yes or no

you took raines 15th overall.  in the past he's gone 16th and 13th.  historically, you're right in the sweet spot.  i guess a lot of it depends how you pick the next few rounds and who you surround him with.  we've all seen what raines can do in the fantasy leagues and he is quite a spark in the leadoff role.  at 146 speed he'll steal a couple bags on the rare occasion he hits  asingle or walks and he's a lefty for whatever that's worth.

Raines:
Raw Power - 42nd overall
Contact - in the top 3rd  (top 33%, almost everyone is under 30, he has 11)
Speed - 2nd overall

statistically he's not ranked very high (I have him barely cracking the top 30), but there always seems to be a high demand for such a guy with as close to 5 tools as you're gonna get in RBI.  other simillar players don't quite fit the same way as naturally as Raines does in the leadoff spot.  Well-balanced players such as Baylor, Straw/Davis, Gibson all have too much power to waste them at the top of the order when you might want those guys to drive in runs.  Raines has just enough power to keep him from being a run producer (2,3,4), and his amazing speed perfectly places him as a leadoff man.

The only other guy close is Burks and he's sort of an anamoly as well, but he can only be used as a leadoff man with sufficient power to back him up.  One other guy close to Raines in the leadoff position hasn't been picked yet, but his speed isn't close.  Everybody else in my leadoff man rankings are a poor man's version of Raines.  Simply, there's no player like him in RBI.
