Unholy Legions pull away late

SIOUX FALLS (AP) - The Unholy Legions went on a 13-3 run between the 6th to 8th inning and held off a last gasp by the Chocolate Rain to win a crucial DoveRBI ballgame 17-14.

Caveman Robnsn now has four straight relief appearances without giving up a run.

The Hawk A.Dawson lasered 4 hits and drove in 4 runs while GDavis went 5-6, hit 4 2B's and drove in 3 runners to lead the Unholy Legions who remain in second place.

The salt and peppered hair Sutton only allowed 3 runs in his 3 innings of relief work to limit the Chocolate Rain.

CLemon hit 2 HR's to climb atop the leader-board in HR's with 20.

The Chocolate Rain will play the Fighting Artichokes in a critical DoveRBI game in week 17. The winner of that game will assume third place and also determine the winner of the head-to-head 3 game series as they are tied up 1-1.

Records - Unholy Legions of Doom (9-7, 6-4), Chocolate Rain (7-9, 4-6)

Re-Peat

Well, looks like my season is effectively over.

Some reflections:

I felt like I had a lot of good pieces on the team, but they never seemed to get in sync and produce.  Hrbek was a major bust, and Maldonado will most likely not receive a contract extension for next season.  Wade Boggs played well as a role player, and provided great value considering his draft spot.  Bell and Leonard may get BJs from the GM.  Without them, this team would have been PBR and absolute turd pie.

The bullpen did decent enough but the starting pitching was a joke.  This was my first foray into fantasy RBI (and the first time I've EVER used watch mode) and I didn't know how pitcher skills would translate.  Choosing my pitchers was a crapshoot, and one that I lost.  I don't know that I'd call Clemens a bust...  he did ok, but I had high hopes for the above average endurance fireballer.  I would spit in Doyle Alexander's face if I saw him on the street.  What a joke.  Witt wasn't much to write home about but I have no regrets about bringing him on.

The Alliance got 10 runned way too many times, and in a few games the offense never even had a chance to get going.  Other than batting average, I feel like the stats don't reflect a lot of the Rebel batters' plate skills because they had so few plate appearances.

I feel like I've learned a lot, and I'm already excited for the next season.

anyone ever notice that if you drop a deuce on someones windshield in sub-freezing temperatures, its pretty damn hard to get off once it freezes.

Cox and Orsoco blank the Alliance

IMPERIAL CENTER (AP) - D.Cox and J.Orosco dominated the Rebel Alliance in relief as they pitched lights out to lead the Empire to a 13-7 victory at Imperial Center Stadium.

Cox and Orosco combined for 0 ER's on 4 hits in 5 innings of work.

With the score tied up at 7 in the 6th inning, K.Gibson drilled a Witt pitch over the right field gap for a 2 run shot that put the first place Empire ahead for good 9-7.

D.Murphy went 4-4 with 4 RBI's and hit for the cycle and Gibson went 3-5 with a 3B, HR, and single and drove in 4 runners to lead the Empire assault. Ray Knight went a perfect 5-5 at the plate.

Cox now lowers his ERA to a league best 10.43.

J.Bell hit a grand-slam and went 4-5 with 5 RBI's as he was the only bright spot for the Alliance offense. The chances of reaching the playoffs for the last place Alliance are not favorable with 6 games to go and two games back of the Fighting Artichokes.

The two teams will square off again on Sunday in week17. The Empire will be going for a three-game series sweep.

Cutlers outslug OC in thriller

CHICAGO (AP) - The Fighting Cutlers demonstrated their fighting spirit today at a gusty Soldier Field.

The Cutlers overcame deficits of 7-0, 16-9, and 17-11 as they outslugged the OC and won the critical Gantry Division contest 22-19.

The difference proved to be the bottom of the 8th inning. S.Grelts came in to protect a one run lead for the OC. After getting the first out, Speir doubled then JoMorris came off the bench to pinch hit for T.Herr. Morris hit a long arc'd 2 run HR to give the Cutlers a 18-17 lead. After a Cruz pinch hit fly out, the unthinkable occurred for TBG's OC. Raines, Herndz, Baylor, Nokes, and DCincs all hit consecutive home runs and left the OC stunned at 22-17.
Grelts gave up 5 HR's and six runs in his inning of work and picked up the loss.

Brngr came in the ninth to hold the OC and he escaped by only giving up 2 runs and got Schfld to K to end the game.

Leading the Cutler offense, Nokes drove in 6 and drilled 3 HR's, Herndz hit a pair of shots and went 5-6 as he drove in 5, and Raines swiped two bags to increase his league lead to
9 SB's and went 5-6 to stay atop the leader board in AVG at .682.

The Cutlers move into a three way tie for second place with the BadAsses and OC, but are technically in 4th place due to head-to-head match-ups and divisional records. The OC, by technicality, are in third place with 6 games to go.

Fighting Artichokes use power and good pitching to win second straight

FORT DODGE (AP)- Dan Gladden had 5 hits, SLake and DaEvans hit a pair of HR's and MScott gave up no runs in the first four innings of the game as they greatly contributed to an almost easy like victory over the Blue Ribbons 19-12.

S.Lake, who is the lowest drafted starter in the FRBI League, surprisingly hit two HR's in the game and now has 3 for the year. DGladdn, who went into the game only hitting .396, went 5-6 today to set the table for the HR crew of DaEvans, Brnsky, and Lindmn who combined for 4 HR's and 8 RBI's today. Nothing over dramatic but very productive.

The Artichokes built a 12-5 lead going into the top of the 7th inning. The Pabst Blue Ribbons did manage to get to MScott and after scoring 5 runs in the top of the 7th inning off Gooden, the score was suddenly 12-10 and they made it a ball game.

However, the Artichokes quickly responded by quickly adding 5 runs in the bottom half of the 7th inning. Lake singled then Bergmn came in for a pinch hit HR followed by a CDavis single which was followed by back to back HR's from Gladdn and DaEvans.

The Artichokes are now 4-1 in their last 5 games and visit the Chocolate Rain in week 17 on Sunday evening in a crucial game for third place.

Records - Fighting Artichokes (8-8, 3-7), Pabst Blue Ribbons (4-12, 3-7)

Sally Cunts get great pitching and key hits for victory over BadAsses

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - After giving up 5 runs in the first inning, Sbhrgn, Vlnzla, and DSmith took control of the game as they limited the BadAsses to only 4 runs for the next eight innings which proved to be the main difference. El Toro changed speeds very well as he lowered his ERA to 11.49 and good for first in the Gantry Division and third overall in the FRBI League.

EDavis, Strwby, and Mitchl all drove in 3 runners apiece and homered in the game. EDavis and Strwby each had a pair of shots which proved to be too much for the Awesome BadAsses in this low scoring Gantry League game.

The Sally Cunts increased their first place lead to 3 games with 6 to go. The Awesome BadAsses are tied for second place with the Cutlers and OC, but hold the tiebreaker over both teams if the season were to end today.

Records - Sally Cunts (11-5, 6-3), Awesome BadAsses (8-8, 6-3)
