time for my "grumpy old man complaining about this shitty town" post.  i started on this as notes just for myself, then decided to post it.  so if anything is unclear, i will be glad to expound further.  there's probably also a bunch more things on here that i haven't included yet

things that suck about taxco

there is almost no turkey or chicken, it's almost all pork and beef
produce is covered in flies
instead of juice, they have pop that tastes like juice (manzana lift)
no light beer
the cheese in the restaurants in putrid - literally smells rotten.  and they put it on EVERYTHING
sour cream is watery and they put that on EVERYTHING as well
no whiskey
ketchup is watery
ice is rare
if you want something to eat past 9:00, the only option you have is street vendors, who are likely to give you a side of the runs with your food (which generally is awful)

everyone blasts shitty music in their cars
car horns are often replaced with police sirens/car alarm noises for some reason
the pop music is actually worse than american pop music
the american music that they play here is the worst possible american music out there
no one makes any attempt to prevent their kids from making noise constantly
very difficult to find internet that doesn't crap out all the time (even if you are paying for it)

the bars are all sausage fests
there is literally nothing to do besides drink (no parks, no movie theater, no NOTHING.  you name it, Taxco does not have it)
there are no open spaces...everything is paved and there is not even any space between buildings
there are no sidewalks, yet almost non-stop traffic
people walk incredibly slowly and stop to chat with each other in the street, even though there is no room for anyone to move past them without getting run over

every other place i have been to in mexico is better, without question

gantry asked what beers they have here.  so far i have yet to see corona in a liquor store, although i have only bought beer from the mexican equivalent of 7-11 (it's called OXXO)

i was in a bar tonight and i drank coronas and victorias.  both of them cost 10-15 pesos (depending on the bar)...which means they cost between about 75 cents and 1.25.

in the OXXO, you can buy six packs of Sol, Tecate, and a few other mexican beers for roughly 4.50 a six-pack.  i also bought a canned margarita for 13 pesos (a little less than a dollar) and it was surprisingly good.

i have no good idea how old the average girl walking on the street is.  she could be anywhere between 13 and 20, but no, i haven't hit on any of them...you fucks.

i was giving one of the girls in my group a piggyback ride back after the bars tonight, she revealed to me a "big secret".  the secret was that apparently some of the other girls on the trip voted her the girl most likely to make out with me first.  since she is not my top choice, i laughed about it but did not make a move. 

skanks, beer, and underage mexican girls aside, this town kicks ass.  it is built on the side of a mountain and the views are amazing.  walking the streets can be very tough because they are extremely hilly and every street in town is cobblestone.  some streets are very steep.  i am leaving out a lot but i am very fuxored up.

just re-read this.  it is pretty awesome...for about three days.  then it gets progressively worse.

fair...but look at my other complaints about food and drink.  the commonly available meat is the less healthy kinds, the fruits and vegetables look awful in the market and are rarely served in restaurants, they put (disgusting and putrid) cheese and sour cream on everything.  no light beer on it's own would not be an issue, but i don't know how everyone in this town isn't 300 lbs.  i do notice a high (even higher?) percentage of overweight people, but it is more rare here to see someone who is extremely obese.  the average person is pretty husky, though.
