Turd gets swept vs. Attezz...bracket is updated, and screenshots are uploaded to the Turd vs. Attezz post in this thread.  Anxious to see some of you other cats play your games...

Suckerpunch

Played a couple of games this morning through hamachi with zero lag.  Will be on tonight after 8:30 MT to play.

Turd

vs. who? Good to know hamachi is back to normal speed. It's the most used one so I didn't want to switch if we could avoid it. I'll not be avaialable tonight or tomorrow, but thurs I can.

Suckerpunch

Played vs a friend here in town where I live.  I'm sure he would like to play in the next tourney.  We played a 5 game series and never saw any lag.  Hopefully this means hamachi is back.  I will look for you online Thursday night.

Turd

Could always get your games in with Duane, clambutt, or attezz in the meantime

Attezz

ill do my best to be around tonight, if i am ill hang in chat, ill definitely be around thursday, has re-peat chimed in yet?

Turd

Oh yeah, forgot about him too...he doesn't read the RBI threads much, we need to tell himi there's a tourney going on.  This thing cannot die.

Attezz

Series with Suckerpunch.

Game one was pretty close, game two everything seemed to work for me, game three I got absolutely embarrassed, pretty happy we're only playing three game series as I lost all momentum and am confident I would have lost the next 9 games if given the chance.

Turd

I'm so happy you guys took some initiative and played. That's the one thing that's killed these in the past, lack of participation and lack of games played not involving the netplay helpers.

Turd

Tourney bracket updated.  Looks like you used hamachi, glad that's back in play.

Turd: Dt
Duane: Bo

Lost first game due to fielding mishaps. Fell apart in the second due to lots of mistakes.  Hurst pitching was my one chance to get a win, and I still couldn't pull it off. Oh well...fun games, another pristine connection...third game coming another time

No screenshots cause I screwed the first one up, and the second one we lost a connection due to duane's internet, so we replayed it, and the score isn't right.  It will be on the bracket though...which I'll update in a sec...still looking for my first win!

Turd wins third game 3-2 to avoid the sweep...

Duane

Two great games really.  Pitching was the story in the first one.  Alexander and Clemens both had great starts with Clemens turning in an absolute gem.  It's been a long time since I've seen that many ground balls hit in one game.  Schiraldi did his best to blow it in the ninth by allowing the tying run to reach the plate, but pitched his way out of trouble to preserve the shutout.

And in Game 2, Ellis Burks started things off right with a leadoff, opposite-field jack.  Jim Rice followed it up with one of his own and I was out to an early 4-1 lead in the second inning when my internet decided to reset or something.  We simply spotted me three runs and started the game over.  I was trailing 3-1 going into the ninth (but really leading 4-3 I guess you could say).

Top of the order up - Burks doubles to right-center.  Apparently he loves going the other way.  And then, BOOM - Buckner ties it up with a high homer just over the right-field wall.  Armas and Rice do nothing and there's two outs.  Baylor bounces one over the third baseman for a long single and Dwight Evans answers with another single to put a Baylor in scoring position.  And Rich Gedman immediately finds a Hernandez fastball to his liking and doubles to left-center.  And again, Schiraldi enters to preserve the win.

Jack Morris was actually waaaaaay tougher to hit than Alexander too.  I could definitely go without pitching to Trammel again - he and Gibson both ate Hurst's "heat" for lunch in Game 2.

With the minor success of this tourney and getting some people online, my plan is to eventually run a league based on the 2010 ROM.  I want to run one more tournament though to get a few more people who wanted in to get involved (TBT), and also to prove that people will actually play their games.  If that gets proved, we can do a casual league...

My thoughts are:
People pick their team
The draft pool will come from only players from those teams (e.g., if the Rockies aren't chosen as a team, none of their players will be available to be drafted)
Draft teams
Allow for lineup changes if needed

Again, I'll only do this if I can prove people have the ambition to play their league games.  To be honest, this tournament is much like a mini league anyways, this would just take it to the next level.

Suckerpunch

I'm in for the league

For this tourney we are not hooking up randomly very well in the chat room.  Maybe we should email each other individually to set times to play.

Turd

In the tecmo world, everyone uses AIM, so  you just add your buddies to the list and find them when they come online, or you schedule a time via PM/Email/Forum post and meetup at that time.  It's not an exact science and sometimes doesn't work (due to people just not being on when they say they will) but it usually gets the job done.

It's all about members being proactive enough to get their games setup...

Attezz

So at this point should be just go ahead and disqualify Re-peat for making zero effort whatsoever?

Re-Peat

I'll be around and ready to play some games tonight...

anyone ever notice that if you drop a deuce on someones windshield in sub-freezing temperatures, its pretty damn hard to get off once it freezes.
