Title: FRBI VI Week 1
Post by: Darky on 03/02/10, 09:15:24 PM
The official ROM for week 1 and odd numbered weeks is attached (FRBI VI I ). This ROM contains all the #1 SP's. Do not use this ROM for week 2 and for all even numbered games. The week 2 ROM has all the #2 SP's. That will be released when the week 2 thread is created.

You'll be able to use the odd numbered ROM until somebody makes a change with their lineup. When that happens, a new ROM for odd numbered weeks will be created and attached with the lineup changes---so you'll need to download that one when that comes up. The same goes for the other even numbered ROM.

Please take note here, if you try to use a game zip file for week 2 on the FRBI VI I ROM (odd numbered ROM/#1 SP's), the result won't be the same. The same applies, for example, if you try and  use an odd numbered week/game zip file on an even numbered ROM (FRBI VI II). Some of you found this out last season.

FRBI VI I = the odd numbered ROM with all the #1 SP's. All odd numbered weeks/game zip files will only function correctly on this ROM.

FRBI VI II = the even numbered ROM with all the #2 SP's. All even numbered weeks/game zip files will only function correctly on this ROM.

Moving on, here is the schedule and the slot of games that will kick off at 2:30 PM Dee Nee time and 9:34 PM my time according to my computer clock (my computer is 4 minutes faster). All the game zip files will be posted and attached after the slot of games are done. The YouTube games will come later since it takes a while to upload.

Can you post the ROM text file for quick review?

Click on "player stats" in the export box to see a text file listing all of the players and their ratings.

Unless this works (I've tried it before and the link comes up blank for some reason).

Download the VirtuaNES emulator here. (http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/nes/virtuanes.html)

In order to watch the game, do the following:

1. Open VirtuaNES
2. Go to File<Open to open that week's ROM
3. Go to Edit<Movie<Replay and load the game video file for that game

Also, you can hit the tab key to play the game at a faster speed. You can adjust the settings of how fast the game is played if you click on options---then click on Emulator---then you can adjust the throttle.

Or you can post Spoiler Warning and post if you wish.

The two youtube games are about complete. I'm gonna start the boxscores shortly. Recaps may come late tonight dee nee time or early tomorrow morning dee nee time.

Week 2 will take place more than likely on Friday.

I thought three separate times that I'd certainly lost, and one time that I'd certainly won.

I had the most powerful 1-3 batters in FRBI history, and I'm lucky if they reached base a third of the time - they were largely worthless other than that 11th inning.

Will Clark's homer will definitely make the Fighting Urlacher's season highlight video.

SAN LUIS OBISPO - The OC Legions of Doom announced today the firing and immolation of third base coach Hugh G. Rection, following a 12-inning loss to the Fighting Urlachers in which two Legions players were thrown out attempting to advance to third base.  Rection was summoned to the owner's box just minutes after the game ended, and his smoldering corpse was on display in the locker room by the time the press corps entered.

"We just can't stand for that type of performance," said OC Legions co-chairman BeefMaster.  "I mean, I know we don't have the fastest team in the league, but we expect that our third base coach be aware of that fact, too."  Rection could not be reached for comment, but sources close to the front office quoted him as saying, "Hey, what the hell are you doing?  AAARGH!  IT BURNS!"

When asked about the unorthodox step of burning Rection alive, BeefMaster seemed surprised by the question, stating that such a provision is standard in all OC Legions contracts.

It is believed that the OC Legions will search for a replacement from within the franchise - hitting coach I. P. Freeley and bench coach Oliver Clozoff have been mentioned as candidates, and there remains the possibility that manager Seymour Butz will simply fill the position himself.  Freeley is considered to be the longest shot, as the amputation of his left arm following the team's third strikeout could interfere with his ability to direct runners.

hahaha---awesome breaking news there! Love it!

I just finished scoring that epic game. It is the longest played game in FRBI history---12 innings.

I registered this with my new stats that I'll be showing everybody this year---thrown out/tagged out (TO/TA) and DP's. Here is the breakdown:

- J.Rice was tagged out by the 3rd baseman when he turned to back to second base after he got in a rundown after a ground ball.

- Youngblood hit a single, advanced to second on a throwing error, and was thrown out at third base by the catcher.

- Downing was tagged out at third base while trying to advance to third base from first base---LF threw him out at third.

- JRice hit into two double plays.

- DaEvans hit into a double play and was thrown out at home plate by the RF on a sac fly ball...and it was pretty deep too hahaha.

Viola sparks two out seven run rally, picks up the win to spoil the Poopydicks home opener

Phoenix (AP) - Frank Viola hit a two run RBI double in the top of the sixth inning with two outs to tie up the non league game at the Turd Bowl on a beautiful sunny day in Phoenix. Viola's double inspired the Cunts players as they exploded for 7 runs in the top of the 6th inning and the defending Gantry League champions never looked back.

Viola also picked up the win as he limited the Poopydicks to four runs in his 3 1/3 innings of long relief.

Leading the charge offensively from the middle of the lineup, DwEvans went 5-6 with two 2B's and blasted a homer while Gary Carter found the gaps to register three 2B's and added a shot that disappeared in the high Arizona sky. Carter was a perfect 6-6 at the plate with 5 RBI's.

At the press conference, a furious McLane expressed his frustration, "I hope Viola and his entire family dies in a fire.  Seriously, fkn two out hit from the fucking pitcher then a 7 fucking run rally? Fuck that bullshit."
Team co-owner Gantry was just as frustrated in his assessment of the painful home opening loss, "man that was so fkn frustrating to watch.  Our team can't field...may need to shake things up imo".

"Cunted" said a jubilant MikeD and Nacho to the press about their win.

Sally Cunts 1-0, (0-0)

Pabst Blue Ribbons quickly dismantle Awesome Badasses in four

Arkansas (AP) - The Pabst Blue Ribbons scored a fury of runs in the second inning and capitalized on 3 Awesome Badass errors to take a commanding 9-1 lead.
In the third inning, Hrbek hit a grand slam and Don Baylor followed with a solo shot that cleared the cheap seats and gave the Blue Ribbons a 14-6 lead. After Sutton's scoreless top half of the 4th inning, the Blue Ribbons went for the kill and mercy ruled the Awesome Badasses as Herbek hit a RBI single to make the game 15-6, and Don Baylor hit a RBI double  to send the Awesome Badasses home from a rockin' Razorback Stadium at full capacity.

Sutton pitched 4 solid innings to limit the Awesome Badasses while Lemon, Hrbek, and Baylor combined to go for 9-12 from the top of the lineup.

Conversely, Mike Scott did not enjoy a memorable day at Razorback Stadium. Scott gave up 13 earned runs on 19 hits in four innings of disastrous work. Last year's FRBI playoff participants came out flat which left owner AlecTrevylan stunned and speechless.

Last year's last place team has now won 4 in a row dating back to week 20 when the Blue Ribbons shocked the Unholy Legions, Galactic Empire, and the Fighting Cutlers (now Ulrachers), all playoff teams from last year.

After the quick game, cheers of "Boss Hogg" repeated and highly echoed in the stadium as the fans were overwhelmed with joy and displayed deep loyalty for team owner Ryno who is known as a savior in Arkansas since he now has 4 straight wins.

Fighting Ulrachers win dramatic 12 inning thriller, longest game in FRBI history

Chicago (AP) - On a cold windy day at Soldier Field, the 68,000 loyal Ulracher fans were treated with a pitchers duel, the longest game in the history of the FRBI League, and a dramatic come-from-behind victory courtesy of Lou Whittaker's walk-off shot in the bottom of the 12th inning.

Down 6-5 in the bottom of the ninth inning with one out, Pedro Guerrero hit a game tying RBI triple to send the Gantry Division game into extra innings.

Both Grelts and Worrel escaped the 10th inning by pitching out of jams and held their respective opposition scoreless. The Ulrachers blew a chance to end the game as DaEvans was thrown out at home by RF Hendrk on a sac fly attempt.

In the top of the 11th, the OC Legions of Doom started off the inning by stringing 4 hits together and ended up scoring 4 runs to give them a comfortable lead going into the bottom of the 11th. However, the Ulrachers loaded the bases in the bottom half of the inning and set the stage for Will Clark's game tying grand slam with two outs. DaEvans grounded out out to end the inning and send the exciting contest into the 12th inning.

The highly touted offense of the OC Legions of Doom only managed one hit and no runs off an exhausted Grelts in the top of the 12th. Candy Mldndo led off the bottom half of the inning with a single, and Lou Whitkr hit his second homerun of the game as he delivered a fatal walk off shot off Worrel to end the game. Mayhem ensued at Soldier Field as the fans went into a crazed and deranged frenzy.

Doc Gooden, who is on a mission to reclaim the number one pitcher label from Danny Cox, pitched 4 scoreless innings as he shut down the powerful OC Legions of Doom lineup.

Both team's SP's and RP's pitched superbly and kept the opposing offensive display to a minimum. Last years HR king and MVP, Mark McGwire, was a quiet 1-6 on the afternoon.

The buzz surrounding the press conference was that this game is arguably the best FRBI game ever witnessed.

OC Legion of Doom 0-1, (0-1)
Fighting Ulrachers 1-0, (1-0)

Man, the top of my order was terrible.  6-20, 1 2B, 0 HR, 1 RBI from my three best hitters is not going to get it done.

The pitching in that game was pretty stellar all around - even Worrell wasn't terrible until he got really tired.  Also, Garrelts had clutch back-to-back strikeouts to end the 9th or 10th, I think in the middle of my order.

Fighting Artichokes overcome 4 deficits for comeback victory, Burks delivers walk-off 3 run blast

Fort Dodge (AP) - Last year's Cinderella team overcame four different scoring deficits over the BananaHammocks and captured a dramatic victory when Burks delivered a 3 run walk-off shot.

First year owner Turd got his team to jump out to a 7-1 lead by the second inning and the BananaHammocks appeared to be in full control until the 9th inning.

Up 13-12 in the ninth, the FRBI career ERA leader for RP's and BananaHammock closer K.Dayley came in to slam the door on a feisty Artichoke team who had the bottom of their order coming up. However, with the roaring crowd on their feet at Fort Dodge Park, T.Puhl came off the bench to register a pinch hit single with one out, T.Henke followed with a single, Schfld popped up. With two outs and the game on the line with runners at first and second, E.Burks drilled a fastball into the sunset in Iowa and ended the game with one swing and capped an impressive comeback by the Fighting Artichokes.

Leading the Artichoke offense, E. Burks went 6-6, smacked 4 doubles, hit a pair of shots, and knocked in 6 runners. R.Jackson also blasted a pair of shots and drove in 4 runners.

I think Darky's right: 1-0, 7-1, 10-8, 12-11.  Of course, in games as high-scoring as Fantasy RBI, the visitors will almost always have lots of deficits in a non-blowout.

OK 3, I missed 1-0, but between 10-8 and 12-11 FA never had the lead

You are correct, and I am not.

Galactic Empire prevail with last inning heroics

Imperial Center (AP) - It was a reunion of sorts. It was just a few months ago that the entire championship pitching staff of the Rebel Alliance were celebrating as members of the Galactic Empire, FRBI V champions. However, last night at their old home at Imperial Center Stadium, they took the mound and hoped to continue their success as the #1 pitching unit from last year.
Morris, Cox, and Orosco did what they usually do, shut down opposing hitters. The same could not be said for last year's WS MVP, C.Shrld who blew a 4 run ninth inning lead and allowed the Galactic Empire to escape with a narrow victory.

J.Morris cruised for 6 innings as he was in dominant form. Morris only allowed 3 earned runs off 6 hits and the Rebel Alliance looked like they were on their way to earning an opening day victory with last year's Cy Young Award winner D.Cox coming in for relief. Cox pitched 1 2/3 innings and gave up a 2 run home run to D.Mtngly in the bottom of the 8th inning. Orosco came in and recorded the last out.

Caveman Robnsn pitched a scoreless 9th and kept the Empire within reasonable striking distance going into the bottom half of the inning as the Empire faced a 9-5 deficit.

Madlck homered off Shrld to lead off the inning, Heath flied out, and D.Gladdn came of the bench to deliver a pinch hit home run. Caveman Robnsn heroically singled with one out and Leonard followed up with a single. Shrdn recorded the second out with a fly out.

Down to their final out and with runners on first and second, the juggernaut Galactic Empire showed their resiliency and will to win. Strwby singled to load the bases, then the captain of the Empire---D.Mtngly, hit a RBI single to cut the Alliance lead to one run. The stage was set for G.Gaetti and Gaetti delivered with a clutch game winning 2 run double.
Imperial Center Stadium erupted with jubilation and owner Darkside rushed to congratulate Gaetti over at second base.

Asked about the amazing comeback victory, Darkside said "there was never any doubt that we would come back and win. That's what is expected here in our winning program, find ways to win with heads up ball. That's what we do, we are the Empire".

Rebel Alliance 0-1, (0-1)
Galactic Empire 1-0, (1-0)

lol hahaha.

It should be noted that I am scoring the glitch when the second baseman fields the ball and the first baseman is moving away from first base while the throw is made and ricochets off the fence as a hit. The frequency of that glitch happening is really high, so I consider it a hit since it's not a BOP, and once again---the common frequency of that glitch. The hitter put the ball in a tough spot and forced the glitch for the 1B to move away from the base and not be in position to receive the ball.

Quote from Alliance Co-Owner and President of Operations Re-Peat's press conference

"The really sad thing about that loss is the great numbers the Alliance put up...  all of the starting lineup batted .400 or better and had more hits than the Empire, but just didn't have the right chemistry/luck to string those hits together in a meaningful fashion.

It's true that Schirialdi blew this one for us in a big way as starting 1-0 vs a division rival would have been huge, but realistically we can't expect to only score 9 and win games.  That's the bottom line.  Preseason action in the Bourbon League (N. KY) showed that the rebels will average about 15-16 runs per game and falling so far short of that is crippling.  The offense is what failed here, even though the spotlight is on the closer.

While this loss is unfortunate, the headlines about this loss from the Capitol Times have been framed and hung in the Rebels locker room.  Expect the team to come out firing in the next game, and especially in their next meeting with the Empire."

Fighting Artichokes land major corporate sponsor

Fort Dodge (AP)  The Fighting Artichokes front office has just released a press statement confirming a lucrative sponsorship deal with Green Giant.  The Sponsorship is believed to be the first of its kind in the Fantasy RBI league.

Terms of the deal have not been made public yet, but the agreement will help fund massive renovations inside the stadium.  Planned expansion will include a series of luxury suites to be built just under the top deck near 1st and 3rd base running parallel with the foul lines.  Expansion will begin immediately after the season concludes.

On top of advertisements adorning the outfield, The renaming ceremony for the field and stadium will occur at the next home game.  Jolly Green Field at Green Giant stadium will be officially introduced to the public with a ribbon cutting ceremony.  Each paid attendee will be given a voucher that evening for free vegetables at any concession area.

Crews have already began installing Green Giant advertisement on the outfield walls, and scoreboard.  Just outside the stadium bleachers in center field will now stand a 60 foot inflatable Green Giant, complete with Fighting Artichokes hat and baseball glove.

President and General Manager Brad Bell made a quick statement on his way out of One Artichoke Place.  "I would like to thanks Green Giant for their diligent negotiations late into last night.  This is the start of a wonderful relationship and hopefully will lead to larger things for the community.  I would also like to introduce the new home run promotion at this time.  For every Artichoke home run that hits the Green Giant just beyond center field, we will let the 1st 750 kids 10 years and under into the next game for free.  I trust the commissioner will do all in his power to move the league along in quick fashion so our crews can utilize the favorable Iowa summer to begin the suite renovations once the season has concluded...with an Artichokes championship!"

Congratulations on the lucrative sponsorship Mr. Bell. It may be said that getting to the second round of the playoffs last season, having an exploding fan base, and winning the first game of the season has really enticed the powerful Green Giant to sponsor the Fighting Artichokes.

It's encouraging to see the FRBI League expand and take off like it is. This new state of the art stadium, Jolly Green Field at Green Giant Stadium, will boost the league's value and identity.

Your fans have been really loyal and supportive. You are in a great situation TBT.

Last week's tv ratings for the league was through the roof.

Also, week one was crazy. Low scoring games and wild finishes. Had fun scoring the games.

Week 2 will be played tomorrow.
