The Twins took Jupiter, FL High School shortstop Andrew Thompson with a compensatory second-round draft choice. Andrew is the son of Robbie Thompson.
I haven't been able to find any news articles mentioning this - it was relayed secondhand on a Twins message board. Unfortunately for Andrew, the post described him as having a simlar game to his father, so he'll suck when we make our RBI 2k9 ROM with him in it.
is the MLB draft today!?
Good call, Mr. Wizard.
whos Mr. Wizard?

He's new. Cut him some slack while he picks up on the finer points of Dee-Nee comedy.
Mr. OJ, you have exactly 24 hours to get up to speed. Start studying now.
Now, onto the task at hand, which other RBIers have spread their seed into today's MLB? Is Michael Barrett the son of Marty Barrett? Doesn't Tim Raines have a son either in the MLB or in the minors? Does Julio Franco have any grandkids that are rising through the ranks? Perhaps there is a list of such legaces somewhere on Dee-Nee that I simply haven't found yet.
Michael and Marty - no relation. Tim Raines Jr. just got outrighted a couple of weeks ago (I think) - he may be done for good at this point.
The WATN page (http://dee-nee.com/rbi/wherearetheynow.shtml) has a list of 2nd generation RBI'ers...
Ah, I thought I remembered seeing that somewhere. Thanks Gantry.
We're here for you... Except JoeDirt...

It's really unfair that your post count will surpass mine in a day or two.
Try "editing" posts as opposed to posting a line and then another one 25 seconds later more often...And maybe you could delete some of your more assanine posts since I know how much you
love deleting posts.

I'll always have more posts than you; therefore, I'll always be better than you...

one and done for Taylor Mattingly
http://www.nypost.com/sports/yankees/43662.htmTaylor Mattingly won't be following in is father's footsteps. The oldest son of Yankees legend and current hitting coach, Don, has decided to pull the plug on a professional baseball career after two seasons. Taylor, 20, was a 42nd-round pick in the 2003 draft.
"He loved the game, not the lifestyle," Don Mattingly said of his son, who missed all of last year with a shoulder injury after batting .224 (13-for-58) in 24 games for Tampa (Rookie League) in 2003.

Looks like his dad taught him well - .204 slugging avg
I just saw on ESPN that Koby Clemens was the 24th pick in the 8th round of yesterday's draft. Plays 3rd base.

I can't just let this go, but I've got nothing witty to say about it.
EDIT: Ooh figure out something witty - OK maybe not.
Gantry talk him well, too.
I'll talk you well...
fixed...
The Cubs drafted Bob Brenly's son in the 43rd round, though it sounds like he's gonna go to college.
Daron (son of Don) Sutton is an announcer for the Brewers. Does he get mention with 2nd generation RBIers? He does form an all RBI (sort of) broadcast team with Bill Schroeder.
FROM ST. LOUIS CARDINLAS WEBSITE
Baby 'Birds: Kevin Jarvis allowed one run and struck out six over six innings in Triple-A Memphis' 4-3 win over Omaha. Raul Gonzalez had two hits. ... Aaron Herr and Kevin Estrada each homered, and combined for seven RBIs, in Double-A Springfield's 13-7 win over Arkansas. Chris Lambert was roughed up again, allowing seven runs (six earned) in 3 2/3 innings. ... Class A Palm Beach dropped a doubleheader against Daytona, 3-1 and 4-0. Mike McCoy had a hit and a walk in each game. ... Jarrett Hoffpauir singled, doubled, walked and drove in two runs in Quad Cities' 10-4 win over South Bend. Kyle McClellan pitched four shutout innings for the save.
Herr, the son of former Cardinal Tom Herr, was the player of the day. The second baseman did a little bit of everything. In addition to his home run and four RBIs, he singled, walked twice and scored three runs.
And this could be the worst player website ever.

I heard Lenny Dykstra's son was drafted as well.

what about former Devil Ray's IF Jared Sandberg?
Viola, Reynolds, Wilson x2, Spilman and Sandberg 2nd generation added:

That article on Viola's kid never mentions his first name, so I assumed he's a Jr. Let me know who else I'm missing...
Such a PITA, I think the whole site should be the database. Am I crazy?
I see it becoming much more if we can get more people to contribute. It literally takes 3-4 times as long to edit a page on the website than on a wiki. And most importantly, people don't have to wait for me on the wiki. insteading of posting updates on the forums, people can simply add it themselves. But alas, we need more contributors. ShitPaw and I can't do it ourselves. Edit people edit!

I think you are gonna get yourself into trouble if you start including Nephews, It's gonna be tougher to maintain.
Viola's kid is Frank Viola III (our "original" Viola is apparently a junior) - he played in a collegiate summer league last year that has a team in Rochester, and I saw a news article when his dad threw batting practice for them.

Oh, I'm ready for the responsibilty. That or I'll transfer the page the wiki and let others help me out. The latter sounds like a good idea...
It was posted I think, but I don't think he's actually in the minors yet, is he?
Beautiful, Koby has been added...
AH, that post was originally blank. Pena Jr has been added...
What the fuck is up with RBI'ers naming all their kids after themselves? A bit cocky don't ya thinK?
I think we need to start an RBI parenting center...
Gooden Jr jailed, faces multiple charges (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2128860)

16 grams is a bit more than a half ounce, which is less than one would expect to find if he was doing some heavy selling, but more than most people would need for just a night or two of smoking. If it was good stuff, it was probably worth a couple hundred dollars at most, or as little as about $50.
16 grams isn't a whole lot, really. Works out to 4.8 ounces (good guess, Nacho.) If it was kind buds, it was worth about $200 or so but if it was just commercial, probably about $60-$80. When I got arrested, I had an ounce on me.

There are 28 grams in an ounce. 16 grams is nowhere near 4.8 ounces. If you got arrested with an ounce, then you are generally in a whole lot of shit, depending on your local ordinances/state's laws.

My abacus sucks.
But I did get arrested with an ounce. Actually, my brother and his friend and I got arrested with an ounce. It was our first offense, no big deal really.
Jayson Werth is Dick Schofield's nephew...
In case nobody else is watching the Braves game.
Spotted Wally Backman Jr. playing third base for the Sioux City Explorers of the independent American Association the other night. After the game, I was regretting that I did not yell "Your dad sucked in RBI Baseball!" at him when he came to the plate.
I bet he would have chuckled...

He was mentioned in the Denard Span/Drew Storen trade rumors at the trade deadline - supposedly the deal-breaker for the Twins was that the Nats wouldn't give up Lombardozzi.
