i was looking at the hall of shame today, and i noticed that marty barret is in there for striking out to end the '86 series. i think it should be noted that he was deemed player of the game before this event, as it makes it that much more distasteful.

Here's a quick story about the beloved Bob Stanley:

Jimmy Dunn who once worked for ESPN Radio, was performing at a card show in the outskirts of Boston, not sure if everyone's aware, but Bob Stanley lived in Boston for many more years after he finished playing and was an absolute douche, there are tons of stories, but to give you an idea, there was a tricycle on the sidewalk in front of his house once, and he threw it into oncoming traffic for no real reason.

Anyhow, Stanley had just finished signing autographs and Dunn was on stage, Stanley was still being very loud and disrespectful towards Dunn, so Dunn asked him politely to pipe down, Stanley told him that it looked like he needed some help up there anyway, Dunn, who, again, once worked for ESPN Radio, proceeded to go through  Stanley's suck fests in game 7. This embarrassed Stanley and he proceeded to shut up.

After the show, they were both in the parking lot and Dunn was walking up to Stanley to tell him that he didn't have to be such a douche, when Stanley said (before Dunn said anything), you don't have to apologize, I've seen Don Rickles and you're no Don Rickles, Dunn shot back with "Well, I've been heckled by Roger Clemens, and you're no Roger Clemens"

Seems like quite a douche...  You did mean Calvin Schiraldi in the opening line, right?  If not, give us some stories about the Steemer...

As it turns out, it was indeed Stanley and it was a pitch by pitch recount of his appearance in game 6 (including the pitch to the backstop).

I'll go ahead and fix it again.
