Why did the Tengen programmers pull Reggie Jackson's .275, 39 homer year from the 1982 Angels and install them into the first R.B.I. game? He actually hit .241 and 18 homers, was 40 years old and struck out a ton. Jackson has long been considered one of the best R.B.I. sluggers around... it's as if they gave his 1986 player "the cream" or equine steroids in the ass or something...

Of course, it makes this Hall of Famer more legendary in R.B.I. terms but what gives? Did they do this with any other players in the original R.B.I.?

The shame of it all...

And what about Armas?  And Burks never had an AB for the '86 Red Sox, and on and on

Boston is the antichrist of RBI.  It still doesnt explain the agnostic types around here loving them.

You're right. Armas hit just 11 bombs (after hitting 43 in 1984), while Burks wasn't even on the Sox roster. In addition, Baylor hit just .238 and they gave him a .263 average with the "fantasy R.B.I." Sox.

Were these programmers Red Sox homers or what?

Thanks for your input.

Tim Laudner actually hit below the Mendoza line in '87, but they gave him a .220-ish average in RBI.
