I love backdooring my opponents. Works once maybe twice in a game. Throwing behind the runner is very effective against players with average speed and slower. My favorite is when the opponent tries to steal second or fakes steals, and when the ball gets to the catcher, I just throw it straight to first to get the runner out. The runner who attempts the fake steal, will go back to first when the screen switches back to the inf/out screen.

That never works.

Never, ever, works.

Really! It worked on my buddy last week when he tried a fake steal, and I just threw it directly to first. Gunned. A gapper, runner going to third, backdoor to second, seed to third or a pickle situation. The backdoor will only work once or twice for the same opponent. Attez, I would beat you 11 times out of 10 if we ever played. Give me Frisco, and I will give you a suitcase of donuts.

11 times out of 10? That's only possible for Freemasons.

And I like donuts.

Okay, I am not of British decent, so 10 out 10.
Donuts does not go down well when your whole team drops the big ofeur. Just be patient, Clint Hurdle once told me, " TD, you can't go 6 for 4 today, don't worry about your average". I was released after the season. The moral of the story, uhm, I'll have to think about it.

if the backdoor works, your opponent is total shit.

I think Darkside meant that he likes to bang chicks in the back door

The only person I get to play against, or rather the only person who can give me a decent game around here is my brother. I usually play RBI like it was a real baseball game, I mean I throw to whatever base keeps the odds in my favor. Throwing to second to keep the runner from advancing etc....

I like to play smart, especially if we're playing curve ball. We only recently started playing Straight pitch.

Gerlost

CCR mastered the art of lookin' out one's back door.

I think the backdoor move does work, maybe like once a game.  I do think the best of the best can be a tad too aggressive...and the first time, that's all it takes.  The notion that only the shit players fall for this is just silly.

Also, Sarc, are you implying that in real baseball, the catcher does not at times rifle the ball to first if the runner is faking a steal attempt?

No I'm not saying it doesn't happen or that you shouldn't do it. Hell one of my favorite players from the 80's was Tony Pena. He was notorious for the quick throw to first, from his knees no less, and had great success throwing out runners. I never said that "I" personally don't do this. What I meant in saying that I treat the game like real Baseball is more me meaning that I try to use real BB situational stuff to put the odds more in my favor. Things like that. Most of the time I do hit and runs nowadays it's almost always a "fake" steal you could say. My brother is just as good as I am at throwing runners out trying to steal. I can't remember the last time either one of us had a successful stolen base. Though we've picked each other off every now and again.

Attezz

Most quick throws to first are done from their knees.

Thank you dirthead. Good point, especially with the agressive players.

...and sometimes you have to be a bit more aggressive--especially against the Rileys, Fosters, Beales, etc. of the world.

I've only met one Riley and one Beales.  Are there more running around?  Were they cloned or something?  That's crazy.

I bet Beales' parents will dominate the next COTUT.
