Ady: I'm not trying to be a wise-ass, but if you and I played, you'd need uneven teams, like me as Houston and you as NL.   Although that's what it'd take for you to beat me (and I'd put money on me with Hou), the example is obviously extreme--but you (should) get the point.  And there are subtle differences in teams, too--that make it fun for two players of equal talents.

Plus to add to JoeDirt's post... In baseball people go through slumps the same is truein RBI.  Pitching is a little off or something.  Right now im in my hair trigger slump, where i swing at everything,  I cant stop myself.  I just try to guess the pitch.  It sucks ass.  Im sure that when my eye comes back and this retarded thumb gets better Ill be about 10 times as good as i am now.  which is scary.

Joe Dirt-- do you previously know/have experience with this guy?? or is that an open challenge to play you NL vs Ho... because i wouldnt mind making a little money...

heh heh...yeah, I usually don't make open offers with me as Hou and anybody else as NL...I played Ady a few times and beat him soundly; the final game, he quit in the middle of the game, like a ten year old.

Nice try, though.   ;)

I'll throw my hat into the ring.

1)  There is but one RBI.  It is the original RBI and that is all.

2)  ROM hacks are fine.  I play in the Ady league, and although I'm not familiar with each team, I do my best to enjoy playing the game against human competetion.  It in no way can replace the sheer joy that comes with playing the original RBI.

3) RBI 2 and 3 aren't the devil. . . damn close, but not quite.  They have merit with me because each game has the Cubs on it.

I understand where joe ady is coming from with his "every thing is even" idea.  It's damn near communist simply because on the surface ady is correct -- all things being equal the game would be best if no one team had an advantage, but no matter how hard we try, nothing will ever be even.

In RBI terms, no two people will have exactly the same controller.  NO two people will have the same abilities --- some are better pitchers / some are better hitters, etc.   Some people have played RBI so much that they become one with a certain team --- maybe even Hou or StL --- these people, for no apparent reason, play better when they use "their" team.

I tend to agree with Briz --- if we continue to delv into the the depths of RBI, we will eventually find something ugly. . . .something grotesque. . . something tubgirlesque even.

I'd shit my pants if I could find an original version RBI league!

Is there a league that uses the original ROM?  or with 2 player pause?  Would love to play in one. Maybe everyone gets a team and plays 3 game series against each team.  And have to use a pitching rotation.

As an added bonus, Ryno may be the best player in RBI 3 (it's close between him and Bonds, at least on the 1990 teams).  The '90 Cubs rule; if the season would've been played in RBI 3, they'd have won it all that year.

And if the cubs woulda had a team worth shitting on, Ryno would have gotten MVP number 2.  .306 / 40 / 100 ain't bad out of the second baseman.

I agree with anything and everything Ryno23 says. There is without a doubt, no better player to ever step on a field than Ryne Sandberg. No contest. It's a shame the mafia runs the HOF voting and he's been denied. I mean, if Ozzie Smith can get into the hall with his career .260 BA and 5 career HRs, then why can't Ryno? Because he actually has a penis and didn't start games by running onto the field and doing faggoty flips. Also, I agree with everything Briznock says. Anyone who speaks out against original RBI definitely takes it up the butt.

I'm the biggest Sandberg fan the world has ever known, but for God's sake, let's leave his schlong out of this.

THen you can see the sorry state that this place truly is in.  This is what spurs conversation in a place like this.  It really is sad.
