Any way to make pitchers who are good in watch mode?

What stats would I give to a pitcher I wanted to be good in watch mode?

I'm doing a fantasy league on another site based on RBI with modern players...

Power is based on a mix of OPS and HR, weighted 60% toward last year and 40% towards the three years before that. Contact is the same 60/40 weighting, just with batting average.

Pitching is a lot harder. I just want to make sure that the "aces" are better than the bad pitchers... how would I go about making a pitcher good for watch mode games?

I'm not sure, but I like the idea.   I'd be interested to see the ROM when you get it finished.  Seems like if the pitchers were kick ass in watch mode, they might be more difficult to beat in 1 player mode.

Thought: how about a knuckler that drops almost every time, that is the same speed as the fastball/regular pitch? Would be awfully hard to lay off...

Of course, the computer always manages to lay off knucklers, so maybe that'd be more useful against humans...

That wouldn't work, MScott usually gets destroyed in watch mode (as does everybody else), and he's what you describe there.

I always had more luck with relief pitchers throwing junk than I did with NRyan, it seemed like the less stamina, the better, if that makes sense, try to find the stats from the old leagues.

Also, it feels like you're cheating on us by setting up a league on a different website.

Super fast fastballs search for the Heaven Hell ROM.  Makes one player a more tough.  Not so sure about Watch

Cheating? Pffft, Dee-Nee is my #1 RBI booty-call, but I'm still allowed to experiment with the back door with #6.

I'm experimenting with this formula for contact + power, if it works out decently it'll make modern mods much easier.

So, we've got nothing other than super fast fastballs or setting stamina to zero solution?

nomaaa

is there really another forum as dedicated as dee-nee to rbi?

Congrats Nomaaa.  Dee-Nee's new Sandwich King.

No, but there are people who are really into baseball... thus being later on the RBI booty call list

I just had an idea on this - you may want to try tweaking the Unknown values.  They only get loaded when the computer is pitching.  No one has yet figured out what they do, but it may be worth a shot.

Last working theory I had on the unknowns is that they influence the pitch selection of CPU-controlled pitchers.

This was always my less informed theory also

Give it some serious lab testing Alec and report back.  You could make the (never updated) FAQ!
