Looking for RBI Baseball 3 instruction manual

Well it IS related to RBI Baseball right? If this section of the boards is just for the NES original, I can move this request elsewhere.

In any event, I wanna make a write up or two about RBI Baseball 3 for the Genesis: it was the first RBI game I ever played and still my favorite because of the time spent with it for many years. The first write-up I plan to do is to compare the original RBI teams with their RBI 3 counterparts, giving a synopsis of each team similar to the kind found on the dee-nee website.

The instruction manual had player stats in the back and unfortunately, my booklet has long since been gone :^P RBI 3 doesn't have any in-game stat viewer (the later games do and they're not really quite as good!) and I lack any real fancy tools to tell player stats from looking inside the game code, so I wanna rely on the booklet.

I'm just looking for the stats portions located in the back, not any other part.

This is more of a shot in the dark request, but hey, I might get lucky! Any of you guys have it and are willing to scan/take-pictures-if-you-lack-a-scanner the stats portion?

Oh that's okay, thanks for the link though! I already have roms of the NES and Genesis versions of RBI 3 and my writeups will be specific to the Genesis version. I'm pretty sure the Genesis version has differences from the NES version with regards to player statistics (not the MLB kind, the in-game kind that handles power and speed and stuff), although both of them do feature identical availability of teams and their lineups.

The kind of stats I'm looking for are the nerdy things that affect power and stuff. Some players, like Pat Sheridan of the '87 Detroit team are different from the NES version (Pat doesn't run as fast and seems to have less power), but others, like Darrell Evans ('DE First' in this game) can still knock home runs into upper atmosphere with the same ability.

i definitely have the manual for RBI 2, and maybe RBI 3...but they would be at my mom's house.

Just posting here to confirm I got the manual today in the mail. I had to buy another copy, but it was worth it anyway, because my cartridge was getting a little worn.

Unfortunately the manual is not very much help at all! :^P The only stats listed in the manual (besides the avg. and HR and ERA stats) are those for speed. Nothing for contact or power, and nothing at all for any of the pitchers! I had hoped to find some more solid stats so I can have a little something to fall back on for my write ups rather than speculation, but I guess this will have to do. Unless anyone decides to peek inside the ROM and look for stats (like heck if I know how to disassemble Genesis roms :^P).

Really? Shame :^P Ah well, no big deal, it's still a help to my writeups on the '86 and '87 teams and I already found some telling changes, such as Don Baylor being a LOT slower than in RBI 1.

My only hope for the rest of the real stats is to look inside the rom and I know nothing of this at all. The stats are also unique, I checked the Stats Viewer for RBI 4 and all the stats are completely different.

Does the Genesis version from the '90 season?  Post some speed values, and I can verify whether those are the same - if they are, maybe they used the same ratings all around.

Genesis version has the entire 1990 season and contains the division winners from '83 to '89. Basically, the same teams from the NES version. Here's two team speed ratings from the manual, with 20 being the highest score:

All matches with the NES data - 9 speed in the manual is equivalent to a 130 speed rating, with each manual point worth 2 rating points (Bonds has 148 speed).

Well that's good at least, but I do wonder about the power ratings of some players. I already told of '90 Henderson creaming the ball, other players seem to have some surprising pop in their bats that belay their HR totals (Don Slaught in the '90 Pirates has hit a few homeruns for me, as has Lind).

Slaught has a power rating that is higher than his homers would lead you to believe - it's 780 on the NES (same as Martinez, Redus, and McClendon).  Lind has a really weak 732, so he could be a good candidate for a NES/Genesis difference.

To Lind's credit the two homers I got from him in back to back games were of the line drive variety (like, right next to the foul pole kind) and usually those homers are the only ones that low-power batters can squeeze out.

I got a more convincing homer from Wally Backman off the bench, but I think this may be because the game might still have the power bonus for players coming off the bench on their first at bat.
