OC sleepwalks, then wake up for thrilling comeback victory

PISMO BEACH (AP) - Down 13-4 going into the bottom of the 7th inning, the morning fog cleared up at Central Coast Stadium. Fittingly so, the OC offense woke up and went on a 12-1 run in final three innings to earn a comeback victory over Chocolate Rain.

The Chocolate Rain jumped out to a 10-1 lead by the second inning and had a 13-4 lead going into the bottom of the 7th inning behind a great pitching effort by NRyan.  The OC scored 3 runs in the 7th to cut the deficit to 13-7 going into the 8th inning. Worrel pitched a scoreless inning and the OC erupted for 9 runs on 10 hits in the bottom of the 8th. The OC bench played a key role as they went 3-4 in the inning and igniting the sleepwalking OC team.

G.Gaetti hit a pair of shots and drove in 5 runners to lead the offense and the OC pitching shut down the Chocolate Rain as they only allowed 2 runs in the final 5 innings. Worrel and Grelts allowed no runs out of the bullpen as the Chocolate Rain hurt their playoff chances.

C.Lemon hit a pair of shots to raise his league leading total to 25 Hr's for the year.

The Chocolate Rain's playoff hopes still remain alive as they are only one game back of the Fighting Artichokes.

With the win, the OC technically are in third place and control their own destiny for a playoff spot.

Cutler bullpen provides key support for victory

IMPERIAL CENTER (AP) - The Cutlers kept their playoff hopes alive by coming back to win in the last two innings and got impressive lights out pitching from their bullpen.

Down 18-13 in the top of the 8th, the Cutlers scored 5 runs to even up the score. With the score even at 18 in the top of the 9th, DCincs hit a solo shot to give the Cutlers a one run lead going into the last half of the ninth. From there J.Brngr retired the side in order to pick up the crucial win.

Dayley and Brngr pitched flawless in relief as they combined to only allow 1 hit and no earned runs in the final two innings.

The Empire uncharacteristically committed 2 errors which led to 3 unearned runs which came back to haunt the Empire in the end.

T.Raines was the sparkplug all day for the Cutler offense. The speedster went 5-6, crossed home plate 5 times, knocked in 3 runners, and swiped 3 bags to give him a league leading 12 for the year.

The Cutlers playoff hopes are alive and well with their second straight victory. Technically in 4th place in the Gantry Division, the Cutlers will need at least one more win and some help in the final two games to move on.

Despite the loss, the Empire clinched the DoveRBI Division earlier in the day with the Unholy Legions upset loss to the Blue Ribbons.

How is it possible to fuck up the lyrics to my own teams theme song?  Did you write the Sally Cunt theme?  Didn't think so.

Rebel Alliance sneak back into playoff hunt

MADISON (AP) - The Rebel Alliance got key hits and great pitching to overcome an early 11-3 deficit and surge past the Fighting Artichokes 18-15 at Madison Park.

P.Molitor and J.Bell each hit a HR and drove in 4 runners while the suddenly resurgent C.Mldndo hit a pair of shots to lead the Alliance attack to victory. The Alliance tagged Gooden for 8 runs in his 3 innings of long relief work as they overcame a 11-7 deficit against one of the premier pitchers in the league.

R.Clemens allowed only 1 run in his impressive long relief work and the Alliance bullpen held off the Artichokes in the last two innings to preserve the victory and to help the Alliance jump back into the playoff picture in the DoveRBI Division.

With two games remaining, the Rebel Alliance is one game behind the Artichokes for the final playoff spot and evened up in the standings with Chocolate Rain. The Rebel Alliance hold the tiebreaker over both teams. The Alliance will need to win at least one game and get some help if they hope to move on to the dance.
