Quote from: ultimate7 on 12/21/24, 08:07:41 PMRickey Henderson, man him and Fernando, the last 2 were quite unexpected

Rickey was 65 and will be stealing his way to heaven.  I hope nobody breaks his record though with these silly base stealing rules and huge bases, it may be broken.

Quote from: TheSunshineFund on 10/17/24, 10:11:56 PMI did a book report on Mark Fidrych's biography once in grade school.  I found his mailing address in some baseball card magazine a few years later and sent him a card to sign as well as the book report, thinking maybe he'd sign that too or something.

He sent me the signed card back but kept the book report.

he's grading it and will send it back with red marks

there are also folks complaining about the lack of Bobby Grich, Dwight Evans, and Willie Randolph.

Gantry

Oh man that sounds like a rough second half of his life, RIP Chester Copperpot

I'm sorry you have no taste and that Illinois sucks.

BDawk

Damn, bummer for Chet.  The 80s Tigers were cool ass teams.
In RBI Chet was a solid dependable hitter.

He had a WAR of 55.7.  Dude could fkn hit.  Rest in Peace, Mr. Lemon

the dude either has some high float or a mess between the cheeks.

A lot of recent HOFers are put to shame by that number.  Let's get Sweet Lou Whitaker in there too (75.1 WAR!)

Hell of a defensive CF too, at least when I play Out of the Park Baseball.  Sad day for 80's baseball and we're losing way too many of these players recently.

Hrbek was and is my all-time favorite Twin. But I first really got into following baseball by watching Cubs games on WGN... I played second base in tee ball and little league, and the Cubs' best player was their second baseman. Even as I followed the Twins more, especially after living in Minnesota, no one ever passed Ryno as my baseball hero.

Finally updating for Davey Johnson passing about a week ago. I think he is also the NES Mets manager.
