what is there to say.... the guy is the last of three deadly lefties... of which he is the worst of.   unfortunately, his bat is just good enough to merit his spot in the lineup.

I hope he rests in peace, the trouble is the fellow owes me forty bucks"

I hate Matt Nokes with a passion.  If at all possible I would bean him at every at bat and hope that maybe I can miraculously put him out of the game.   Matt Nokes is the devil...well he and Jamal Meeks...

Welcome to the forums Godlloverrbi, member #100!  And some impressive piss-n-vinegar for a first post...

I find Fatty Matty to be a very streaky player.  Some games he'll be crushing homers left and right and other games he'll do nothing.  Very prone to the groundout to right, especially with a runner on first.  Deadly with the bases loaded though.  Also plays very well in Las Vegas....

As of last year, he was a player-coach for the Schaumbug Flyers here in Chicagoland....

Agreed.  He either spanks it or shanks it.

Gantry - How are the Flyers, the stadium, etc?  I will be moving back up to Chicagoland, and I might check them out if I want to see a baseball game, and the beloved SOX are out of town.  And how well did Nokes do as a player?  He's got to be at least 40 now, if not more.

I haven't watched a Flyer's game but they say it is a great place.  Drove by it a couple times and it looks nice...

Just checked out their website and it looks like Matt Nokes is no longer on the Flyers, player or otherwise.  Also looks like Ron Kittle isn't the manager, that sucks.  Kittle was my favorite player for many a year....

By the way , my take on Nokes is: not clutch.  If you already have a lead, he is mighty powerful. If it's the bottom of the ninth and a couple of outs--lazy fly ball.  He may start a rally though.

I remember him in the majors and I hated his look (and his dendency to rap the ball around the foul poll), but as and RBI'er I've always loved him or hated him, depending of course what side of the field he was on

It's good to be back in the Forum where I can discuss these important topics.  I got laid off, so I had other things on my mind.

On to Nokes.  I think he might be the most controversial player in the game.  I love him, yet I've seen some people (Blyleven No No in tournament play) pinch hit for him with Heath.

Interesting.

my condolences ex-champ on you joining the ranks of the unemployed...  at least it means more time for the greatest video game ever created.

the fat man has his ups and downs...probalby more so than any other player in the game...but hes the backbone of the defense and a great clubhouse ying to kirk gibsons firey yang...a necessity in the lineup
