The Murph

Hello, I wanted to introduce myself since this is my first post.  I previously lived in Abilene, Tx and played RBI on the Air Base at the Recreation Center.  My friends and I would spend hours upon hours playing this wonderful baseball game.  I recently realized how much I enjoyed playing it.  This last weekend, I retrieved my Nintendo from my parents house and wouldn't you know it, I had an unlicensed RBI cartridge.  Last night I played for almost 3 hours!

To get to the point, the refound interest has me wanting an arcade game for my own.  If anyone knows where, who, or how to get one, please let me know.  I am located in New Orleans and plan on finding out if any of the local arcade dealers may have one.  So if anyone can help me, I would be very appreciative.

Welcome to the forums Murph!

Not too helpful, but I have a FAQ question regarding buying the arcade version:

It's nice to preview or play any game on your computer... but it's just not the same though.  In my opinion, emulation will never replace playing on the classic systems and arcades.  I too am in the process of looking for a quality RBI arcade.  Best of luck Murph.

I have the arcade version of RBI Baseball (aka Vs. RBI Baseball).  Here is a tip if you are looking for one in your area.  Vs. RBI Baseball can be hard to find close to home but it is a direct board swap with all of the other Nintendo games in the Vs. series.  What this means is that if you find a Vs. Super Mario Bros., Vs. Golf, Vs. Excitebike, Vs. Soccer, Vs. Ice Climber, etc. at a reasonable price in working condition you should go ahead and buy it.  Then you just wait for a Vs. RBI Baseball PCB and Marquee (the sign on top of the machine) to come up on ebay and buy them.  Switching the boards is very simple, just disconnect the old and plug in the new.  Much cheaper to pay shipping on a small board and sign than on an entire game cabinet.

Very good advice Kruger...  and welcome!

Are the PCBs for the Cocktail and Stand-up versions the same?  I assume they are, but want to make sure people don't get burnt.  Also make sure that any board you buy is actually working...

Keith Krueger

Yes, cocktail and upright use the same boards.

Thanks for the info Krueger, very helpful...
