The New York Mets signed catcher Benito Santiago to a Minor League contract on Thursday. The 40-year-old veteran will work out in Port St. Lucie, Fla., before reporting to Norfolk of the International League.

I'm guessing that the Mets will let go of backup catcher Ramon Castro and bring up Benito in a few weeks.

Very good news...  Considering how few RBI'ers we have left, I'm going to stretch the rules a bit and make him an active player...

IIRC, Benito refused to be reassigned to AAA for the Pirates.  So I wonder why he's doing AAA now, unless it's what Nails said...
