If you drink enough beers and stare into the stands for long enough, what do you see?  I was thinking the programmers may have been ahead of their time and could be using the stands as one of those 3-d image thingamajigs.  I'm gonna get to the bottom of this.  Try it out.

I heard that if you turn off the volume of an RBI, press reset, and play Pink Floyd's dark side of the moon right when the first pitch is being thrown in the cpu vs. cpu game, the music and the game match up.
