Baines--now we're fucking talking!  If the team is going to suck ass anyway, why not go for entertainment??  If you are the Detriot Tigers why NOT sign Rickey?  or Tampa Bay?  

By the way, my favorite all-time Baines moment is his sheer refusal to have a fair well celebration on the last game of whatever season was his last (2001?) because he insisted he would return for another season.  oops.  There isn't much demand for a slow DH who hits under .200 with limited power.

I did get to see him play against Seattle in his farewell season--man did he suck by then.  Gotta love Baines for his longevity, though.

The ageless wonder baby!!!  That's how I ended up being a Baines fan, basically because he was around forever and was still someone you never really heard much about.  I went to a ChiSox-Orioles game during his last season and of course he sat that game, then managed to go 3-4 with a HR the next day.  I was pretty pissed at the time but I did at least get to see him take BP which I guess is better than nothing.

One time my brother met one of the 1983 White Sox pitchers, I belive it was Floyd Bannister or Richard Dotson.  Anyway, they had a couple drinks together and started talking baseball.  My brother asked him who was the biggest jerk that you played with?

The answer...   "Without a doubt, Rickey Henderson"
