I just recently got hit blindside with the classic gaming bug (possibly King of Kong inspired). I've been scouring the DFW area for arcades with classic games, and I've bought lots of classic collection games for current consoles (Activision, Namco games for PS2 and PSP).

I recently purchased an NES clone that plays NES and SNES games, mainly to play Tecmo Super Bowl and Double Dribble and NBA Jam for SNES. While trying to remember some NES games in the past that got heavy rotation in my youth, I remembered the greatness of RBI Baseball.

Our friends would do battle in tournaments for hours and hours. We all had our favorite teams, players and strategy. Only Tecmo Bowl rivaled RBI in terms of lasting power. Then at home, playing alone I would keep box scores of my games. I loved playing as the NL All-Stars (it's fun to kill the opponent), mainly due to my intense love of Mike Schmidt. As soon as I remembered the game's name, the song got stuck in my head. I just ordered the game and it will be sent to me soon. I cannot wait.

Then I discovered this site, which has great info and is entertaining to boot. Thank you, Dee-Nee Gods, for this creation.

While reading through the glitches portion of the website, I remembered one that we came across. It has to do with the floating pitcher. Well, one time the pitcher floated all the way down to near the batter. The tiny pitcher was standing about half an inch in front of home plate, but still aligned enough to throw pitches. He was unhittable. We laughed our asses off.

Anywho, bravo on the website.

Congrats on re-living your youth and also finding this site.  You need to download Nestopia so u can play against people over the internet.  I played a couple games last night and for the most part went great.  Still amazed that I can play RBI baseball for NES against someone online.  PS3 what???
If u download that emulator I would be down for some Tecmo Super Bowl also......

I will say that part of my "going back" to games of my youth have to do with the somewhat sad state of current games.

I dished out megabucks for my PS3, mainly for Madden, which has great replay value, but other than that there's not much else to keep my attention. I'm playing Galaga and Dig Dug on my freaking $500 PS3! All the games I got for my PSP were horrible, until I found the Activision and Namco collections. So I play Seaquest, Tempest, Dig Dug and Galaga on my $200 PSP!

There are some current games out there that I love, like God of War but mainly Call of Duty 4...CoD2 and 4 are Awesometown.

I haven't gotten into the PC emulation MAME stuff just yet, but probably will soon enough. I need to sharpen up on my RBI skills a while before going online so I don't have my ass handed to me over and over again.

Welcome Rhinosaur and thanks for posting!  Always good to see RBI coming back into the lives of long time gamers, because it's just as fun as it was 20 years ago.   Once you get some games under your belt, I highly recommend you find a buddy or do some online gaming, as RBI doesn't hold up terribly well in one player mode.

Regarding the "floating pitcher" glitch, I'm not sure if you saw it on the glossary but we had it there under the mini pitcher glitch.  Here is a pic someone sent in:

Thanks again for signing up and feel free to post any questions and comments you have.  The RBI Board tends to stagnate at times compared to the Anything Goes board, so any new blood in here is most welcome!
