Love For Rob Wilfong?

I apologize if this is a double entry or already been talked about, but do any of you RBI'ers out there root for Wilfong or bring him in instead of Pettis?

Like Gantry mentioned about "family friends," Wilfong by far lately has been my family friend. Recently I played a game with California against the Mets and subbed The Wil in for Pettis. Wilfong started with a leadoff double in which he eventually scored home. Second time up, nice RBI single. Third time up, another double...and Reggie Jackson boomed it for a 3 run homer a bit later. Finally Wilfong got another single and proved to be the winning run yet again. 11-10. Reggie Jackson got the final out, therefore sharing MVP Honors.

Anyone have awesome Wilfong stories or tidbits? He's definitely become very awesome lately, just wanted to share my RBI love with you hardcore fans.

I definitely approve of Rob Wilfong.  I typically will sub in Wilfong for Pettis, Jones for Grich, and Hendrick for Boone.  Then, I leave Burleson for late game heroics.  Ca has the best bench in the game (top to bottom), All-Stars included imo.

Sometimes, I will put Ruppert Jones in for Pettis instead of Wilfong.  In that scenario, Wilfong goes in for Grich.  It is a win either way!  Usually it depends on it I want to try to get more AB's for Ruppert.

Sometimes I give Pettis one at-bat, mainly because I want Wilfong to be playing with a chip on his shoulder when he finally does get a chance. Also, it's intimidating when the other player knows that Wilfong is sitting on the bench, waiting for his chance to strike.

In BPS, I always put Jones at leadoff (to maximize his ABs).

In ATG, I will let Pettis bat once or twice as the pitcher is at full stamina.  I likely won't get good wood on the ball anyway, and I can at least use Pettis to eat some pitches.
I always hate to waste a pinch hitter bonus when there is a fresh pitcher or nobody in scoring position.  At that point it all depends on the situation to what pinch hitter I will use.

I've been using Wilfong mainly as the leadoff hitter. Is there a major difference in his bat prowess if he's in a different part of the lineup (obviously not #4, why take out Potatoes?)

No, I think leadoff is fine.
It's just if I am playing ATG against someone good, I hate to waste his PH bonus when the pitcher is his freshest, and there is nobody on base.
If you are not playing against someone with great fielding skills, Pettis' lack of power is perfect for hitting a slow grounder to the left side of the field and beating out an IF single.  Try to hit the ball toward LF off the end of the bat (to make sure least power as possible).
