What the hell causes this error to occur and is there a way to prevent/cure it?

Scroope and I just tried to play and both got this error on both starmen and dee-nee...and I just got done playing Ryno without any issue...wtf?

Yeah... what the hell is this.... Ive never goten to play online RBI before... scroope and I were setting up a game and it wouldnt work for shit.....   I got all fired up about online RBI now i gotta go play here to feed my craving.    HELP Please... i need to pop my online RBI cherry.

For some fucking reason I can't find the previous thread via search.  Have you tried the following?

Different ROM
Changing usernames
Switching who is user1 & user2

Tried those things.  Don't seem to work.

Played a game with Noah today.  Error showed up, but game worked. I don't know what is going on.

Game went 11 innings and then i blew it. Good game.

I think I found a solution.  Make sure you close all programs including MSN IM and AOL IM.

Let me know if it still comes up Scroope.  Hard to see a correlation between IM programs and this erro, but if it works it works...

My friend would get that error on his laptop.  When he switched tho his desktop the error stopped.  THat might have something to do with it.

I only have this problem with Briznock now.  With everything else closed too.  I have played over 20 games with at least 10 different people.
