Lipitz likes to keep Pettis even though he never does anything with him.  I'm wondering how many of you actually give ol' GP an AB or two...

He had his chances years ago, and really sucked. I will take his ass out right away. Screw him!
You're going down, chainsaw.

GP, are you wit' me?

YES!!!!!!!!!!
RBI isn't just a game, it's a lifestyle...

I usually keep him in because of his speed.  I'll take him out in the late innings if i need a spark off the bench.  I think since its been confirmed that pinch hitters are better in their 1st at bat that it's sometimes more strategic to bring them in in the later innings.

pettis might get playing time on another team.  However, when you look at the guys cali has on its bench, GP doesn't have a chance.  the way i see it,  rupert rakes so he has to lead off and get the most at bats.  schofield and boone must also sit in place of hendrick and wilfong.

if pettis played for houston id consider giving him some at bats.
Strange things are afoot at the Circle K

schofeld isnt bad, i always keep him in.  boone is horrible
i give pettis 1 chance no matter what, if he gets on or doesnt.  either way hes really fast and can get around the bases.
i do burleson for pettis, hendrick for grich, jones for boone

GPines

Pettis never plays, Jones is a must at the leadoff spot, I like to put Jones, Hendrick and Wilfong in the game, which means no time for Pettis, Boone, and Grich.

Since we have been keeping stats Ruppert is 11th in the league in homers, and Hendrick is 6th in HR's.

Hendrick is the man!!

I find no reason to let Pettis play when there are 4 guys better than him on the bench.  He may be fast, but charging the ball and a good throw will get him at first, and u cant steal second because throwing the ball on the ground to second will get anyone.

I agree with what everyone says, and it was a good poll.  I always put Wilfong in at the first spot, though perhaps I should Ruppert a go there since he is a better player.  It would be nice to do something different with Cali, since I've been playing the same way with them for about 5 years now...

After he gets out in the first 3 AB's, i will usually substitute for him.  Every once in awhile he will get on base and you can usually be on 2nd in the next pitch.  A single gets him home, but if nothing happens early on, he is gone!
