Question to all:
Which is better, RBI NES or RBI Arcade?

You're going down, chainsaw.

I've never played RBI Arcade except on emulators, but still I think RBI NES is better because it has more of my favorite players from my youth.  Also the inclusion of Blings (Bops) in NES is key.

Definitely the NES version...  No BOPs, ties after 9 innings and no last wraps on slaughters in the arcade...

The best of both worlds is to use nightwulf's NES/arcade ROM where he entered in the arcade data using a NES ROM.  That way you get the players but none of the arcade drawbacks...

nes version.  i do like the arcade, how it has the best players of all time in it, and it has the cubs, but if i had the arcade (which i dont) i would find it more fun to play on a controller and tv instead of using a big joystick, etc.

That is why I mentioned the ROM that nightwulf made.  He put the exact same stats from the arcade into the NES rom.  Of course this would be playing on your PC, but the NES ROM altered with the arcade stats is the best of both worlds...

yeah, see i would rather play with a controller than a keyboard.

I hear ya, but there are a few thing you can do to liven up your RBI experience on the CPU...

At the very least, spend $20 and get a USB joypad of some kind.  I'm not an expert on them, but I have a run-of-the-mill gravis usb and it works great....

I also have my computer (well, one of them) output its video directly to the TV via SVideo.  Playing RBI in full-screen mode looks pretty close to the actual NES, especially with a controller...

NES.  I have very little experience with the Arcade Version.  However, NES takes the cake in my opinion.  I grew up on it!

Actually that ROM I made needs serious adjusting. When playing the game in MAME the colors I saw were very different, so I made the colors of "my" arcade ROM match what I saw in MAME. Oops. After taking a deeper look at the arcade ROM, the colors should be identical to what you see on the NES. MAME uses an incorrect VS Unisystem palette. I'll make an updated version shortly.

Edit: Now I'm not totally sure. I need to browse the arcade ROM some more. In any rate, here's two arcade ROMs:
rbi_arcade.zip - this is the NES engine, but all teams have been replaced with the colors / stats / icons of the arcade teams. Updated so that field colors are back as the NES original.
rbibb.zip - This is the actual arcade ROM, converted into the .NES format. You'll need an emulator that can handle VS Unisystem ROMs to use this. Note that while it loads in a few emulators, the only one I've found which can play it well is Nester.

Anyone out there still own a Dreamcast? It was a great system; still love mine. Anyway, the NES emulator Nester has been ported to Dreamcast. I made a disc with the original and "my" arcade ROMs, and several of the ROMs from dee-nee burned to it. No, it's not quite the same as playing on an actual NES, but at least you get to use console controllers (I hate PC controllers; they all suck) and play in front of the TV. Nester is (imo) one of the best NES emulators these days. It doesn't handle every game perfectly, but I'd say compatibility is over 95%, and RBI has always emulated perfectly.

If anyone has any interest, I'll throw together a disc image with the emulator and throw the RBI ROMs on it.

I would be interested, I think Lips has his dreamcast stashed away somewhere.  What's one more a/v device to hook up?

I still have my Dreamcast.  I just pulled it out of the basement 1.5 weeks ago.  Started playing NFL2K again.  It is dusty and needs to be cleaned but it works.
