The Thundercats and The Hoggs got Week 3 underway before schedule.  The Hoggs were idle for a few days after sweeping Nails, while The Thundercats barely had time to take a shit (literally)...after beating Stock, 2-1.  The Hoggs were looking to improve on their (3-3) record, while The Thundercats wanted to get that sour taste out of their mouth...after getting slaughted in Game 3 to Stock.

Game 1 was a back-and-forth game.  The Thundercats prevailed in 9 innings by the score of 6-5, putting an end to The Hoggs 3-game win streak.  The game saw Bergman's first homer in the straight pitch league, in a key late inning at-bat.

The Homers...

The Hoggs:
Murphy 1
Carter 2
Knight 1

The Thundercats:
Sheridan 1
Pendleton 1
Gedman 1
Bergman 1

After Game 1 finished, The Hoggs' GM Ryno23 called out Raines for his very poor play in the first game.  Ryno23 was so furious with Raines' play that he told teammate Kruk that he'd be getting an early birthday present if Raines didn't show up: a second nut.

Would Raines deliver in Game 2?

Dee-Nee!!  But Dah-Nah for The Thundercats.  Their offense couldn't put together the homers.  The Thundercats ended up leaving 6-7 men on base, in key situations.  The popups killed this team once again (like it did in Game 3 versus Stock).  And when Raines lead off the game with a jack, The Thundercats just couldn't fight back.  Raines ended up hitting another homer, later in the game...leading The Hoggs to victory, 5-2.

Homers...

The Hoggs:
Raines 2
Gibson 1
Murphy 1

The Thundercats:
Gedman 1

Game 3 recap to shortly follow...

Ahhh, the rubber match.  Game 3 was a pretty important game for both squads.  The Hoggs were looking to get to (5-4) and a game over .500, while The Thundercats wanted to win their third straight series.

Reggie tried to put The Thundercats on his back and take them as far as he could go.  Reggie, like Raines did for The Hoggs in Game 2, was looking to have a big game and hopefully get The Thundercats their third straight series' win.

The game started off on a high note for The Thundercats; Potatoes launched a huge 3-run bomb to start the game.  But The Hoggs wouldn't fold, they came back with a 2-run first inning of their own.  The second and third innings saw the two clubs trade 1-run innings, before The Hoggs belted 2 more runs in the fourth, to bring the game to a 5-4 lead.  But that lead disappeared by the end of the fifth when the two teams were knotted at 5.  During that stretch, Reggie hit another jack to give him 4 RBIs.

And then came the deciding inning.  The Thundercats lead off the top half of the 6th inning with one run, to take a 6-5 lead.  But going into the bottom of the 6th inning,  Dewey Evans launched the go-ahead homer, to take an 8-6 lead...a lead that The Hoggs would not relinquish.

The Hoggs pitching staff finished off strongly, not letting up a run in the final three innings.  The Hoggs won 8-6, to take the series (2-1).

Homers...

The Hoggs:
Raines 1
Murphy 2
DwEvans 2

The Thundercats:
Leonard 1
Jackson 2
Santiago 1

After the game, The Thundercats' GM Lipitz was seen scolding his ball players.  The Thundercats looked pretty beat...after a long 2-series, 6-game night.  But The Thundercats GM wouldn't let them use that as an excuse for their failure to win the crucial Game 3.

Lipitz noted, "If we show up to Week 4 looking like we did tonight (in the final three innings of Game 3), we will definitely get swept by Gantry....bringing a once (5-0) squad to (6-6).  But fortunately for The Thundercats, we have some time to correct the problems.  We need to get back to the fundamentals: homers, homers, homers and good pitching."

Well, there you have it.

Ryno23

The Hoggs manager, ryno23, was quoted as saying:

"See folks.  When you play your cards right, you end up facing a team who's manager has to take a huge shit.  That's when you're able to put screws to a team and show 'em who's boss.  Otherwise, you end up getting your ass kicked like we normally do."

In other new, Cal Ripken has petitioned the state of Maryland to have his name officially changed to Kelly Ripken.  This comes following the sex change operation performed by Ripken's manager.

Looks like I was lucky to play Ryno EARLY in the season while he was still warming up!

I should have played you last night, BEFORE you got your new and improved line-up.  I was in a hotel in Cleveland last night and was too lazy to go thru the dial up procedures with my laptop.  I will be home tonite.  If you see me logged on, send me a pm.

#10
Stock/Nails have wrapped up their 3 game week 3 series.  Although the first 2 games were very close, team stock's bats were just too much in game 3 to avoid the sweep.  Nails' new acquisitions were somewhat cold in the series with only a homer a piece b/w Gibson and Ripken.  Stock's new aquisition Larkin was 0-4.  Sullivan (who was released for Larking), was seen giggling like a school girl in Japan after hearing the news, after hitting 6 homers the previous night in Japan.
Here are the results of our series:

Game 1:
Stock wins 7 - 5.
Stock Homers:  Armas, Decincs 2, and DaEvns.
Nails Homers:  Hndrsn, Whitkr, Ripken, Teuffl, and T.Herr.

Game 2:  Stock wins 4 - 2.
Stock Homers:  DaEvns, Laudnr, Armas, and Bruno.
Nails had 0 homers.

Game 3:  Stock wins 13 - 6.
Stock Homers:  Keith Hernandez, Bruno 2, Mldndo, DaEvns, DCincs, Boone, and Grich.
Nails Homers:  CDavis, Henderson 2, Lopes, and Gibson.

Baines and I got two games done in our three game series:

Game 1:

Poopybutts - 6
Parish State - 2

Poopybutts HRs for Canseco, Schmidt, Lindeman and Strawberry
Parish HRs for Brookens and Geena Davis

Game 2

Poopybutts - 16
Parish State - 9

Poopybutts HRs - Clark, Strawberry x2, Nokes, Schmidt, Canseco, Lindeman and a clutch PH dinger for Big Stud Joel Youngblood.

Parish State HRs - Baylor x2, Geena Davis x2, Eric Davis

Recap - Baines had an 8-7 lead after 5 IIRC and was playing much stronger than in game one.  Eric Davis gets a HUGE 3 run dinger with Eric Davis off the lights-out Scott Garrelts to take that lead.  Coach Zettler was none too happy with Garrelts letting that 2-strike slowball cross the plate, rumor has it he may bench the overworked reliever next game.  The Poopybutts get 7 runs in the 7th innings after a few fielding blunders by Parish State.  After that they coulnd't recover and the Poopybutts win big...

We still have one game to go, ran out of time for tonight.  Also have my week2 series to play with Noah, but it's a start.

I love Joel Youngblood...

Baines - Check the dingers in game 2, not sure if Baylor got your first one.  Shit, Geena Davis may have had 3 in that game!

Baines

I had the homers the same for game 2 but for game 1 I had Baylor instead of Geena.

I can play some games if you're around tonight.  Got friends coming into town and 3 beers under my belt already so I'm all about some drunken online RBI.

For that matter if anybody wants to play tonight let me know on here or AIM: flashy johnson

Baines may have hit a homer with Baines, yelled Baines and immediately changed into a Baines jersey.

You know who's the best? Baines...

I just played 4 online games with a friend.  I used the dee-nee server, and the lag was pretty good.  Feel free to finish your week 2/3 games. 8)
