Anything goes, curve style pitching!
the first would be to rank em for a standard 3 game set where you cannot use a starter in back to back games.

and also rank the staffs in an anything goes styled cotut environment where you just have to use a team for 1 game (so thats means a solid 2 starters and some good bull pen)......if u feel there aint no difference in the 2styles then just rank em and say so.

looks like there might be some rbi play soon on the horizon here, and i need to get back in the groove.

*edit*...which is more important to yah, picking a team based on offense or pitching?

Offense or pitching is a tough call.  Here is my rank for 1 SP per game rotating series, note this takes bullpens into account (and not All-Star teams since I don't use them enough) NOTE: Curve pitching

1. Minnesota

2. SF
3. NY
4. Hou
5. Stl

6. Bos
7. Ca
8. Det

IMO Minnesota is best by far, Blyleven is that good for 1 SP.
2-5 are close depending on what type of pitching you like, Hou can easily be 2, so could NY or Stl for some.

6-7-8 all have not so good bullpens.  Clemens is really all there is for Bo, Sutton and Witt are both decent but their bullpen is horrible.  Detroit starters are both mediocre with a mediocre bullpen.

I like how Ultimate grouped his pitchers.  I will do the same.  Teams I have in the same group could be moved around depending on mood or how they did the last time I used them:

1.  Ho
2.  Na
2.  Mn
2.  NY
5.  SL
5.  Bo
7.  Am
7.  Dt
9.  SF
10. Ca

1.  Ho (has by far the best pitching staff.  Ryan/Scott are 2 of the top 5 pitchers on the game, and have good stamina.  With this duo, you have a kick ass starter for 2 straight games.  Or if you play tourney rules, you don't even need a reliever as ryan/scott can usually go the distance.  Then they have a goofy sidearm guy just to throw you off for a solid 3-4 outs.

2-4.  Na, MN, and NY have equal staffs.  Na has too good starters and a funky sidearm releiver.  MN has the Blylevn/Smoke combo, and NY has the Doc/McDowl combo with a funky sidearmer to boot.

5-6.  SL and Bo are pretty close too.  I ranked SL first just because I believe they have a better ballance. Plus there are not many good lefty starters on the game, and SL has one. Clemens is the only reason I have Bo ranked this high.  He can usually go a solid 4-5 innings.  Then you have 3 guys to go ~5 outs a piece.  In ("no same starter in back to back games.. Bo probably drops to 7 or 8 since Hurst sucks ass).

7-8.  Am and Dt come next.  This is all close.  Hernandez may be the best reliever on the game.    Am is just average or slightly below all the way down the line.  Push Am down to  9 in "no same starter in back to back games".  Like Hurst, Jimmy Key is ass.

9.  Everybody will disagree with me but I suck with SF.  Krokow is ok but I can never shut anyone down with him.  I know other people love Krukow, but i just cannot work it with him.  Plus, I don't like the rest of the rotation and no lefties.

10.  No doubt about this.  Ca's pitching staff blows ass.

These rankings are for anything goes pitching rules.  You cannot pick a team based solely on pitching or offense.  Ie.. I would never pick Ho in a meaningful game.  I think Bo and Na are probably the best 2 teams in "anything goes" just because they have the best mix b/w off and Def.

In straight pitch, it does not matter (since the way I play straight pitch is "meat balls" or "batting practice"--every ball goes down the middle w/o fastballs or sinkers.)

EDIT:  Bumped NY up a few spots after further review.

You are right.  I forgot about the Doc/Mac combo.  Moved them up to "2-4".

Yeah, I know.  But that doesn't make much sense, considering the way I responded.

I would, but those good-for-nothing-piece-of-shit straight pitch players would probably agree with the rankings.  :-\

Question: should straight pitch players be treated like humans?  Discuss.
