I know it not many play the Arcade version, but anyway....

The tie sucks, and I'm not a fan of no BOPs plus I wish I could turn on the machine and put on Watch Mode.

Has someone used Nightwulf's editor to recreate the NES ROM with all the Arcade version stats, players, etc...?
I would be willing to do this, if there was enough demand.

I voted for the "no fair ups on the 10-run rule".  Since I usually only play straight pitch (batting practice), 10 runs is very easy to come back from.
Although, the thing I hate the most us using the Arcade joystick/buttons.  I am much better with an NES controller.

Good point about the joystick, I'll add to the poll

The Arcade ROM is on Nightwulfs editor, but there is no link on Dee-Nee to the ROM on the ROMs page (only the MAME version), maybe it should be added

Is it an "Arcade" ROM.  Or is it the regular NES ROM edited with the arcade players?

It is a .nes file, so it plays like the NES game but with the Arcade players.

The MAME version on Dee-Nee is the full arcade version.

Another difference, with a similar effect to the 10-run rule - if the computer takes the lead at any point in a 1-player game, the game is over.  That really sucks if you have a bad first inning against a big-hitting computer team.

The joystick will get my vote, I think - after years of console gaming, my joystick skills are pretty weak.

This should really be in the FAQ, or explained on the ROMs page, or something. Here's arcade ROMs explained ...

  • RBI-Arcade.zip
This is the actual arcade ROM, in MAME (.prg and .chr) format. Run it using MAME.

  • rbibb.zip
This is also the actual arcade ROM, in iNES (.nes) format. Most NES emulators these days can handle Vs. Unisystem ROMs, though some handle them much better than others. The only emulator I've found that can run this ROM perfectly is FCEU. So again, this is the actual arcade ROM, identical to the one which runs in MAME. It's just in a different format so that it can be run in NES emulators instead of MAME.

  • rbi_arcade.zip
This is the NES ROM, with arcade player data substituted in. The "enable long [attract mode] team names" hack is on, and error probability for all teams is set to zero, to make this a little more like the arcade. This is exactly what you'd get by loading "default arcade data" in my editor and downloading it. This is the NES game engine instead of the arcade engine, so it's not exactly the same game. There are also a number of cosmetic differences (the licensing strings, the "Inning" tiles, etc.) which won't effect gameplay, but if anyone's interested, I could make it look a little better.

Why do you always sign your posts, nightwulf?  Are you unaware that the originator of each post is listed in the upper lefthand corner of said post? ???

If you were to write me a letter and (snail-)mail it to me, would you sign it even though I could look at the return address on the envelope?

There's a special key for "Insert Coin." The only docs I still have around are for FCEU 0.98.10, in which F8 is the coin key. Failing that, play around ... I know 'C' is used in some emulators.

I agree, well done.  Added all three versions to the ROM page, in a separate section with their descriptions.  Let me know if this makes sense folks, as I'm a bit grammatically challenged this evening:

That's not nearly as funny as me crying to my wife, saying "that machine took my money. . . . "
