I think 145 being the fastest is about right for 2000, considering Coleman/Brock were stealing over 100 bases a year.

Also though, you have to think about coaches IQs rising and catchers arms are much stronger than in Brocks era.. but i get the point

Good point. Coaches in the 1960s were fucking idiots compared to Dusty Baker today....

I'd have to disagree completely.  How can a managers IQ go up when he has two, three or even four guys hitting 30-40 bombs a year on his team.  Like Earl Weaver said, just let them big motherfuckers go up there and knock the ball out of the park.

Also, when the DH wasn't always around. The AL is far easier to manage.

I think the speed was fine.  Did Knoblauch and Durham steal 100 bases.  Nope.  Because they never really had to and were never really asked to.

I'm going to take your NES controller and jam it so far up your ass that you'll need to learn how to work the 'A' button with your small intestine.

It means they have less of a reason to steal bases.  Look at Mickey Mantle - before his knees went, he was universally acknowledged as one of, if not the, fastest player(s) in the game.  Once he started getting hurt, it wasn't worth it for him to try to steal bases, as the risk of injury was just too great given everything else he brought to the table.

Since SBs are one of the only decent proxies for speed, it makes it kind of tough to measure.

You're like the annoying little retard down the street that asks me to look at the giant spit bubbles he can blow.
