I'm fearful to get into "Infield fly rule" territory here.

But, maybe RBI didn't allow the infield fly rule, but as far as I'm concerned, they also intended RBI to be played more than one game at a time. Therefore allowing for only two starters per two games (I put it this way, because many a game I've used two relievers followed by two starters in a crucial situation)

So, what say you?

Gantry

Absolutely should be reset...  If you want to use one starter, then enforce it before you start.  But forcing to play two games in a row with the same teams seems silly to me...

I think it can be both.  If you want to play a best of 3/5/7/45 playoff-style series with 2 teams, then don't reset.  However, if you want to play a series where you pick new teams each time, then reset away.  Thus, I vote yes or no.

Also, I've never understood why many people are so vehemently against using 2 starters per game.  The "realism" argument doesn't wash with me as there are a lot more than 2 dudes in the bullpen during a real game.  There is the argument that the game doesn't allow you to do it during a series, but you can always tank a game 6 with a reliever and have both starters for game 7.

Only if you are winning the series 3-2.

I think the realism comes in where you have the SP pitch 6-7 inn, Relievers pitch 1-2 each, instead of 4 3 1 1, not saying it's the only way to play, but that's the argument.

Also, you buy stocks low, and sell them high.

I grew up playing series style, like Attezz said - me and my RBI buddy would each pick a team, and we'd play a 7-game series with them without resetting.  I still think of 1 SP as a more "pure" version of the game because of that.

There's also so much more strategy with a series style. Do you let your pitcher go a few extra batters knowing that he's already done because he's due up and you've got a PH on the bench?

I figured there'd be a list of different strategy decisions, but I guess that's all I could think of for now.

I burn my relievers early all the time, I generally start with a reliever and if I get out to a lead (not often) I just stick with them and do my best to prevent wasting a starter in a game that's already locked up. There, now Beejay's post is worthless!

Agree w/ gantry here.  This should be agreed on before any game on what the house rules are.  If you wish to play 1 starter per game, then just enforce that before any game.

The only rule we had was that the loser was beer bitch b/w games and the "reset" bitch.

I said it once and I'll say it again - stock is smart

i say no reset.  that's how we roll.  if you are going to play a series, then you should have to use the strategy of managing a "rotation" as well.

plus it makes it interesting when games get into extra innings - do you use your 2nd starter or let Ken Dayley start his fifth inning of work?  Then you get some interesting games...like the time I six hit Nacho and threw a complete game with Charlie Kerfeld.  that was awesome.

well id say in a series between the same 2 teams no resetting.  but thats how we play here, when we use this style.  we use 1 sp (sometimes  2 if you wanna win a game and basically forfiret the next cause u only have 2 relievers)

the only other way i play is cotut style different teams for each game use all 4 pitchers.  and thats resetting obviously cause your next game is between different teams.
