The last two games fucking suck, so don't vote for them, they are only included so I could have eight examples.

Glassjoe

i voted baseball stars because it was ahead of its time in regard to being able to create/rename players.

Anybody know what I'm talkin' about when I ask:

"What is it?"

Vitb6

I would say that Baseball Stars is better then RBI.  But don't tell anyone I said that.

erhajj

I loved baseball stars for the fact that you could edit player names and abilities.  I used to have a forumla for the rankings and I think for the power one the only two players who had a 15 in power were McGwire and Ruth.  I am sure that Bonds and maybe sosa would join them now.
Baseball stars all the way.  does anyone know of a baseball stars website?

erhajj

As for PC games I think that the best would be High heat.  Most realistic as far as numbers.

That's fucked up!!!

Baseball stars was great for many reasons:

1. Computer could actually beat you (depending on teams)
2. Create team/win money/make team better
3. Change team & player names
4. League play with multiple players
5. Stats
6. Diving
7. Girls!
8. Silly teams (a horror monster team & a softball team)?
9. You can FIRE players!
10. The greatest reason of all - you can rob a home run then talk shiat about it!

For sure.  But it's no RBI.  That's just silly talk!  :P

Ditto. I loved Baseball Stars too, but if I had to choose between the two, RBI all the way.

Honestly, I think that I would choose baseball stars.

Hey, where's Baseball Simulator 1.000?  That beats at least half the games on the list.  It's even old-school NES, plus the graphics are a lot like RBI.  Of course, Baseball Stars is great, for all the reasons MarquisEXB mentioned, and it got my vote without a second thought.

I've actually been playing a lot of Griffey lately, though - I just got an exercise bike, and my NES isn't working right now, which means that I'm limited to the SNES if I want to play a game while I ride.  The computer is a good challenge in that game, but I wish the gameplay was more RBI-like.  What we need is an RBI with a good computer opponend.  RBI 3 had a "hard" difficulty setting, but it's still not much of a challenge.

I voted for World Series just because I played that more then any other baseball series growing up.

Also, If any of you would like to make your own version of KGJr baseball, and editor can be found here:

Im also debating which of the new titles to buy. For the longest time it was down to MVP and ESPN. I had World Series last year, and it looks like ESPN is going to be the same game with a new title....

Im not a 989 sports fan, but some of the features on MLB 2005 has me intrigued.

Well, one actually. Career mode.  I guess you can use "eye toy" to load your face onto your player. Then you start in the minors, and work your way through a career. Teams can sign, trade, and release you. You go through a "spring training" to determine your worth.  Im guessing you play as the team that your player plays on, not just your player, but I dont know that for sure.  You also have to set 10 personal goals before each season, and try to accomplish them.  I like the idea of a version of "franchise" mode, where your playing revolves around a player, instead of an entire franchise. I like the idea, of signing with a new team, or being traded, and/or working your way up from single A ball.

What do you guys think?

me and my friends will be considering the new addittion to our baseball collection soon, (all titles release in march).  unfortunately with the demise of 3do "high Heat" will be gone i guess.

we are anxious to see sega's espn baseball offering.

as far as best non-rbi game i would have to go with badnews baseball.... you rommers are going to have to check this game out, it is seriously the 2nd best baseball game.... look and playablity are identical to rbi but there is a 20 man roster... would love to have an editor for this badboy!

I voted for Baseball Stars, because it and RBI are my most beloved NES games.  I agree that robbing the Home Run is one of the ultimate thrills in 8-bit entertainment!  I would like to give a special nomination to Dusty Diamond's All Star Softball as well.  I loved that game!  I know it's not baseball, but close.

erhajj

thanks for the baseballstars link.

RBI, baseball stars, and temco superbowl were my favorite NES games ever.

Baseball Simulator 1000.  The gameplay is very, very similar to RBI and you could save a 150-game season, complete with individual player statistics.  Bloody incredible.
I don't know what I'm doing.
