Gantry

Today is the day, the redo of the 2003 RBI Tournament. The first attempt ended up in a three way tie and this time we're playing until somebody drops. Or we tie again...

We're supposed to start in 5 minutes, but Potsie isn't up, Jason isn't here and we don't have beer. My guess is that we'll get going around 1pm Central time. Check this thread for all relevant updates.

Gantry

Well, we got beer and Jason.  Potsie just got up and we're having our final meals.  Things should get going around 1:45 or so...

Lips

The brackets are set.  Dee-Nee!!!!

Here they are...

Round 1:
Gantry vs. Jamie
Jason vs. Potsie

Round 2:
Potsie vs. Gantry
Jamie vs. Jason

Round 3:
Jamie vs. Potsie
Jason vs. Gantry
RBI isn't just a game, it's a lifestyle...

Gantry

One down, five to go...

Gantry (Det) - 23, 14 HRs
Lips (Ca) - 10, 9 HRs

Eight inning slaughter, HUGE!!!  Lipitz was definitely struggling, the time off hurt him.  Getting a slaughter (key in tiebreakers) is very big...

Potsie and Jason playing now.  Dee-Nee!!!

Gantry

Another game, another slaughter:

Potsie (Ca) - 15, 8 HRs
Jason (Det) - 5, 5HRs

Six inning slaughter, big leads for the big two.  Standings:

Gantry 1-0, 1 Slaughter, 23 Runs
Potsie 1-0, 1 Slaughter, 15 Runs
Lips 0-1, 10 Runs
Jason 0-1, 5 Runs

Game two of Gantry and Lipitz on now...

Lips

Big game!!!!  Gantry chose to play with Boston, which was a surprise.  I was cool with that.  Anyways, here's the line:

Gantry (Bo) - 15, 12 homers
Lipitz (Det) - 18, 12 homers

Here's the rundown of the standings:
Potsie (1-0), 1 Slaughter, 15 Runs
Gantry (1-1), 1 Slaughter, 38 Runs
Lipitz (1-1), 0 Slaughters, 28 Runs
Jason (0-1), 0 Slaughters, 5 Runs
RBI isn't just a game, it's a lifestyle...

I'm guessing straight pitch.

I'm surprised Gantry lost with Boston.

Also why not use RS-RA for the tiebreaker?

I was trying to initiate someone into RBI last night. Lots of forfeit games, but lots of fun had by all. (I gave him Am or Na & took Hou - I was doing straight pitch - won every game - none went the distance.)

Gantry

I never play with Boston, but I've been slumping with lefties.  Big mistake obviously...

Slaughters is the biggest sign of dominance in a game of RBI.  A one inning 10-0 slaughter shows way more dominance than a 25-16 victory.  It's the pin of RBI...

Lips

Potsie just put Jason away.  That's pretty huge at this point.  Here's the line...

Jason (Ca) - 18, 14 homers
Potsie (Det) - 19, 13 homers

Here's the rundown of the standings:
Potsie (2-0), 1 Slaughter, 34 Runs
Gantry (1-1), 1 Slaughter, 38 Runs
Lipitz (1-1), 0 Slaughters, 28 Runs
Jason (0-2), 0 Slaughters, 23 Runs
RBI isn't just a game, it's a lifestyle...

Gantry

This is Jason.  Well the biggest mistake of the tourney thus far by me was not passing on team selection for the first game.  I took Detroit and had 5 hits (all solo HR's).  I have played 1 normal game of RBI and about 20 games of speed RBI since the last tourney abotut 4 weeks ago.  WHOOPS.  I suck right now.  I can't hit with anyone.  I made about 3 base runners errors in my 2nd loss to Potsie which cost me at least 2 runs.  However, I did hit 2 BLACK THING homers in the same inning and it took me 13 innings to get my first non-homer hit.  Not good.  Oh well.  I've been told Stehling wn the tourney after getting swept in the first round.  So history is on my side, but my lack of playing non speed-pitch RBI is showing.  :-(

Huge game for Pots.

Gantry (Ca) 17, 14 Homers
Potsie (Det) 18, 13 Homers

Here's the rundown of the standings:
Potsie (3-0), 1 Slaughter, 52 Runs
Lipitz (1-1), 0 Slaughters, 28 Runs
Gantry (1-2), 1 Slaughter, 55 Runs
Jason (0-2), 0 Slaughters, 23 Runs
RBI isn't just a game, it's a lifestyle...

Gantry

Just to add the bitter commentary...

Potsie got four in the bottom of the 9th to win 18-17, who did I bring in?  Donnie Moore.  Pitcher hit followed by a 3 run dinger by Bergman, who Potsie put in for Trammel.   Excellent managerial skills by Mr. Miller there, he gets props for that...

Gotta win the next game, that's all there is to it...

Lips

I finally played a nice game.  Big runs, quickly!!!!  I got the slaughter over Jason.  I still control my destiny, as long as I win out.  A Potsie victory over Gantry right now will definitely help, though.  Here's the line...

Jamie (Det) 13, 11 Homers
Jason (Ca) 3, 3 Homers

Here's the rundown of the standings:
Potsie (3-0), 1 Slaughter, 52 Runs
Lipitz (2-1), 1 Slaughters, 41 Runs
Gantry (1-2), 1 Slaughter, 55 Runs
Jason (0-3), 0 Slaughters, 26 Runs
RBI isn't just a game, it's a lifestyle...

MarquisEXB

Donnie Moore sucks. So does Willie (Guilermo) Hernandez. I can't put them in for the 9th inning.

I play anything goes pitching, so I don't get any "slaughters" against people that know what they are doing.

Keep the updates coming.

Gantry

Phew!!!  I (Det) take down Potsie (Ca) 21-20, with a 16-15 homer lead.

Hernandez is an absolute stud in straight pitch, because he can shut down the lefties...

Jason comes back huge!!!

Jason (Det) 18 - 13 HRs
Lipitz (Ca) 3 - HRs

What an ass whooping!!!  This is shaping up quite nicely...

Standings

Potsie 3-1, 72 Runs
Gantry 2-2, 76 Runs, 1 slaughter
Lipitz 2-2, 44 Runs, 1 slaughter
Jason 1-3, 44 Runs, 1 slaughter

Too lazy to add up the runs right now...

Potsie and Lips up now in a HUGE game...

Lips

Ok, that was a big game!!!!  A very big game.  But of course, my next game is 100 times more important.  If I beat Potsie next game, I'm in the finals.  It's a tall order considering I have sucked with Cali in my last two attempts.  Anyways, here's the line...

Jamie (Det) 18, 13 Homers
Potsie (Ca) 8, 7 Homers

Here's the rundown of the standings:
Lipitz (3-2), 2 Slaughters, 62 Runs
Potsie (3-2), 0 Slaughters, 80 Runs
Gantry (2-2), 1 Slaughter, 76 Runs
Jason (1-3), 1 Slaughter, 44 Runs

RBI isn't just a game, it's a lifestyle...

Gantry

The drama, the drama...

I (Ca) slaughter Jason (Det) 18-5, 9 dingers to three...

Standings:

Gantry 3-2, 2 Slaughters, 94 Runs
Lipitz 3-2, 2 Slaughters, 62 Runs
Potsie 3-2, 0 Slaughters, 80 Runs
Jason 1-4, 1 Slaughter, 49 Runs

Things are looking good...  Dee-Nee!!!!!!!!!!!

Lips

Dee-Nee!!  I'm in...  I was beating Potsie by 5 in the bottom of the 8th, after back-to-back homers by Boggs and Rice.  Potsie was about to slam the controller after the Boggs homer, but he played it cool.  The Rice homer was beyond HUGE, though.  That was it for Potsie.  He slammed the controller, ending the game...resulting the game in a slaughter for me.  Yeah, it's a shitty way to take a slaughter.  But I'll take it.

Anyways, here's the line.
Potsie 10 (then reset)
Lipitz 15

Lipitz 4-2, 3 Slaughters, 77 Runs
Gantry 3-2, 2 Slaughters, 94 Runs
Potsie 3-2, 0 Slaughters, 90 Runs
Jason 1-4, 1 Slaughter, 49 Runs
RBI isn't just a game, it's a lifestyle...

Lips

The finals are set.  I'm playing Gantry.

Here's the line of Gantry's and Jason's game...
Gantry (Det), 30, 22 Homers
Jason (Bo), 26, 22 Homers

Here's the rundown of the standings:
Lipitz 4-2, 3 Slaughters, 77 Runs
Gantry 4-2, 2 Slaughters, 124 Runs
Potsie 3-3, 0 Slaughters, 90 Runs
Jason 1-5, 1 Slaughter, 75 Runs
