I'm back...even though my old roommate stole my copy of RBI, and I now live 140 miles away from my ultimate competitor, I am reviving the "100 Games of RBI in 24 hours" plan.  Who's with me?

but if you can't drink, why would you wnat to play RBI?  Again I am confused...its like trying to drive a car without any gas.  Its impossible to play without booze

This is an outrage.  Sucka, you are hereby condemned to no RBI forums for the rest of the week.

The game is a means to an end for the booze for you.  Think about your actions.  The booze is to be a mean to an end for the game, man.

This is outragous!

* note: I do not combine booze and rbi at all.  I strongly feel that rbi is enough for me!

I'm all for participating or monitoring this insanity.  You still in Bloomington, Ryan?  If not, where are you and where do you plan on holding this revival?

God, how I wish I was still in Bloomington.  My heart yearns for college.  I'm in Palatine right now, but hopefully not for long.  If I was to pull this off, my opponent would have to be the venerable Dr. Nacho.  He would still be into it for sure, but unfortunately he is still at college (lucky bastard) working on his master's.  It WILL happen some day, though.

As I think about this, it is crazy.  You have to average 1 game every 14.4 minutes, which means if the competition is fairly even, you will get almost no breaks, I don't think we finish many 2 player games in less than 11-12 minutes and any long/ extra innning game would screw up the average.

What if you played for 24 hours and only got in 99 games, would you try again?

A game every 14.4 minutes would make it darn near impossible if you consider you have to take 30 seconds between games to reset, stretch, piss, select teams etc.  At 100 games you lose almost an hour right there...

I thought about this, but if you play a 7 game series, I think you can cut this down to about 10-15 seconds for most games (obviously you need the 30 seconds at the end of the series).

I was also debating on teams to use, I think you go with Hou/SL match up as much as possible.

Gantry, I assume straight pitch games take longer since there is more scoring, how long do your games usually take?

I would have to say a Detroit/Houston matchup would go the fastest because most games would be over by the 2nd inning
What do you got there, the 4 volt? I did you a favor.

Not in curve, but yes straight pitch that might get the job done.

our original plan was that I will take Houston in every game, and Dr Nacho would take the Cardinals in every game.  We play curve style.  We would need bedpans to alleviate the need for bathroom breaks.  We also need chicks on hand to supply us with refreshments.

Do you play 2 starters or 1 starter?

If you play 2 starters with those teams, I could see a lot of extra inning 0-0 or 1-1 games.

I'd assume after the first run was scored, each guy would race to end the game....

Or one player would let the other score 10 runs, then go 1-2-3 the next half to end the game.

Sounds like a cheap way to get 100, but I'd think you would do this once or twice to cut time. ??? ??? ???

TempoGL

well, since we will be playing "series" style...using two starters would be your undoing in the following game.

and none of that cheap crap you were talking about.

Maybe I wasn't clear...

It seems to me that you would be so interested in getting through all 100 games, that you wouldn't care about playing well.  This isn't a sarcastic question, but what's the point?

TempoGL

new idea on the RBI endurance front:

Nacho and I were discussing the potential of 100 games in 24 hours, when a new idea dawned upon me.

it would require multiple TVs running RBI, but that can be arranged without too much difficulty.

an RBI-off (or marathon) Teams of two play RBI against each other until they can play RBI no longer.  Bathroom breaks would be permitted, but they cannot take longer than three minutes or come more often than once per hour.  Leaving the RBI for any other reason is forbidden, as matrons will be on hand to deliver sustenance.

Once you (or your opponent/teammate) can no longer play RBI, you are eliminated.  Last team standing wins.

Who's in?
